As we all know, episode 1×17 will be our first Alice in Wonderland themed episode of the season. But there’s a twist. There are unconfirmed spoilers that “Wonderland” is actually another reality that is completely separate from Fairytale land. I haven't been able to find any official articles validating that “spoiler,” but it does actually makes sense. Many of us have been wondering about the existence of other lands or even other realities back in Fairytale land. So, what if “Wonderland” is that other reality? Out of all the other fairytales, myths and legends, Wonderland is the only story (along with Wizard of Oz) that qualifies as entirely different reality.

Although we seem to be led to believe that SB is over FTL which we saw being taken apart piece by piece when the Curse was enacted, so I believe a destoyed FTL may be under SB, but Wonderland, that could definitely be another realm all together, and wouldn’t it be funny/odd if say Kathryn fell down a hole in the SB woods and found not pieces of FTL, but Wonderland instead:)

I love the idea of Kathyrn inhabiting the roles of Abigal and Alice at the same time. This show is well-known for their ability to blend different fairytales together and their love for giving a character two different fairytale identities. Rumpel is not only Rumpel, but he’s also the Dark One, the Beast and the Fairy God-mother. So, it would be pretty cool to see Kathryn assume two roles.

I’m still not sure if the writers would do this, since it would be very confusing for a general audience to follow. I’m more inclined to think that Wonderland is part of both FTL and SB, but in a way that we wouldn’t quite expect.
I posted on another thread a description for episode 17:
Jefferson, a young rakishly handsome, former criminal who in Fairy Tale Land has given up his life of crime and dedicated himself to his daughter, while in Storybrooke he is a dangerous and mysterious figure who has knowledge of the Evil Queen’s curse and attempts to persuade Emma that it is real.
Also. based on an interview with OUAT’s creators: “'We find out how the Mad Hatter became mad,' Kitsis teases…So how will this Wonderland be different from what we already know? 'The first [difference] you'll notice is in who the Mad Hatter was and his backstory. Then what Wonderland is and [its] changes is something we hope to explore also,' Kitsis says. 'We're hoping this tells you the story of the Mad Hatter, but will also leave you questions about Wonderland.'”
http://uk.eonline.com/news/watch_with_kristin/once_upon_time_bosses_dish_on_mad_guest/296279#ixzz1nawrfCLrBased on these two sources, I think that Jefferson from Stroybrooke is the Mad Hatter in FTL. Jefferson is considered “mad” in Storybrooke because he believes the fairy-tales in Henry's book are true and will tell Emma he thinks they're real.

From episode 12, Skin Deep, we find out that the name of the bar where girls’ night takes place is The Rabbit Hole (i.e. the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland). This makes me think that Wonderland existed in FTL and then became part of SB, the way the other kingdoms of the Enchanted Forest ended up in SB.
In the red circle, there is a rabbit emblem in the background. Also, you may notice the decor of the bar’s table cloths is based on the Queen of Hearts and her guards from the Disney version of the story.
Based on a post from OUAT Fan Podcast blog: http://ouat.roneyzone.com/ouat-we-know-the-name-of-the-bar-that-sean-proposed-to-ashley/

February 28, 2012 at 8:07 pm #137847cheshirecatParticipantI’ve had Alice in Wonderland in my head ever since the first episode. The title of episode 1×17 pretty much confirms my suspicion of it’s inclusion. The first thing I noticed that pertained to Wonderland was in the first episode, when Emma crashes into the SB sign and the book flips through pages, one of the pages has a picture of Alice (I think?) and the Caterpillar (you know, the one that uses a hookah). A more subtle hint at Wonderland is Emma (“Alice”) being brought to Storybrooke (“Wonderland”) by Henry (the “white rabbit”). Also Regina/Evil Queen is the Queen of Hearts, since she collects hearts.
A theory I developed on my own is that the Stranger is the Cheshire Cat. He sort of talks in riddles and in a roundabout way, never giving Emma or Henry a straightforward answer. Also, someone mentioned that he wears a lot of pink and purple in his scenes. I correlated this to my theory and Disney’s version of the Cheshire Cat is pink and purple!February 29, 2012 at 1:14 am #137859midnight drearyParticipant@CheshireCat wrote:

August being the Cheshire Cat would DEFINTIELY be a huge twist!

EMMA IS KIDNAPPED BY A MAN WHO’S SANITY TEETERS ON THE EDGE OF MADNESS, AND THE EVIL QUEEN PERSUADES A MAN OF MAGIC TO STEAL SOMETHING FROM THE QUEEN OF HEARTS, ON ABC’S “ONCE UPON A TIME”
“Hat Trick” – While searching for a missing Mary Margaret, Emma is kidnapped by a man whose affinity for hats has him teetering on the edge of madness. Meanwhile, viewers will be transported outside of the fairytale land that was for the first time when the Evil Queen persuades a skillful man of magic to come work for her one last time and travel to Wonderland in order to help steal something from the Queen of Hearts.
So, Wonderland is in fact a completely different land than FairyTale land. We’ll have to find out if Wonderland is also in another reality than Fairytale land though. -
