Wonderland: A Failed Curse?

Sorry for making so many posts today, but my brain is just spinning right now.

What if Wonderland is a failed curse? What if Rumpelstiltskin ran a tested the curse out, but failed? We all know the key incredient to the curse is the heart of the person you love the most. Well, everyone Rumpel loved has either died or abandoned him. So, what if Rumpel made a mistake and tried performing the curse without the beloved heart and as a result, created Wonderland?

But if that had been the case, Regina’s mistake would’ve done the same, right? It could’ve been some other mistake, though.
I still like the idea that Wonderland is an entire other realm like FTL and SB.
