His father (Rumplestiltskin). Maybe HE is Baelfire. This theory works because:
1) He is not lying about seeing anything unsusual (magic) but did see something to get excited about.
2) Gregor Mendel worked with peas. (peas / beans)
3) Plus the genetics connection implies that he is related to someone.
4) He might be hiding that his knowledge of his dad because he isn’t sure if anyone else knows who Mr. Gold really is.[adrotate group="5"]January 25, 2013 at 8:10 am #169947PheeParticipantI’ve been thinking about this since the ep aired, and wondering really, how much could he have seen?
Rumple’s back was to him. Yeah, he had a fireball in it, but he didn’t throw it, he put his hand down when he heard the car. If Greg had seen a light in Rumple’s hand, why would he assume it was a magical fireball, as opposed to someone just holding a torch of some description?
He’d have seen Hook more clearly, but would it have been clear enough, in the dark, when he’s in a speeding car, to instantly recognise, “That’s a pirate with a hook for a hand!” Or would he just think, “That guy’s dressed weird, and why is he holding a big hook?”
I believe Greg was seeking them out. Don’t think some random passer by would have connected it all up to add to an excited, “You won’t believe what I saw!” Unless he’s talking about how he saw a gun fight in a deserted street in the middle of the woods, complete with a creepy dude with a hook, and he thought that was kinda cool. But the way they set it up, they’re leading us to believe that he saw something magical, and like I said, I dunno how an average, ordinary, real world person would have seen a few seconds of blurred figures in a dark road before he passed out, and would have jumped to the conclusion that he’s stumbled on magic. But if he was looking for it, seeking out a place he suspected existed, where storybook characters lived, he wouldn’t have been thinking, “creepy dude dressed funny, holding a hook,” he’d have thought, “ZOMGCAPTAINHOOK,” which would warrant the excitement in his phone call.
So whoever he ends up being, and wherever he ends up being from, I’m sure he had prior knowledge of SB and its residents.

I’m also wondering what he could have seen since it was so dark. There wasn’t really much you could see. The Peter Pan theory is still haunting me as well – ahh this show and it’s red hearings lol
As much as I can’t wait for episode ‘Tiny’ I’m REALLY looking forward to ‘Manhattan’
January 25, 2013 at 4:51 pm #169965angiebelleParticipantIf Greg was Bae, the globe that Rumple used to find him would have indicated he was in Storybrooke.
I think Greg truly is an outsider who just happened into the town. He must have seen Rumple with the fireball. To me, he was acting like someone seeing magic for the first time. The show has already done the stranger from the outside who is actually a fairytale character storyline. An ordinary Joe would be a much more interesting concept. It’s an issue they haven’t touched on yet. I don’t really want any more story characters to be in a loophole outside of the curse.
January 25, 2013 at 6:47 pm #169973tiara_roseParticipantI agree with Angie Belle. I think the globe would say that Bea is Storybrooke. I think it was Manhattan, so Neal will be Bea in my opinion.
But I think the stranger will be maybe the wizard of OZ. I don’t think that he will be a ordinary Joe in the end.
Heros don't get their Happy Ending!
January 25, 2013 at 6:57 pm #169974PriceofMagicParticipantI agree with Phee that Greg was possibly seeking them out. When Belle saw Rumple use magic in her memory free state, she was freaked out and she didn’t like him talking about magic. Greg was super excited. If he saw magic but wasn’t expecting to then he would have been more “Did I actually see what I thought I saw?”. From living in a world without magic, his mind would’ve been conditioned to believe there is no such thing as magic and would’ve tried to find the most logical solution to what occured. He also would have probably kept it to himself for fear that he had gone insane or that others would deem him mentally unfit. He seemed like he was excited because he had found evidence to prove him right.
All magic comes with a price!
Keeper of FelixJanuary 25, 2013 at 7:17 pm #169978schmackyParticipantThat’s not necessarily true because there are people of today, now, here, in our world, that believe in magic. Or believe in the possibility of it. Just because he didn’t instantly be skeptical about it doesn’t mean he’s not an actual outsider.
January 25, 2013 at 7:44 pm #169985snowredParticipantOh yeah duh the globe…I forgot that 1 minor detail. 🙄 So Hopefully Neal will be Bae! so maybe Greg is The Wizard of OZ or Peter pan…. It would be funny if Her is a code for ‘Hare’ and he is the white rabbit… SO fun to speculate with this show… 😆
January 26, 2013 at 1:13 am #170014PriceofMagicParticipantWhat if Greg is the author of Henry’s book? He’d have some connection to fairytale land in order to get the stories, but perhaps it is a connection that he himself is not aware of so he thinks he’s made the stories up.

Keeper of FelixJanuary 26, 2013 at 1:41 am #170019bellaroseParticipantDon’t trust the globe Cora gave it to him. Theres a good chance she just wanted to get rid of Rumpel so she could take over Storybrooke with Regina.
Good always wins < That's just what Rumplestiltskin wants you to think Keeper of Belle's Theme Music, The Queen of Hearts Maze, Cora's Missing Heart,Tiny's Golden Harp
