Zelena is now the only character out of the “regulars” that still somewhat resembles how she was introduced. So at what point do you think the other characters lost their way?
Snow– 3A.
3A was the decline of Snow’s character where she went from wanting to get to know Emma no matter how long it took, to wanting a replacement baby no matter what. The characters decline just got worse as the seasons progressed from that point.
Charming– 4B
The whole baby snatching then exiling fiasco of season 4B. Charming has fared better than Snow in terms of character maintenance but that’s not really saying much when Snow has been butchered so badly.
Rumple– 4A
When the writers had Rumple going evil just for power, and made all his motivations be about power despite the rich set up from seasons 1-3A, was when Rumple’s character started to die a slow and drawn out painful death.
Belle– 4B
Even Belle has suffered, though not as bad as everyone else only because her screentime is so much less than everyone else. Still, Belle taking up with Will even though her heart wasn’t in it was OOC as Belle would never hook up with someone just to make herself feel better.
Emma-3B/4A
Easily the end of 3B plus the entirety of season 4 and 5. In other words, when CS became Emma’s only defining attribute.
Hook-3B/4A
Like Emma, Hook’s character started going downhill when CS became his defining role. It’s not necessarily CS itself, but the fact that in order for CS to happen, the writers had to twist both Hook’s and Emma’s characters into something unrecognisable in order to make it work.
Regina– 3B
The introduction of OQ for Regina. Again, not so much the ship itself but that the writers had to twist Regina’s character so much to make it work. Rather than being patient and letting the ship develop naturally, the writers forced it and then tried to hand wave it with crap excuses.
Robin– 3B
Basing this off of Robin’s season 2 appearance (since their meant to be the same person), Robin went from someone willing to risk the wrath of the dark one in order to save his beloved and unborn child then being a good father to said child, to a mindless follower who doesn’t care what happens to his child and whose sole purpose in life is now to be Regina’s boyfriend.
Henry– Season 2
Henry became a brat in season 2, demanding that he be part of the adults. Henry is only supposed to be 13 now (even though he is as tall as some of the adults) and yet no body cares that he is going to hell. Henry was the heart of the show in season 1 but now he is like the appendix, there for some reason but not essential if it were to be removed. Henry is the appendix of the show.

I do not know how true this is but …. I have read on other forums that ONCE bummed into CANADA’S child labor laws and are restricted from having HENRY work too many hours at a time. ONCE is being monitored by Canada’s version of child safety and social services. He and other children on the show also has to be tutored > schooled so many hours in a day during school season. I think this is one reason they film during the summer starting in July. I also think this is why his appearances is limited on ONCE.December 10, 2015 at 3:41 pm #314116KebParticipantIt’s to be expected that a child actor would have limited time to be on set, but it’s possible to still give him an important, central role without his being on screen as much as, say, Hook. They managed it in Season One.
Belle’s OOCness has been really obvious the last few episodes. Thing is, Belle’s character was set up with, aside from her love of literature, to have three main desires:
1. To be a hero.
2. To be with her true love–on terms that didn’t violate 1 (essential to her integrity/goodness).
3. To see the world. With the exception of Camelot and her rare centrics, they’ve denied her any opportunity to do 3. 2 would end the angst that they clearly prefer to keep Rumbelle mired in. 1 she is constantly, though it’s rarely acknowledged and they really don’t seem to know how to integrate her into the cast even though they’ve half-developed relationships between her and every single one of them that would be fascinating to explore further. Instead of sticking to things that seem truly derived from her goals and character, though, they’ve largely just had her fill necessary positions (google exposition, for example) as needed.

Charming/Robin: Stupid Question.
Belle/character of the arc: exposition.
Rumple: Loophole.
Emma/Snow: optimism/pessimism.
Regina/Hook: Sass."All your questions are pointless"

LOL! This is so spot on.

Another infuriating thing about Belle’s characterization is that Rumbelle is most on the rocks when Rumple is actually on the path to some kind of redemption. The second he’s evil again, the relationship advances. Either this is the worst timing in history, or it’s deliberate, and they’re suggesting that Belle, like her alter-ego Lacey, is subconsciously attracted to the dark side.

that is the most accurate description of a scene in OUAT I’ve ever seen.
