ParticipantSomebody asked Adam directly on twitter if Zoso was really the first dark one, and if the dark ones power originated in the enchanted forest.
He responded saying, “not first.”
If Zoso wasn’t the first dark one, who was? Where did the power come from?
It opens up the oppurtunity for so many stories!

ParticipantI think I saw that too. It’s interesting to know that there’s dark ones before Zoso but I’m not sure it’s necessary to see that one the show.

KeymasterThey might play with the idea of the original Dark One, toward the very end of the series. Maybe to match the power of the Blue Fairy.

At which question was he responding?
Not first Dark One or The dark power originated not first in the enchanted forest?March 15, 2013 at 10:36 pm #180191rini
ParticipantIt confirmed that Zoso was not the original dark one. 😀
In terms of the second question, I remember the blue fairy mentioning something about the dark ones powers – they are not supposed to be in the enchanted forest.
Intriguing….

KeymasterBlue Fairy: In this world, yes. You see, what ails your father is specific to our realm. His powers do not belong here. You must go where you can escape this wretched curse.
From The Return
The Dark One’s Curse seems to only be in the EF, but the shouldn’t be there. That’s odd.

ParticipantThank you for posting this quote. That is rather strange. Perhaps the inherent darkness of the power is specific to the enchanted forest, maybe in another realm the power is different. Or maybe that kind of pure power upsets some sort of magical balance, hence his powers not belonging there.
I don’t know, but what blue says is interesting, and also knowing there were previous dark ones…

KeymasterThe wording of this quote from Blue is so strange. The Dark One Curse is what ails him and she says it’s specific to the EF, which perhaps explains why Rumple isn’t full on Dark One in SB. But that the magic of the Dark One doesn’t belong in the realm..is that just because of how bad it is? If he goes to another realm he still has magic but he’s not green/gold in SB.

ParticipantHe was still physically green/gold in the land without color, but I’m thinking because that land still has magical properties – rumple said it was small, unpracticed in frankenstein’s realm. I don’t know, I just think this might be something the writers tap into more. I mean, they never say or do anything in the show without some sort of intent, which is why blue’s quote is even more puzzling! (Thanks again for posting it!) 🙂

KeymasterNot a problem 🙂
Blue’s wording of this and the general way she acts in that scene only add to the theory of: “Sneak Fairy is Sneaky”
