-Mr. Gold’s threat to the Charmings. I know it was wrong, but it made me laugh for some reason. 😆
-The flashback scenes between Rumpel and Dr. Frankenstein.
-Hook and Emma’s scene in the hospital. I love how Emma pointed out how massively Hook screwed up.
-The scene between Ruby and Dr. Whale.Least favorite parts:
-Belle smashing the cup. Really writers? Are you trying to kill us?
-Some of the acting in the flashbacks. David Anders was great, but the man who played his father was just awful.
-Regina falling for Cora’s tricks. Come on girl, think for yourself for once.
-The fact that Belle didn’t seem to remember ANYTHING about Mr. Gold. You’d think she’d remember Jefferson sending her to Mr. Gold’s shop, but nope. Nada. Poor writing choice on the part of the writers.Overall, this episode was just meh.
a_desperate_soulParticipantWHOA. This episode was amazing! 😮
Favorite Moments:
-All of Belle’s flashback scenes with Mulan and Prince Philip. Belle wasn’t the badass warrior woman that some were worried that she’d be. She was smart and resourceful and used her intellect to guide her through the task at hand.
-Rumpel and Hook’s big showdown. God that was awesome. Hook’s scenes with Rumpel and Belle were so intense!
-Belle saving Archie.
-Belle saving Prince Philip
-Belle having a snark-off with the men on the road trip.
-Belle using the fairy dust to find Hook’s ship.
-Ok, pretty much everything with Belle. 😆
-Mr. Gold kicking Smee over the town border. No shame.
-Mr. Gold turning Smee into a rat. Still don’t feel sorry for ya, Smee.Least Favorite Moments:
-THE ENDING. Not that it was a bad ending, it was just unbelievably heartbreaking. But other than that, there weren’t many downsides to this episode. It was phenomenal.a_desperate_soulParticipantDefinitely The Crocodile. Robert Carlyle’s performance was flawless (as usual) and I always love learning more about Rumpel’s life before he became the Dark One.
Other notable mentions: Tallahassee, We Are Both and Into the Deep.
6. “The Crocodile” – There were parts of this episode I enjoyed, and it’s always great to see more of Robert Carlyle as Rumpelstiltskin, but there was just too much going on overall. Plus, I think they’ve shown Rumpel to be very evil with him killing the mute maid or him turning someone into a snail and then stomping on them, that I don’t think they had to have him rip out the mother of his child’s heart and crush it and also have him turn a young girl to the Dark Side in one episode right after the other. I do think he will eventually work on redeeming himself like Regina is trying to do now, but when they write him like that, it’s hard to believe that he can actually do so because it seems like they’re trying to stack the deck to make Regina look better instead of just writing them both at an equal level. Personally, I think they’re both at the same level, but I found that last season there was more hope for Rumple because he was trying to save his son’s life and ended up getting turned into the Dark One whereas they gave Regina a weak reason, imo, as to why she chose the path that she did. This season so far, it seems they want to retcon last season by making Regina seem like “poor Regina” all the time even if it means making the Charmings look bad, and it just frustrates me because imo, she still has a long ways to go to redeem herself, imo, no matter how much they try to make other characters look bad to prop her up.
I completely agree. It feels like after the negative response “The Stable Boy” received, the writers panicked and are now looking for any and every way to soften Regina’s character and it’s not really working for me. Regina being manipulated by Rumpel made sense because it’s line with the original miller’s daughter tale. And Cora being an abusive mother was also a good way to explain Regina’s poor mothering skills. But it seems like in every Regina centric episode, the writers feel the need to present Regina as a wounded puppy and it just reeks of desperation from the writers. It doesn’t make her look like a sympathetic character, it just makes her look weak and easily manipulated. At this point, Aurora has more will power than Regina.
a_desperate_soulParticipant1. More flashbacks between Rumpel and Regina. I want to know what made them enemies. I have a feeling Regina found out about Rumpel’s role in Daniel’s failed resurrection. That may explain her reasoning behind snatching up Belle.
2. More Neal Cassady. I really liked him in “Tallahassee” and I’m in love with the actor. I’d give anything to see him in the same room with Robert Carlyle.
3. More of Cora’s backstory. Did she use to be sweet and innocent like Regina was, or was she always hungry for power? And what exactly did she give up for her magical abilities? Probably baby Regina.
4. More Rumbelle scenes. I just want to see them together a few more times before Hook and Cora arrive to spoil things.
5. More of Jefferson’s backstory. Who was his wife? Alice?
6. I want to see Oz. Like really REALLY bad!
7. I also want to see Neverland and hopefully Peter Pan and Tinkerbelle.
8. For the writers to stop ignoring Ruby and Belle. Ruby was pretty awesome in the beginning of the season helping Charming and organizing the town, but she kind of disappeared after “Child of the Moon.” And Belle has only been prominent in one episode this season, “The Crocodile.” But hopefully, that’ll change when she gets her own character centric episode.
9. For the love of God, please let the present day Enchanted Forest storyline stay dead. I know Aurora and Mulan are still there, but that storyline has been driving me crazy all season.
10. NO MORE KILLING OFF CHARACTERS. Archie in particular has me worried. 🙁

I’m still sticking to my Hook is a grown up Peter Pan theory
I have a sneaking suspicion your theory might turn out to be true. Red was not only Little Red Riding Hood, but the Big Bad Wolf as well. Rumpel also turned out to be the Beast. So, there’s a good chance that Hook might end up having dual roles.

That was before the curse was broken….that was right before the curse took effect.Rumplestiltskin constantly says “True Love is the most powerful Magic”
True Love does exist in our world, so, in effect, magic does exist in our world 🙂
Very true. Love is the only true organic source of magic in this world.

I do think Rumple can be killed by other means than the knife. A nuke for instance would def do the job.
Rumple taught Cora how to pull out hearts in order for her to enact the Dark Curse, but she didn’t. And then she pulled out her own and hid it, probably so that Rumple wouldn’t pull out her heart and control her. So she had to hid it somewhere where Rumple couldn’t get to it.
From what we know so far, the only things that can stop Rumple is the ink and the magical jail bars, at least in FTL. I think it’s more likely she hid it in another universe, that has something similar to the ink/bars but that we haven’t seen yet.Good point about the nuke. But I highly doubt the writers are going to go down that route. 😆 In the end, it will probably be the dagger.

Question! Who do you guys think is more powerful? Rumpel or Cora? Rumpel did teach Cora everything she knows, but I can’t help but worry. In “Into the Deep,” Mr. Gold seemed a little too confident in his abilities and Regina questioned his powers as well. Cora seems pretty confident in her abaility to take over Storybrooke, however, as we learned in “Queen of Hearts,” Regina thinks that Rumpel won’t have his powers once they reach Storybrooke. So, it’s only reasonable to assume that Cora thinks the same thing. Cora is probably expecting a powerless Rumpel when she arrives in Storybrooke. So, Rumpel has the element of surpise on his side.
I think Rumpel is more powerful, but Cora has knowledge about how to destroy him. I’m almost certain that she knows about the dagger, so whether or not she’s more powerful than him is irrelavent. She doesn’t need magic to defeat him, she just needs the dagger.
Good point. The dagger is where his power is. So, Cora and Hook will undoubtedly go after that first.
And that’s my main concern. Rumpel, you need to choose your pupils a little bit more wisely.
