Is that sarcasm I detect, hjbau? π
[adrotate group="5"]a_desperate_soulParticipantI’m also getting behind the theory that Rumpel wants to find Bae and fight in the final battle. But it all depends on which side he’ll lend his services to. This is after all his design, his game plan.
a_desperate_soulParticipantThere’s actually a theory going around that says the Blind Witch is actually Rumpel’s first wife. Does it make sense? No. But do I like it? YES!!!!

Maybe Rumples wife was angry the Rumple could not / would not protect her and that is why she bailed.
Great theory! This could add onto why Rumpel was overly protective of Bae. He was trying to make up for his past but ultimetly failed agian. Plus, now Rumpel has Belle to protect.
Good point. The entire village was constantly reminding Rumpel of his cowardice. I could easily see the duke taking away his wife just as another insult to his manhood.

I could easily see Emma becoming more powerful as a result of Rumpel bringing magic into the world. Which is partially why I believe he brought it into this world for Emma, Snow and Charming to use against Regina in the “final battle.” People tend to forget about the “final battle” part of the equation.
But I’m not too sure about August though. I think he’ll just have to sit and wait until the magic takes effect and he can return to being a man.
I’ve also been questioning Rumpel’s true intentions for bringing magic into the world. He could have used dark magic (something he’s more familiar with) but he chose to use true love. And top of that, it’s magic made from the true love of Emma’s parents. I can’t help but think that he did this to help Emma fight againt Regina in the final battle.

The writers seemed to be replicating the middle ages during Rumbles stories but EQ and Snow are much later in time more like the 1700s in costumes and environment.
In the middle ages, the lord of the manor had the right to be the first with a serfs bride ( virgins) or the pick of any woman in the village or farms. It was the custom and many babies were born as bastards from that practice.
The Dukes/ Lords of the manor and rulers have right over life and death over the peasants. They often would kick a farmer off the fields turning them out whenever they wanted. It was much akin to slavery. There were more haneous practices. I think the story will evolve that Rumple’s wife was taken by the lord of the manor as was the custom and that is why Bae is considered a bastard… he probably born 9 months or less after their marriage. Maybe Rumples wife was angry the Rumple could not / would not protect her and that is why she bailed.

THANK YOU!!! I was just about to post something like this. It was the norm for wealthy land owners to take the wives and daughters of the farmers. I honestly believe this is what happened to his wife. The way the duke was taunting Rumpel made me think he knew exactly what happened to her. Mainly because he was probably involved.
And on top of that, it fit into the narrative of Rumpel’s sad life. His pre-Dark One days were pitiful and unbelievably sad. π

I did not say that i didn’t want to know about Rumpel’s back story.. I thought that was a reasonable addition to the story though i think that episode had some wonky plot problems and some weird acting in it. I actually think that they need to do another back story episode of Rumpel before he became the dark one around the time that Bae was born. I never said i think the episodes should be removed just that they could and the show would still make sense.
There is no reason for this to get personal. I do think they are going to kill off Belle eventually or she is going to leave Rumpel. I just can’t imagine them wandering around Storybrooke happy. That seems to not work for the plot. This is about plot for me and Rumpel needs to be an antagonist. So either Belle has to be okay with his evil ways or she has to die so he can become more evil or she has to leave him.
Some of your predictions tend to be clouded by your disinterest in Rumpel. So they all tend to follow a similar formula: Make Rumpel suffer. Kill Belle, kill his wife, make him more evil. It’s becoming a little too transparent. There are characters that I’m not particularly fond of, but I’m able to see them clearly. I think that’s why I want a happy ending for everyone. I see all of the characters for who they really are and I think it’s sad. I want them to have a happy ending because none of the current conflicts will ever be resolved without them all having a happy ending. You can’t kill Rumpel because killing him won’t be solving anything. It’ll just be creating another problem. Another Dark One. So, what’s the alternative? True love’s kiss. A kiss from either Belle or Baelfire would destroy the power of the Dark One entirely. No one has to get hurt.
So no, Rumpel can’t stay a villain because if he does, he’ll always have a monopoly over the other characters. Emma, Snow, Charming and even Regina are just chess pieces to him. Theyβre operating in his world. As long as he’s the Dark One, he’ll always have power and thus, be able to manipulate the others. If you want to solve this whole mess, you have to break Rumpel’s curse without creating a new Dark One. That in itself implies that he’ll have to get a happy ending of some sort. I know you don’t like that, but that’s where I see this story going.
a_desperate_soulParticipantSorry you feel attacked, hjbau. π I respect your opinions and actually like you very much. We’re all friends here. All that matters is that we all love OUAT. π

Really? Why? Do you have a link? So does that mean it is going to be the same story all over again in the real world. When someone learns his first name they will have some sort of power over him. Why would he make that same mistake twice?
I think it’s over in the season 2 spoilers section. And I don’t think it will be that big of a deal. He probably just tells Belle’s his first name.
a_desperate_soulParticipantI want the tea set! It’ll be like having a little piece of Belle. π
