I will say when Belle called his name, he seemed tentative and uncertain as to what she might say or do as he turned around. I think when she said she loved him he seemed relieved and able to let his guard down enough to return an I love you he had been longing to say for many years.
I loved that scene! Mr. Gold didn’t know what to expect when Belle told him that she remembered. Remembered what? That he yelled, went mad, locked her in the dungeon, accused her and then sent her away? Because if she remembered that (and of course she did), he was lost. And I can see that in his face: “What do you remember?”
Instead she just said those 3 words: “I love you!” She remembers all, but she chooses to love him above everything else. I think they need to have a serious conversation about what happened before. But to start with, Belle wanted to make sure to him that no matter what had happened before, she still loves him. She still believes in him. And there will be time for everything else.
I love that scene!
And you know what else I love? When Mr. Gold first sees her, during the whole scene he never blinks. I think he thought if he closed his eyes, even if only for a split second, she might disappear. I found it so sweet and meaningful.
Anyway, I’m new around here. I’m a rumbelle fan and I’ve been reading and loving this thread. Have a nice day everyone! ๐

I completely agree. Belle’s reaction to Mr. Gold in the finale was so sweet and honest. The first thing that popped into her head was “I love you.” I loved that. But I’m pretty sure she and Rumpel will have to sit down and talk about his son and the curse. She needs to know about it and why he created it.

a_desperate_soulParticipant^To be honest, the whole “the last magic bean” ploy was probably just a plot device to get Rumpel to create the curse. If there had been more magic beans, then Rumpel would have never created the curse, and there wouldn’t be a show. There had to be only one magic bean left in order to push the story forward. Shows do this all the time. It’s the same reason why there was only one enchanted tree left in the enchanted forest. If there had more, then most of the residents of Fairytale land would have been spared of the effects of the curse. Thus destorying the entire premise of the story.
And I also don’t think the writers would attribute a well-known fairytale object to a character and then forget about it. Usually, when the writers give us clues, they mean something. I don’t think the writers would give Bae the magic bean, only to come back and say, “yeah but we only did that to introduce a less important character later on.” ๐

I actually really the idea of Baelfire being Henry’s father. To me, the inspiration for the curse meeting and falling in love with the person who was destined to break the curse makes total sense. They’re both intimately conencted the curse, they’re both from Fairytale land, they’re both parentless, and they both probably ended up in foster care. They already have a ton in common. The groundwork is already there.
And I agree, Midnight Dreary. Most people already knew that August was Pinocchio. That’s why there were so many side theories out there. People didn’t want to believe that he was actually Pinocchio, so people started coming up with side theories. That’s when the all the Bae, Oz and Robin Hood theories started popping up.
I agree. The idea of Baelfire and Emma being conencted is not that surprising. Emma is the savior and Bae is the reason why the curse exists. The breaker of the curse and the inspiration for the curse meeting and falling in love actually makes perfect sense. It’s not just a big coincidence. They would be the only two people in the world who are from Fairytale land, outside of the curse, while still be directly connected to it. It makes sense to me.

Here’s another quote from Emilie!
Emilie: โBelle will likely not try to change Rumple, but bring out the lightness in him – the part only she seems to know exists within him. She is in love with him for his tortured soul and what she sees inside him. She will be perhaps less predicatable and a little darker: the effect of living with the darker character that is Rumple.โ
I love this quote. I just posted it in the season 2 spoilers thread. I love that Belle and Rumpel will be on the same page in season 2. After everything that has happened to Belle, I’m not surprised that she’ll be a darker character in season 2. It makes sense for her character. It’ll add so much depth and complexiy to her character. I can’t wait to see how she copes with it in season 2.

Ok, Belle just got mroe awesome! I can’t wait to see how the writers approach the Dark Princess angle. ๐
I also found this. It’s Emilie’s thoughts on her relationship with Rumpel in season 2. Appearantly, there won’t be nearly as much angst or strife as most of us would have thought. It seems like Belle and Rumpel will be on the same page in season 2.

Yes, but all of his episodes are back story and everything he does in an episode is plot device stuff like explain about the love potion or give Snow a bow so she can try to kill the queen or give Charming the ring so he can find Snow or help Cinderella get to the ball. I mean he never does anything. He just does the in between stuff or explains something to the audience so we know what is going on.
It is fine for a character to be that, but, in my opinion, it is what it is. And the character has been very static. He is centuries old and doesn’t seem to have changed much at all. And i am fine with disagreeing, but it is what it is. And no worries i find your point of view just as ridiculous.
So the writers giving us episodes that tell us about him before he was the Dark One, when he was a coward, when he was poor, introducing us to his son, introducing us to his true love Belle, having him lose his son, him freaking out over Moe French, and his “reunion scene” with August is all just a plot device? Yeah, that sounds about right. No character development in there at all. ๐ ๐
I know you don’t like Rumpel and pretty much shoot down any attempt to give his character development or depth, but saying he’s just a plot device is just incorrect.
