@sci-fi_girl AH good point the hat! My personal theory is that since Merlin’s magic is what tethered the dark one to the dagger, only Merlin’s magic can un-tether it. The hat must have been imbued with some of Merlin’s magic, why I’m not sure, but maybe so Merlin could communicate with his apprentice? Maybe he did this as a back-up plan in case he was ever imprisoned or turned into a tree since he can see the future and maybe knew this was a possibility. Merlin must have also put some sort of safe guard spell on it since he knew other DOs would try to use it to un-tether themselves from the dagger.

I think Emma tethers Hook to the sword and uses him to fight HeroRumple.
I think you are right, except I think she teams up with Zelena to do it since she has done it before with Merlin.

OMG this episode was soooooo good! I was soo excited from pretty much start to finish. and what an ending?! Can’t wait for next week!

Nimue was the first dark one!!! That is what I thought a while back, but then (due to spoilers) thought she might have been the second dark one and killed Vortigan to become the dark one…which I guess I was mostly right except that Vortigan was just a random villain.
Emma’s smile when hook gave her the ring and she said she loved him. AWW she was sooo happy.

I thought the Holy Grail = Excalibur was a really cool idea in that I did not see that coming – also it was nice to get some explanation of how Merlin got his powers and why excalibur is great even to destroy the darkness… but as RG points out the HG being in the EF really makes no sense. Maybe I would have liked it more if it wasn’t referred to as the holy grail and instead was more holy-grail-inspired-ish.
Hook’s ring. He does say he is a survivor a heck of a lot and is pretty “overconfident” about it. So, I guess it makes sense that there might be a legitimate reason behind this. However, why not just use one of his many rings that we see him wear all the time? Why come up with a brand new mcguffin for it? My only explanation is that the writers want it to have originally belonged to his mother and that is why he wears it on a chain and why they couldn’t just have it be one of the ones we have already seen.

Also it looks like Emma is still wearing that ring we just saw in the new sneak peak. Did Hook not notice it has been missing this whole time? Or did dark swan give it back to him before the memory wipe and then got it back later?

A lot of people are speculating it is the same ring pictured here that hook wears on his pinky ring so it could be his Mother’s afterall. This would make more sense since Hook didn’t exactly have fond memories of his dad. The only reason I think it could be otherwise/why we will see a flashblack of his dad giving him the ring is because I don’t think they have done casting for Hook’s mother, but we know Daddy Jones has started filming.

oooh! I bet the ring is a magical mcguffin that Hook got from daddy Jones (must have belonged to hook’s dad or possibly his mom, but it seemed a bit big and the style is more like a guy-ring.) I imagine we will see a flashback to when his Dad gave it to him to protect him.
