ParticipantSee what a shock that not everyone thinks alike.
A lesson you really need to learn. I don’t know if you realize how aggressive, rude, and hurtful you come across. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and just because someone does not agree with you does not mean you get to be nasty.
And since this is a FAMILY show well then you shouldn’t “whine” and “complain” when Hook Rumple, and Regina are trying to get home to their FAMILIES! Cause I imagine anybody separated from their loved ones is going to want to get back to them ASAP.
I love the aspect of it being a family show and at the same time HATE if that is premise of this new season. If they are going to reboot, they need to reboot. Unlike you I want the three characters to just support Henry and the new characters and then leave and let the show fly on its own. The reboot needs to be about the NEW characters and should have the old characters helping them transition, it should NOT be about the three characters getting home to their families because that puts all the focus back on them and not the new characters.
I also think the move to Friday night is fine, I have a family and tend to stay home on Friday nights so unless I am the exception to the rule (which by the way I don’t think I am) I think this might work better. I am also not a bigot or ultra conservative so I have no idea how that was associated with staying home on Friday nights.

Participant) Rumple without Neal lacks an orienting axis of motivation. Gideon does not substitute for Neal effectively. Belle by definition cannot.
Agree completely it was what made Rumple sympathetic to begin with. A father who made a huge mistake trying to fix it and himself. Can you imagine the story lines we could have had if they hadn’t killed off Neal. The writers could have still had Rumple fighting his darkness but with another motivation to win back his son’s love. You could have had Neal become the dark one instead of Emma which would have had Rumple trying to save his son from the same fate as himself or even had Emma become the dark one and Neal dealing with the fact that now his son’s mother is the dark one which is a parallel to himself.
I expect Rumple to be used in a similar fashion in season 7 (the writers just need to leave RumBelle alone).
Yeah this is what I am afraid of, I am not sure how they are going to keep Rumbelle with Rumple being dark one Rumple I mean how many times can they twist it to be about Belle and Gideon and still work. Hopefully one more time of Rumple doing what is best for his family by outwitting or teaming up with the current bad. I hope they just leave Rumbelle alone and I will use my imagination to fix their relationship how I think it should have been done.

ParticipantIf the shippers are happy that they got a HEA, then great! But I think looking back the story is more than just flawed…it’s bad.
I think most of us were major shippers from the very beginning which was about someone who was flawed and felt like no one could possibly love him finding love. The problems started in season 4 although I could even rationalize that as Rumple being in a very dark place after Bae’s death and his imprisonment with Zelena (although OUAT went out of their way NOT to show this) They just never truly fixed it after that. I don’t think it got truly BAD until season 6A. I mean Season 4B was Rumple trying to take the easy way out by changing the story, season 5A was Rumple on a redemption arc and promising to be honest and courageous with Belle, season 5B was him in the underworld maybe not making the best decisions but at least being honest and upfront with Belle. It all fell apart in 6A where they were both truly horrendous towards each other. I am happy that they got a HEA but it should not have been instantaneous. These two have some major trust issues with each other and like I said before if they were going to do a big back together there needed to be a major relationship moment between them which we did not get.
It is unfortunate that Rumpel didn’t give up his power, but i understand they probably did that because they intend to bring him back.
which tells you that the Rumple of season 7 will probably be our Rumple not WR Rumple or some alternate universe Rumple. So A and E could very easily just rip the HEA away.

ParticipantSo I am not complaining about the ending because Rumple did not die and Rumple and Belle get to maybe live happily ever after raising Gideon. Well okay I guess I am complaining, does anyone else feel unsatisfied with the rush ending and the under utilization of Belle this half. I mean OUAT completely DESTROYED Rumbelle in 6A and yet this half Belle was barely present. I mean when she was present her and Rumple were working together trying to help their son, but come on guys after destroying Rumbelle at least take some time fixing it. Those two should have had at least some kind of big moment any or all of these would have been nice:
Rumple choosing love over power (I guess he did this but Belle did not even see it, she needs to SEE him choosing her over power)
Rumple finally accepting that Belle loves him that he is lovable.
Rumple stating to Belle that she has never been his weakness but his strength and that his power is his weakness
Belle accepting and understanding that Rumple has no desire to be everyone’s savior and hero he just wants to be her and Gideon’s savior and hero
Rumple accepting and understanding that Belle does not want him to be perfect she just wants him to let her in, to trust her, and for him to try and do the right thing
Belle understanding and accepting that Rumple feels he needs his power so that he does not loose the people he loves because when he is powerless the people he loves die(Bae) and he does not ever want to loose her or Gideon. That basically he is scared.
Rumple understanding and accepting that Belle in insecure especially about herself, her heroism, and her relationship with him and that she needs reassurance that she means something to him.

ParticipantDon’t get me wrong I love a well written parallel as much as the next person, but it has to fit the story and make sense. I don’t know why the Once writers keep missing that point.
I agree completely. Both of the TLK’s were done just for parallels. Now did I like them, yes especially Henry to Emma I just wish it made sense. I really did not need to see another Charming TLK but I did not mind it, I just wish it made sense.
As for Gideon becoming a baby again, I have no idea how that worked either but I am COMPLETELY happy that it did. I wish the writers had not wasted so much time on filler and gave us some explanations. I mean at least have the BF say something like, “You think getting his heart back is all you have to do, well let me tell you that is just the beginning” I don’t know give us some hint that it would not work and that something else would have to happen. My crack explanation is that the book had it completely right. When Rumple (evil who was trying to do good all 6B) and Emma (good who was not acting good at all in 6B) do the right thing, faith is restored (TLK works in bringing Emma back to life and Gideon gets to become a baby again) and the finale battle is won. Now I should not have to work that hard to explain something that should have been crystal clear.

ParticipantHas OUAT ever established future time travel? I mean does anyone remember all the ingredients, time, and hard work it was for Zelena to try and travel in the past. I would think it would be even more difficult to travel into the future. In other words it is a possibility but I don’t think it is likely that these are characters from the past in the future.
AKA
ParticipantI think the enchanted forest thing is a dead giveaway that somehow these three are either the enchanted forest counterparts from the past to save the future of these three are separated from all their family in the premiere and end up on the Enchanted Forest.
Why would characters in the past be in the future? So we have time travel for just these three characters into the future to meet up with a present day Henry in the future?

ParticipantI think the people who wanted to stop watching have stopped last episode, honestly. The ones who remain I think are the safest bet to watch it all throughout to the bitter end. A lot of people called it quits after the last episode. I think if this is the final season, A&E can and will do whatever they want with no regards to what the fans are requesting anymore. That might be good.
Yep totally agree, and that actually makes me excited.
A fresh reboot with a fresh story and a fresh cast on a fresh new day could also revive the entire series. Everything is good about that if it does. Optimistically, I am trying to see this as Once’s last chance to stand triumph despite all its mistakes. Getting rid of the cast is a big, edgy move but who knows how it will all work out. This very well could be the most captivating season of OUAT to grace the screen with the most interesting and shocking character arcs.
I agree, as long as they don’t make the mistake of undoing the ending of season 6 I think this might be awesome.
Eh everyone goes on on Fridays at eight especially families. To dinner, to the movies, to a friends house, to an event. Very rarely to people just stay home and do nothing.
Well I must be in the minority or just lead a very boring life. I prefer Friday to Sunday becasue of football and the fact that Sundays we are wrapping up the weekend to get ready to head back to school so they are fairly busy. I also like to be home with the kids on Friday nights so this gives us something to watch.

ParticipantI want to see more actual fairy tale creatures, not just a Disney fest. I mean Rumple is not a Disney character and yet fit in perfectly with OUAT. Season 1 had Hansel and Gretel, Red Riding Hood, The Blind Witch, and Rumple which are not Disney characters and that is what made the show fun. I also liked it when we brought in the stories from the land of untold stories, Dr. Jekeyll and Mr. Hyde, the Count of Monte Cristo, Frankenstein none of which are Disney. Don’t get me wrong I understand that OUAT and Disney go hand in hand but that is not what I love about the show and when we just concentrate on the Disney portions we get crap like Jasmine and Aladdin.
The fact that they used Evil Queen instead of Regina makes me believe that they are using the EQ or EF or whatever version of Regina and not the storybrooke version. As for Hook and Rumple I have no idea why they would be in the EF but then again why is Henry in the EF. I am not crossing out the possibility that this will be WR Rumple and Hook. Although the problem with that is they won’t want Hook to be fat and drunk.

ParticipantI liked that both dark and light had to make the right choice and as a result, the final battle was won. I liked that Emma sacrificed herself, and I like that Rumple made the right choice. I thought it was a good way to end both character’s arcs. And then Rumple is rewarded by getting to rasie Gideon with Belle and Emma gets rewarded by getting resurrected by Her son’s TLK.
I agree I actually thought it was a fairly powerful message and I like it.
