ParticipantI have no problem with them sacrificing Rapunzel like most of you I thought her character was rather uninspiring. The problem I have is that I do like Ivy and I wanted her to have the moment with her mom that she deserved. OUAT at it’s core has always been about parent/child relationships and this COULD have been another great moment on OUAT, but they failed. All they had to do was have Rapunzel have her ah ha moment without the imminent threat of death to her daughter. Rapunzel could have later sacrificed herself to save Ivy in the ultimate show of love, that would have at least been somewhat satisfying. I wanted and needed Rapunzel to actually “see” Ivy and realize that she did indeed love her. Instead we got Ivy admitting that she loved her mom enough to suggest the lanterns and then nothing. Writers it was not up to Ivy to show her mom that she loved her, it was up to her mom to show Ivy that SHE loved her!!! How hard is this thought process. As the adult parent of the sad, bitter, and angry child (yes I realize Ivy is a young adult but still emotionally a child who wants her mom’s love) it is Rapunzel’s responsibility to show Ivy she loves her. OUAT totally missed that, and I don’t know how when they are so good at doing these child/parent reconciliations.

ParticipantAre they trying to make Zelena and Nook a thing? There was definitely a vibe there.
yep I got that too. They would actually make some sense together. Both past villains with dubious consent issues. Both trying to be better people once they became parents. They have a lot in common and since we don’t have much time left an easy romance.

ParticipantThis was an “okay” episode. I give it a 6/10
Liked:
Gothel is intriguing and I am interested in what she is up to
Lucy is woken up, so that is not spread out too much and we still have the danger of the curse in affect
Rumple and Nook working together is actually appealing to me
Zelena’s one liners while way too contrived were still very amusing and made me laugh
I also like Nook’s advice to Zelena about not having to have magic to save her daughter but just to show her how much she loved her. I think they were going with Zelena/Robyn and Tremaine/Ivy parallel but unfortunately they fell short.
Mixed/Disliked:
Tremaine/Ivy: I really wanted and needed an emotional pay off with these two, and I guess we kind of got one but it felt unsatisfactory. I think this would have worked better if Tremaine had come to the conclusion that she was so busy saving one daughter that she did not see the daughter right in front of her before the death scene. The emotional pay off would have been right after they got out of the well or even before they got out of the well and then she could have sacrificed herself at the end of the episode. The way they did it, felt like she could not figure this out until her daughter was going to die, that is not a good emotional pay off this is just a very bad mother’s guilt and the sacrifice therefore was diminished to guilty feelings also.
The high heel shoe hit perfectly to lower the rope? The rope was lowered and Tremaine decides to put her hands in it and be lifted up by Gothel? Really writers you need to do better than that!
Acting or Writing or whatever was very stunted in scenes and actually really bad. It just seemed that some scenes were completely flat and uninspiring. The scene in EF between Regina and Zelena had none of the normal zip it was bland, most of the scenes at the hospital were blah, Any scene with Anna was badly done. I am not sure what it was but not good.

ParticipantThis will be the only thing that made Season 7 worth it!
Yep it is the one thing I am hoping for and will be completely disappointed if they don’t do. I need a Rumple/Belle/Bae reunion after his death. That one scene will make the entire 7 seasons worth it for me.

ParticipantI mean, I accidentally sort of kind of killed his son!”
Wow, don’t think you accidentally did anything of the sort. You killed Neal and then spent the next three seasons bragging about it. That is like saying she accidentally imprisoned Rumple or that she accidentally raped Robin. Rebecca your character is a villain who did horrible things, she may be redeemed or at least trying to get there but that does not wash away the bad. I am posting this because this is a major issue for OUAT. They seem to think that once a villain is redeemed there bad actions should be forgotten by all. Which is just silly and unrealistic and it makes us as viewers look stupid.

Participant1) What was your favorite episode of S7A? Runner up?
Without a doubt, Beauty. I actually would put this episode in my top 5 of all time. It was wonderfully done by both Emilie and Robert and their chemistry as always was amazing. Runner up would be Wake Up Call.
2) What was your least favorite episode of S7A? Runner up?
The 8th Witch: It was a complete mess and really badly done. I am astounded that it was a Jane Espenson episode probably one of her worst. Runner Up: Pretty in Blue I don’t buy Cinderella and Henry and I think they are trying to shove their relationship down our throats.
3) We met a lot of new characters! Who was your favorite? Least favorite?
Favorite: Alice!!! We need more Alice not Hook’s daughter Alice but Rumple and Alice interactions in HH. They are great together and I really wished she was Rumbelle’s daughter. I love her silliness mixed with sweetness. Least Favorite: Jacinda/cinderella she is plain boring, overly dramatic, and just plain not good. Her and Henry have no chemistry and I really don’t like them together.
4) Who do you miss the most from the first six seasons?
Archie and Leroy. I always believed that OUAT could have done more with their minor characters especially these two.
5) What was your favorite moment of S7A? Least favorite?
Favorite: I think it would be the Rumple and Belle montage it seriously gave me goose bumps and then made me cry like a baby, I loved it. I loved that Rumple finally gave up power for Belle, I loved that Belle was still reminding Rumple that their love was more powerful than the curse, I loved that Rumple has finally accepted that he is truly loved and that he deserved to be loved. The entire episode was really well done
Least Favorite: Anything with Jacinda/Cinderella especially the true love locket.
6) What storyline would you change if you could?
I would have made Lucy adopted and Henry and Jacinda not together
7) What are you hoping for in S7B?
I am interested in the covenant of witches. I hope that we get to see who is in the 8 and why they are important. I also want to see Rumple somehow become mortal, pass on, meet up with Belle and Bae and end his story line.
) Rate and/or grade S7A as a whole!
Despite the last episode which was horrible, I liked most of the season. I think they did a good job giving us characters that we care about, Ivy and Alice and that they are making a good transition to a new show. I wished they had hired a better actress for Jacinda/Cinderella as she is supposed to be a main focus and she is not very good. Overall I would give it a B.

ParticipantThe problem with that is that Alice ran up to Rumple the moment he stepped foot into the New!EF.
Which should have made her a prime candidate for the guardian. Rumple tells Gideon “it is time for me to leave this realm and go to the MOMENT where this guardian is waiting for me” and then we see him poof over right in front of Alice, the rabbit, and Henry. It should have been one of those three to be the guardian. That would have been consistent writing. I would love to say that I am not 100% sure Anna is the guardian but she probably is which I don’t believe makes any sense.
I’m guessing Rumple gave up his humanity for Alice but 1) why and 2) what does that even mean and 3) WHY?!
This is what I am assuming also, but gives us some hint that is what happened before throwing it at us. I mean give us one line in present day HH “Alice and I are close we have both given up a lot for each other” Anything, I mean the scene came off as ridiculous because we were all confused and then the mumbling did not help.
So in that one little scene we had Rumple being an imp which no one had any idea about, Hook and Alice’s relationship troubles, and a mysterious love of Alice and some unnamed (Robyn) person at the time. That is a lot of information for one scene and none of it was well done. The show was rushing to give us all this information before the winter break probably so they could talk about it and hope we will also but they failed. They failed because when you rush through story lines they become either confusing or non developed and therefore boring. Why would I just automatically be invested in Robyn and Alice? There is no story there. I am only marginally interested in Alice and Hook’s relationship because they haven’t developed it enough yet. I am somewhat interested in Rumple and Alice’s relationship because they have spent some quality time on it. The same thing goes for Henry and Cinderella they have not spent enough time on the story to get me invested they have rushed through it, and then gave it a magical maguffin true love locket and told me to believe, sorry it does not work that way. I am not invested and don’t care.
AKA
ParticipantOkay this is the problem, you lose the audience when you just throw something at them with no explanation what so ever. First of all I could not understand what in the world they were saying and I re-watched that scene several different times. If they wanted to show that Rumple gave up something for Alice (his sanity?) then show us some kind of background, give us some kind of hint that this happened. We got nothing so it came off as what in the world is going on, did the writers just forget that Rumple was in human form. This would have been at least effective if they gave us some hint that Rumple was back to imp form before they just threw it at us. The whole scene was rather stupid and made no sense.

ParticipantThis was one of the only bright spots of the episode I love the thought of 8 witches from fairy tales (not necessarily Disney) coming together to create havoc. Unfortunately we have used a lot of the witches already so who is left I am not sure, but I hope they can develop this into something interesting.

ParticipantDoes Zelena have her magic in the Enchanted Forest? And why were her and Robyn living there?
Thank you that is another one I forgot in my rant in the likes/dislikes. When did Zelena get her magic back, since when does she use a magic wand? It kinda eliminates her sacrifice in season 6 if she just automatically got her magic back. I mean I don’t know who wrote this episode but it was like they had never watched OUAT and most certainly did not watch the first half of this season.
Who is Zelena engaged to? –Will she return to her life as Kelly after the Big Bads are dealt with?
We will probably never see or hear from Zelena’s fiance again. Whether she returns to her life as Kelly depends on if OUAT gets renewed next season or not. If it does nope Zelena will hang out giving zingers and being sisters with Regina if we get cancelled yep she will go off and live happily ever after with some random guy. What they should have done was leave Hades around and developed that romance instead of killing him off.
