This is an idea I stole from another thread. Sorry, A_Desperate_Soul. But thinking of my theft as a compliment to your brilliant theory. 😀
I call that only those who possess true love in their lives (lovers, children) will be able to use the magic of true love. Regina will ironically be the only one left out.
I second this theory. 😀

It seems as if her character has become more important. I hope they include her as a regular cast member or at least upgraded to recurring cast member.
I’m also hoping for that. Jefferson as well. 😉

ParticipantYes, Bae being Henry’s father would be quite a coincidence, but this entire show is one big coincidence. Regina ends up adopting the grandchild of her arch nemesis, August turns out to be the boy who found Emma on the side of the road, ect. So, having Bae be Henry’s father doesn’t really bother me. I actually like how it ties all the different factions of the show together. Henry would become the common denomenator in all the characters’ lives. It would make the war between, Rumpel, Regina and the Charmings just that more intense and exciting. They all hate each other and would love nothing more tha for each of them to die, but the only obstical standing in their way would be their of Henry. I ups the stakes quite a bit.

I completely forgot about true love’s kiss. A kiss on the cheek or forehead from Bae would have definitely worked. I don’t know why the Blue Fairy didn’t tell him that. But then again, this could all just be a simple plot hole. The writers needed to find a reason why Rumpel to created the curse, and that couldn’t happen if his own personal curse was already broken. Sometimes details are sacrificed for the greater plot. Sad, but true.
I’ve been wondering about this too. A simple kiss from Bae could have solved this whole fiasco. But like you said, if Bae broke Rumpel’s curse, then there’d be no show. I just hate it when writers ignore details in order to push the plot forward. Especially when it makes otherwise good characters appear to be shady. The Blue Fairy could be perfectly benevolent, but because of the writers’ attempts to use her as a harsh plot device, the audience views her with suspicion.

ParticipantI could easily see Emma becoming more powerful as a result of Rumpel bringing magic into the world. Which is partially why I believe he brought it into this world for Emma, Snow and Charming to use against Regina in the “final battle.” People tend to forget about the “final battle” part of the equation.
But I’m not too sure about August though. I think he’ll just have to sit and wait until the magic takes effect and he can return to being a man.

The writers seemed to be replicating the middle ages during Rumbles stories but EQ and Snow are much later in time more like the 1700s in costumes and environment.
In the middle ages, the lord of the manor had the right to be the first with a serfs bride ( virgins) or the pick of any woman in the village or farms. It was the custom and many babies were born as bastards from that practice.
The Dukes/ Lords of the manor and rulers have right over life and death over the peasants. They often would kick a farmer off the fields turning them out whenever they wanted. It was much akin to slavery. There were more haneous practices. I think the story will evolve that Rumple’s wife was taken by the lord of the manor as was the custom and that is why Bae is considered a bastard… he probably born 9 months or less after their marriage. Maybe Rumples wife was angry the Rumple could not / would not protect her and that is why she bailed.

Oh, Nonnie. You just broke my heart with this theory. I hope it isn’t true. That would be far too heartbreaking to see. But unfortunately, I think you may be right. 😥

I’ve been thinking. Since the magic Mr. Gold brought into our world was created from true love, most of the characters on the show will be able to use it. Emma (because of her love for Henry), Snow and Charming, and even Rumpel (because of his love for Belle and Baelfire). Regina however, may be the only one left out. Regina’s true love, Daniel, is dead and she killed the only other person who she really loved: Her father, Henry. Yes, she has little Henry, but since the writers chose to have Emma’s kiss revive Henry, I think that was confirmation that Regina’s kiss probably wouldn’t have worked.
Mr. Gold is going to have the added pressure of balancing his love for Belle with his love of magic. If my theory is true, then Mr. Gold will be blending two of his greatest obsessions together. Love and magic.
I love this theory. It would be a very interesting take on true love and magic. I love twists like that. I also agree that Mr. Gold will have two problems on his hands. His love for Belle and his obsession with magic. If the two are forced to be linked together, than that can cause some serious issues between Belle and Rumpel. But then again, it may end up helping. Rumpel will be forced to balance his love of Belle with his love of magic. So, he may end up creating an interesting balance between the two opposing forces.

I actually think it’s pretty interesting that Regina has gone from being one of the most powerful people in the world, to one of the weakest. All because of the lack of love in her life.
I think you’re right. In order to properly activate the magic of true love, one must first have the active ingredient: True love. So, it will be interesting to see who’ll be able to use the magic and who won’t. Emma, Henry, Snow and Charming will definitely be able to use it. And oddly enough, so will Mr. Gold. He has Belle and Baelfire. So, even one of the show’s villains will be able to use the magic of true love.
