Oh, I love this couple so much. After only one episode, these two have stolen my heart. I have never been this passionate about a ship in my entire life. It’s so beautiful and romantic and heartbreakingly tragic. I don’t think my heart could handle anything less than a happy ending for these two. I know I’ll have to wait a few seasons for it (possibily the entire series) but it’s worth the wait. I love everything about these two and I’ll wait a thousand years for their happy ending. 😀
I went with Mr. Gold on this one. He’s got stock in both Team Emma and Team Regina. So, no matter who comes out victorious, he still ultimately wins.

These banners are amazing! I had a friend over at the Vampire Diaries website make a few Rumbelle banners for me a few weeks ago. I’ll see if I can find them. 😀

I agree. I don’t like having to constantly apologize for liking a fictional character on a television show. I like Rumpel because he’s deep, complex and interesting. I love learning about his backstory and I love how he plays such a crucial part nearly all of the show’s fairytales. I like dark stories. I like dark characters. I like that he’s a villain, and yet, I also love that he’s shown signs of humanity. I’m not going to apologize for liking a interesting character and having to constantly defend a fictional character is unnecessary.

Your not the only one! At least, not entirely… I mean, I don’t know if they should or not be reunited, but if they do, I wouldn’t expect it to be a ‘happily-ever-after’ encounter, but something that showed Rumple that ‘all magic comes with a price’, something that triggers his acknowledgement that his redemption depends on his ability to selflessness sacrifice something. You know what I mean?
I’ve seen a lot of people talking about the fact that this show is about happy endings, and I know they have even a close relationship with disney, but I hope they go for this more ancient (yet so modern) vision of tales, where they are more about educating then providing sweet dreams! 🙂
He already sacrificed something. Actually, two things. Belle and Baelfire. He stills believes them to be either dead or missing. And like others have said, Mr.Gold gave up his power to August. He was finally trying to chose the right path. Him giving up that much power for his son was a HUGE act of bravery. So, he’s already proven himself to be capable of bravery or selflessness in the new world.
I was going to respond, but Midnight Dreary, Looking Glass and Vasalisa already said everything I was going to say. But would like to push home one point. Like others have said, it’s the hope that Rumpel can change. It’s the hope that he will live up to what he said to August in the forest and give up his powers for his loved ones. And this is going to be sound really pathetic, but to be honest, a lot of people just a have a soft spot for sympathetic villains. Characters that start out as stone cold villains, but are then slowly revealed to have a softer side to them. The reason why people flock to these types of characters is because they speak to us specifically. Even those who are not perfect can have a happy ending. Even those who have wronged others can seek forgiveness. It’s something a lot of people can identify with. It’s also something that has an element of spirituality to it. The idea of forgiveness is very powerful.
