Curiouser and curiouser! I’m more intrigued than ever. Let’s please wait and see how it plays out before getting upset about anything.
[adrotate group="5"]angiebelleParticipantThe close up headshots with the black backgrounds are absolutely stunning! Emilie’s eyes…just wow.
angiebelleParticipantI don’t think she is particularly anti-Rumple…I think she just thinks he gets away with everything. We were just talking about characters we’d like to see more about on the show. I mentioned Belle and she agreed because “She is in a borderline abusive relationship and her stories always revolve around Rumple.” I bristle when people call their relationship abusive. As with Lacey- you’re right…he never forced it on her. He just offered it. He was never really in control of her.
angiebelleParticipantI just had a discussion with one of my Oncer friends. She thinks RumBelle is borderline abusive. Le sigh. She said that sometimes Rumple is good but other times he is controlling her. When I questioned this, she pointed to Lacey and how Rumple would shut her up by offering her more alcohol when she disagreed with him- that this was yet another situation that Rumple wouldn’t get repercussions for and that she wished Belle would ream him one for that. I argued that she wasn’t herself there- that was a special situation…Lacey *liked* abusive behavior, and Rumple wanted to keep her close. If he didn’t keep her close, Lacey would have done something that Belle would have regretted later. He was being the way he thought she wanted him to be. My friend compared making an exception to the situation to saying, “It’s okay that he hit me.”
It bugs me a bit when people try to put real world standards on a magical situation- I see that a lot among the fandom. You can’t do that- magic and fantasy change the rules. Yes, in real life, feeding someone alcohol whenever they disagree could be considered cruel, but this was a special circumstance, and I don’t think Belle would blame him for it. Yes, he was manipulating Lacey, but she was under a magic spell- she wasn’t herself. He was trying to protect her so that he might reach the real Belle again. It may not have been the wisest strategy, but his heart was in the right place. She didn’t really disagree with him at any point anyway- he was just trying to keep her from seeing magic. My friend compared making an exception to the situation to saying, “It’s okay that he hit me.”
Sometimes when I get in these conversations, I feel as if maybe I’m just being delusional because I’m such a big Belle/RumBelle fan. I can sorta see my friend’s point…but I just don’t think of it that way.
Of all the bad things Rumple has done, controlling Belle never even crossed my mind.
And I was just thinking…my friend said that whenever Lacey disagreed with Rumple, he’d give her alcohol to shut her up, but that’s not the way I remember it happening. He didn’t give her alcohol because she disagreed. He gave it to her to distract her from magic. He was afraid of how she’d react if she found out because magic always causes him to lose people. And she didn’t even listen when he tried to shoo her away! She came back and eavesdropped!
angiebelleParticipantI still say having everyone think Neal is dead for 5 episodes then having him come back only to kill him off for real sounds really dumb. It also undercuts Rumple’s whole sacrifice at the end of 311. Frankly, I think having Neal die would be REALLY depressing. He’s the reason behind the entire Dark Curse, the catalyst for all the events of the series.
I’m NOT saying they won’t or can’t go in this direction- really anyone is fair game. The writers have all the power. It’s just from my perspective at the moment, I cannot see how that would be a good choice for the story. If we get Rumple back only to have him lose Bae again…I shudder to think. And poor Henry- losing his father all over again? That’s terrible!
February 2, 2014 at 6:54 pm in reply to: New Disney TV Movie: "Descendants", about the kids of Disney characters #242452angiebelleParticipantI heard about this…it sounds as if Disney is taking a cue from the Ever After High series.
angiebelleParticipantHere’s an interview with Rose McIver (Tink). She mentions the death spoiler towards the end.
angiebelleParticipantMaybe the reason we haven’t seen Neal with the rest of the group in most of the pics from filming is that something happened to separate him from everyone.
I’m not convinced that the death has happened yet.
I got into a discussion on Tumblr with someone who thinks that it makes sense for Neal to die…that what happened at the end of S2 was foreshadowing Rumple losing his son as the price for his magic. She thought that the idea that his death was redundant was a weak argument. But I say, why “kill” him off, spend 5 episodes with everyone believing he’s dead, bring him back, only to have him die for real shortly afterward? What would be the point of that? We’ve already seen everyone’s reactions to his “death.” And I think Rumple sacrificing himself to save everyone from Pan was a pretty big payment.
January 27, 2014 at 2:32 pm in reply to: E! Online Spoiler Chat Jan 27: Storybrooke and Ariel #240975angiebelleParticipantAll we know is that Ariel will be making an appearance. It means nothing in regards to whose wedding we will be seeing at the end of the season.
angiebelleParticipantIf it turns out to be WickedSisters, they’d better have a very good explanation as to why there has not been any indication of a mysterious sibling in the past. It still sounds awfully out of the blue and soap opera to me, but I digress.
At the very least, I hope that if they are sisters then Regina is unaware of her, otherwise it’s like, “Oh- by the way- meet my wicked sister whom I have not made any mention of to anyone before this point.”
