ParticipantI love the idea that we find out that Moe did go see Belle in the hospital and was horrified to realize what he almost did to her himself…he probably had no idea that she was a complete blank slate with no identity in the asylum. He wanted to send her over the line without any information regarding who she actually was during the curse!

ParticipantThere are lots of great fairytale themed books out there! I recommend the Peter and the Starcatchers series- vastly creative!
There’s a new book out I want to read called Rump- the True Story of Rumpelstiltskin.

ParticipantHonestly, I hope it doesn’t involve heart ripping…for one thing, I think they have done that to death at this point. For another thing, that’s really something that Cora and Regina are known for, and I’d rather Peter Pan operate a little differently. I can see Peter Pan needing Henry to hold on to his youth though- that’s a possibility. I’m dying to know what Peter wants with him and how he knew about him in the first place!
I don’t think the shadow *is* Peter himself…Adam and Eddy have stated that the are casting a real actor as Peter.

ParticipantI’m inclined to the believe that the title is referring to Henry. My mind went immediately to him when I read it. He’s the one who had faith in the fairy tales from day one. Not to mention, we know that the next part of the story is going to focus on Henry because he is the whole reason that everyone is on a ship to Neverland. We are going to find out why Peter Pan wants him, and we are going to see the gang on the ship fight to get him back

ParticipantGonna take a while to get used to the new layout- but I’m SO HAPPY to see the boards up again…I missed this place so much!

ParticipantI started a fanfic in which Aurora accesses the red room and ends up encountering Henry because Henry’s been drugged and knocked out by his captors, so Neal learns about Henry that way. Who knows what will actually happen though!

RG, good points……I guess we’ll find out soon enough, lol.
For me, I just want to see Rumbelle happy times – THEY need it for pete’s sake. They can face obstacles TOGETHER – key word TOGETHER – whether that’s a Bae relationship, whether that’s anything else. Don’t just NOT separate them, let’s SEE them in a relationship. This idea that “hey they’re happy off-screen” is NOT acceptable. If you’re a good writer, you can write anything.
Part of their story, a huge part, IS their relationship. We have missed so much of their first moments together that it breaks my heart. They have been apart for at least 95% of their time “together”. Enough already. This is why I say S3 is a crossroads for me. If we get, after S2 and half of S3, more tragedy and personal angst for Rumbelle in the 2nd half, how can I justify continuing to watch the show when it makes me angry and incredibly sad? I’m going into S3 very hopeful, but wary – we’ll just have to see.
I’m fine with there being a threat as long as we also get concentration on relationships. No one is asking for episodes worth of Rumbelle or Snowing going shopping, but showing real people in a real relationships grounds them in reality., Plus, why would I care, why would any fans care, about what happens to people if we don’t care about them? It’s vital to have the audience emotionally invest in your characters. This show is was not promoted to be a show that is purely action/drama with no heart. In fact, fans loved ONCE in S1 because of character developments – and because it was fun. ONCE runs the risk of turning themselves into a soulless tv show by ignoring character development and relationships. So, what I’m asking for is balance……..Oh and there is usually more dramatic and emotional impact in genuinely moving scene between characters than there is in blowing up something for effect
Well, nothing I say is going to change how you feel, and you have every right to your feeling of course. However, as a fellow RumBeller, it’s distressing me to see you stress out so much! Here are my thoughts. I know you’ll disagree, but I’ll present them anyway as a different perspective:
As much as we love it, Belle and Rumple’s story is but a small part of the show. At this point, Belle has not been fully integrated into the overall story arc. Therefore, they have not shown us a lot of those smaller relationship moments. With so much going on, a lot has to be implied. I don’t see this as bad writing. It’s an hour long weekly tv drama- they have to keep the momentum going. It’s not possible for them to show every little moment on television the way you can in, say, a novel. It’s a very different type of writing. When Belle becomes more important to the big picture (hope*hope*hope), perhaps we will see more of RumBelle and how their relationship affects everyone else.
Would I love to see all those firsts you mentioned? Of course! More than anything! I am a RumBeller too, after all. But I’ve come to accept that there just isn’t time…there are a lot of Charming moments we haven’t seen yet that I’m longing for too. Maybe some of them will happen, maybe they won’t. That’s why fanfiction is so great- we can fill in those gaps ourselves! I do think that the whole reason we saw those interrupted dates was so that they *could* show us that RumBelle was happy without stopping the flow of the main story.
While it’s true I’ve been disappointed with the lack of real character moments in the 2nd season due to the constant threat of danger, I would hardly say it’s been completely devoid of them! The heart is still there. If it wasn’t, we wouldn’t still be here saying how much we love them! Obviously, the writers did something right. RumBelle has actually had a lot of beautiful moving moments- not all of them angsty. It has been a bit of a back and forth, but the show is a drama- it’s that way with *all* of the various relationships!
I love the way you analyze the various RumBelle moments on the other forums- every little move and sound from their different kisses, etc. You pick up on things I don’t- it makes me fall even more in love with them as a couple.
So, I hope you take heart. Take a deep breath. Savor what they’ve given us. The passion I get, the angst- not so much. There is far more good about this show that we love than problematic. I hope you won’t abandon it.

ParticipantMy goodness…I certainly cannot compete with the thorough discussions of the previous posts, but I’ll give you a quick briefing on my perspective.
I personally think Neal and Emma are endgame and that this has been set up since “Tallahassee”. They were passionately in love in the past, and every interaction since they reunited has indicated that they have both been in complete denial about still harboring feelings for each other. (I think thou dost protest too much!) Rumple definitely saw it. I may be one of the few who was *not* surprised by their declaration of love right before Neal let go. When the stakes are high, the emotional walls each had built come down. Of course, I fully admit that I may be a hopelessly optimistic romantic! In the real world, I’d agree that it wouldn’t be so cut and dry- Neal did make some poor choices….however, this is a fairy tale world in a show about hope, faith, redemption, and true love. I will be very surprised if Swanfire doesn’t end up being TL.
As for Hook and Emma… I would say yes, they have absolutely made a connection. They are kindred spirits. However, as of now, I have not seen any indication they are interested in each other romantically. If I hadn’t been a part of the fandom, I’m not sure it would have even occurred to me to think of them this way. I’m not saying that this couldn’t change! Just because I don’t see it, doesn’t make it impossible. I’ll admit there is some potential for it, but I think it would be a rather awkward coupling considering Hook’s past.
It’s happened before that something I was adamantly opposed to turned out to be true, but the way they told the story worked, and I later wondered why I was so opposed to it! This was the case with Cora being the Queen of Hearts as well as Bae ending up in Neverland. So if CS turns out to be endgame, I’m sure they’ll make it work in a way that I can accept it!

I’d love that too! I really enjoyed the friendship between Belle and Mulan. Mulan was much more likable here than she was when we first met her.

I think Rumple will come very close to death, much like the Beast does in Beauty and the Beast. But a combo of Belle’s TL/TLK and his heroic sacrifice in giving up his magic will undo the DO’s curse and free him to a mortal man again.
Yes, that is exactly what I was thinking, actually. Might be wishful thinking, but I hope it’s true. 🙂
