Most people argue that when one becomes an actor, they just have to accept being hounded by fans and paparazzi as part of the job, which is true to an extent, but I just wish people would treat them like PEOPLE. They’re just people that are good at their jobs. I saw a youtube video of several people chasing Ginnifer through a parking garage yelling, “where are you going? Why won’t you talk to us?!” kind of meanly, and she was trying to ignore them, wouldn’t look at them, and walked quickly to get to her car. The description for it was something along the lines of “Ginnifer Goodwin being rude to her fans.” And I’m just like…she was ALONE, in a dark parking garage, and people were chasing her…she was probably scared! I sure would have been!
Whatever happened to JMO was probably really frightening, and it sounds to me like maybe she just doesn’t want to caught in a mass of people. Don’t blame her. All the stories and pictures I’ve seen of her and fans on the street or whatever and they way she talks so highly of her fans makes it sound to me like she’s a nice person.
A friend of mine is Snow White’s “friend” at Disney World, and recently Snow White was approached by Ginnifer who told her what a fantastic job she was doing. Absolutely made this Snow’s year. That sounds to me like a nice person. 🙂
OMG about the Ginnifer video- that’s awful! You’re right- she wasn’t being rude…she was probably freaked out! Why on earth do people do stuff like that? It makes me so upset. Poor Ginnifer! What happened to being polite and respectful? Honestly, I would never feel comfortable approaching an actor out in the real world. That is their own time.
I used to work in Disney entertainment myself- I was “friends” with the chipmunks, Pooh Bear, and the mice from Cinderella among others. You wouldn’t believe how people act towards the characters sometimes…I actually had someone hold me by the shoulders for a photo when I was trying to leave!
That’s so nice of Ginnifer to say something to the WDW Snow White- she must have been over the moon. I think Ginnifer comes across as a very cool person- she is a member of D23, the official Disney fan club! I love the pics of Josh and Ginnifer at Disneyland. I’ve also read a few accounts from fans who did get to meet her who said she was just wonderful.

AngieBelle–Yikes 😳 about the Disboards, I had no idea! I am so sorry, if I had known, I would never have mentioned it. I only came across it three years or so ago, and had no idea it could be so hostile. Well, I won’t be unlurking there any time soon!
Oh, no worries! That was a long time ago. And they aren’t all bad- I’ve met a lot of really cool people through there as well. It can still be a fun place to be- you just have to be careful. Part of it was my own fault for saying too much.
So sorry about your son, LaurieAnne! How awful!
angiebelleParticipantYes, I’m quite familiar with the Disboards! I have been a member there since I was about 17, and was even a minor celebrity during my WDW college program days because I would post journals about my experience. Nowadays, I mostly just lurk…I had a really bad experience there about 10 years ago. I tend to share too much and got myself in trouble. I made the mistake of posting something about how dumb some people are at the parks from the point of view of a castmember, and people took it personally and got up in arms…in fact, a few people even tried to get me fired! When I tried to defend myself, I only made it worse. I was suspended for about a month and a half while Disney tried to decide what to do with me. Ultimately, I kept my job, but the experience made me far more leery. I found out about a parallel board that seems to exist only to make fun of the Disboards- they had a 10 page thread going basically ripping me apart. It was devastating.
What I like about the Oncepodcast forums is that it is a much more intimate community- the Disboards are just so overwhelmingly huge that you either get lost or you get harshly judged. I do still enjoy going there from time to time to read stuff, but I hardly ever post anymore. I agree that these boards are the best OuaT boards I’ve come across- the most intelligent, the most rational…people get pretty crazy on some of the others!
angiebelleParticipantI’ve been reading the message boards and fanfic and daydreaming. The hiatus hasn’t been too bad for me so far as doing community theater has kept me sufficiently distracted- I even found out a few others in the cast are big fans of the show too.
The story-go-rounds are so funny! I’m so glad you guys took my suggestion and ran with it! I’ve tried to do that with other boards, and it never lasts more than a couple pages.
angiebelleParticipantYes, of course- that makes perfect sense. She comes across as super nice from what I can tell. She does reply to tweets on occasion, and I love the whole concept of the Ugly Ducklings that she came up with for her fans. She seems very down to earth. In fact, much of the cast come across as the sort of people I’d love to get to know even if they weren’t on tv.

Random questions, why does most people think the scene with Henry’s birthday is a dream? Is this just guessing or did someone bring it up?
It is totally just a guess because it is unusal to see Gold and the Charmings all happy together like family.
angiebelleParticipantI agree, CrownedwithLaurels! They are under no obligation- and I’d hardly call it hurtful that she doesn’t come out for meet and greets. Disappointing for those waiting at the set, certainly, but not malicious. Sometimes, you just want to go home and rest after a day of work. Acting is hard- far more of a challenge than most people think.
angiebelleParticipant“Walt Disney” said Emma. “He’s the one who created all those famous cartoon versions of your world’s stories. He’s quite the legend in this world.”
angiebelleParticipant“Wait, Walt came from the Enchanted Forest?” said Emma “Now that’s a story I’ve got to hear!”
angiebelleParticipantOf course, it is disappointing to us as fans. I only meant that she shouldn’t be looked down on for it. When she feels ready, maybe she will try again. I really hope she does too. Until then, we should respect how she feels. I know she appreciates her fans- she has stated as much. I’ve seen interviews in which she said the show has the best fans in the world. We don’t know the full story of what happened, but for some reason, the meet and greets feel unsafe to her.
