I think if Neal is Bae, there will be fireworks when he shows up in Storybrooke.
Here’s an interesting quote from Bobby:
CARLYLE: The stuff that’s coming up, that I’m just about to do in the next three or four episodes, is mind-blowing. It just takes it somewhere else again. I was like, “Oh, my god!” You actually will feel sorry for Gold. There’s his love for Belle and he’s trying to be a better man, but we’ll see how long that lasts.
That was in recent interview (in which he was promoting his new movie). So…if Neal's coming back in episode 14-ish, which some fans guessed from MRJ and K&H…I guess that gives Rumple/Gold three or fours episodes to do really unspeakable things, particularly with the arrival of Hook and Cora. I'm thinking Bae is going to show up at the worst possible time. And it breaks my heart a little.
Thanks for that quote, Naomi. I really hope he’s talking about Neal because I think that he and MRJ would have really powerful scenes together if Neal is Bae.
Maybe it's just me, but I think this would be great for Carlyle because I feel they really haven't gave him much to do this season compared to last season. I just miss seeing him interact more with the main characters even if he was given his own episode with “The Crocodile” because last year at this time, one of the best things about the show, imo, was seeing the regular cast plus some recurring characters get to interact with each other more often and have the combination of who was interacting vary from episode to episode. For the first half of this season, we've got very little of that, and it became stagnating after awhile, imo, to just have the same characters interact with each other every episode. Not only that, but I felt like a lot of the regulars got shafted at the expense of Regina getting a lot of screen time instead of it being more balanced like last year. I mean it makes sense because her mom is one of the big bads plus her redemption is one of the big story lines of the season, but last year I felt like the regulars all got about equal time. Obviously Emma would get the most last season followed closely by the Charmings and Regina with Rumple not too far behind, but this season it seems like to me that Regina has got the most time, then Emma, then the Charmings, and then way behind them now is Rumple.
Of course, this year is only about half way done, so maybe I'm worrying over nothing. I just want to see more of the other main characters' back stories like how Snowing conquered the Kingdom since they've only touched on that for one episode despite it seeming like it was going to be a big story line this year. I would also of course like to see what happened to Baelfire because that was also set up to be one of the bigger story lines this year, and they've barely touched on that at all except for one episode.
Oh geeze, I didn't really mean to start ranting like that, but I'm really excited to see what Carlyle was referring to especially if he's talking about stuff coming up concerning Bae.

Had me thinking about ruby slippers too. But someone’s said OZ won’t appear until next season (haven’t read anything about this myself though…)
I thought they might try to tie in the new Disney movie about Oz with Once Upon a Time, but I think they’re running out of space and time to do that unfortunately based on casting spoilers and whatnot. So I’m getting the feeling just like the Little Mermaid and Aladdin being pushed to next season that the Wizard of Oz will be too.
and it feels like that will be a long time to get to Neal’s backstory – assuming it’s related back to the object in the box…
But if he’s multiple characters, leaving a connection between Neal and OZ to be handled next season could work very well.
I agree. While I’m not particularly fond of the idea of Nealfire being Peter Pan because I didn’t really think it fit his personality as a young boy, although I guess having his father and mother both abandon him in a dramatic way could change a kid, it’s seeming more likely to me just based on the fact that if Hook didn’t learn about the Dagger from Cora, then he must have learned about it from someone else and so far the only people that we know onscreen that know of it are Bae, August, and the Blue Fairy.
August can be ruled out because he wouldn’t have known about the Dagger at the time that Belle was being held prisoner by Regina when Hook “rescued” her to try to find out more information about the Dagger.
It could have been the Blue Fairy, since perhaps they’ll also make her Tinkerbell too, but if they really do want to have the series go at least 5 seasons, I’m not sure if they would reveal their cards so early about the Blue Fairy, if in fact, she has her own agenda. Plus, while I do think she’s questionable, I think telling Hook about the Dagger would put her into the evil camp because I think she wanted the Curse to happen and/or for Bae to get sent away for whatever reason, not that she wants the Dark One killed necessarily because she could have leaked that information a long time ago to anyone and everyone. If she was working with August like I suspect, then I don’t think she wanted to kill the Dark One, she just wanted to neutralize him, but August effed up the whole plan.
So right now that only leaves Bae, and if they make him Peter Pan, I don’t see why they wouldn’t combine him with another character possibly more than that just to make it easier to introduce new worlds that connect to the established characters. So I’m guessing yes on Peter Pan and likely the Wizard of Oz, because those are the two biggies that they have yet to introduce, and it’s not only easier just to make Bae those characters but there’s already a pattern established because they’ve done so with other characters especially his father.
I agree too that I’m not sure that we’re going to get his whole back story this year. I guess theoretically they could devote one episode about what happened to him when he arrived here if he’s only Nealfire, but it seems more complicated then that now so we might only get bits and pieces of it for awhile.
I’m not really sure how I feel about the idea because I think it might be too much like when David lost his memory, but if Neal is Baelfire and possibly more than just Bae, I’m getting the impression that he might not even remember because perhaps each time he goes to a new realm, he gets amnesia or he lost his memories when he got trapped in this realm because of the Curse. It could just be that he knows that he would sound crazy if he brought up his past, but I get the feeling that there might be something more than that based on the dream catcher and how MRJ reacted to what was in the box like he glimpses bits and pieces of his other life possibly lives but doesn’t know that he actually lived them perhaps.
Or I’m entirely wrong again. 😀 It’s just that I think Barrett will be connected to Neal and the dream catcher, and that to delve more into Neal’s past, Neal may be seeing a lot of Archie next season. It would be a good way to keep Archie useful next season; create another parallel between Rumple, Nealfire, and Henry, and it opens up new worlds that the current regular and recurring characters may not be able to be connected to especially if there’s scheduling problems like possibly with Sebastian Stan and the movies he’s working on now. It could also be a way to introduce the next big bad if he/she/they want to get back at Nealfire in some way or possibly just take him back to another realm, Oz is in ruins because he left, and the Wicked Witch and/or Glenda won’t leave Storybrooke without him.
Plus, I always feel like that the story line of David having weird flashbacks and running around in the woods was left incomplete. I would like to believe that it had more of a purpose than Mary Margaret believing that David thought she had killed Kathryn, and that eventually it will all make sense just as long as they don’t have Charming or Snow lose their memories again as another way to keep them apart. Not saying that Nealfire having amnesia would be why they included David’s weird flashbacks in season 1, but it could be a way to create another parallel between Snowing and SwanFire like how both couples initially met and then how both couples were separated in some way by the Curse.

Not sure if the “cheese factor” is all gone. Look at a show like Lost Girl (Showcase/Syfy) – not first run syndication, but a show with some cheese factor, reminding of Xena and Buffy.
Yes, I think there will always be a place for cheese/camp, but I think the syndicated series like it was in the late 90s and early 00s is probably dead as we know it because it seems like it’s much cheaper for independent stations to run reruns or nonstop reality programming.
In fact in a lot of ways, the death of those syndicated series reminds me of the death of daytime soap operas that would happen only a few years later. It just became too expensive to produce soaps especially with a shrinking audience that was working or watching other programs since there’s more choices than ever before. It doesn’t mean that soap operas will die though, but they’ll just live on in a different form like how the cheesiness of those syndicated shows just got recycled into something else.
I’m sure everyone here has at some point watched one of the great syndicated action/fantasy adventure series of the 90’s. Cheesy yet always a fun watch. Xena, Hercules, Relic Hunter, Beastmaster, etc. My personal favorite being The Lost World tv series that ran 3 seasons.
I know most people seem to prefer Xena, but I never got into it that much compared to Hercules. I guess I had a thing for Kevin Sorbo.
Some other syndicated shows that I watched/remembered not strictly from the late ’90s or early ’00s though.
Small Wonder – I still think Billy Corgan looks like an adult version of Jamie from this show.
Out of This World – I’m sad that apparently Wikipedia says that Evie did meet her father in person, but I never got to watch it.
She’s the Sheriff – I don’t remember much about this show except that Suzanne Sommers was in it. There don’t seem to be any big egos on the set of OUaT, but hopefully if there are, someone points them in the direction of this show and Jade and Troop Beverly Hills and One for the Money to show what happens to stars when they think they’re better than the show they’re on.
Friday the 13: The Series – It had nothing to do with the awful movie series, they just wanted to cash in on the name.
Thunder in Paradise – I didn’t watch this show by choice but because my dad watched it, and we only had one television at that time. (My dad was worse than Cora. 😉 )

For episode 2.15, the guest role of Edith is being cast. She’s 50, kind, and serves a wealthy family whose members think of her as one of their own, and to whom she’s very loyal.
I doubt it, but I’ll say Mrs. Potts.

This question has been bothering the heck out of me since season 1.
I'm going to place my bet on Ethan Embry's character being the writer of the book.
I second that bet
If it’s not the Blue Fairy, then that person is my second guess. Since I think Barrett will have something to do with the Netherworld, if dreams/the unconscious are how stories from one world end up getting told in another world, then it makes sense, to me at least, that he could have knowledge of many different worlds and stories like those in Henry's book.

Yes, I’m on the Bae=Peter train, so it’d fit for me if that’s how Hook discovered that there was a weapon that could kill Rumple. In the scene with Belle, he didn’t seem to know exactly what that weapon was, but he could have had some altercation with Bae in Neverland where the kid accidentally let it slip that the Dark One could be killed, but then refused to give more info, so Hook set off to find it himself.
You know I’m not the biggest fan of the Bae=Peter Pan theory because I just want him to be himself, and Bae’s personality didn’t feel he had any of Peter Pan’s traits to me as a boy because he was so serious and mature.
However, it’s looking more likely now, I believe. We now know that Hook learned about the Dagger to kill Rumple from someone other than Cora, which was the popular theory before “Queen of Hearts”.
We also know that the bean can bring someone to the present day Earth world, so there’s something going on with why Bae time traveled to our world. It’s either because the Blue Fairy or some other powerful entity wanted Bae to end up in the current day world to meet up with Emma, or he went to some other world(s) first that kept him from aging, or option number 3, the bean knew that it would take Rumple hundreds of years to get to a land without magic and then someday really choose Bae over his power and that’s why Bae time traveled instead of landing several hundred years ago in our world or option number 4, the writers never explain it they just wanted him to land in the future to meet up with Emma.
I’m just not totally sure about option number 2 because Colin O’Donoghue had that quote about he has yet to film any Neverland scenes, and he hasn’t even been told if they are definitely introducing Peter, though he’s hoping OUAT decides to. I would think if Neal is Bae and also Peter Pan that it would be a pretty major story line for the second half of the season, and they would have informed MRJ and Colin O’Donoghue that it was going to occur. It does seem to becoming more likely though.

I don’t think the deal is going to be about her not getting an invite or not. I think too much is being put in to that invitation. That is not going to be THE reason she drops of the ‘no magic wagon’. It’s probably going to be about the threat of loosing Henry to either the Charmings or Cora. The scene in Golds shop with the invite and Henry letting go of her hand, was just a little hint of that happening in the future. I think…
Excellent point. If she’s unable to accept that people besides Henry still don’t want to be around for what she’s done to them, and that turns her back into her old ways, then her rehabilitation was probably never going to work if something as simple as not getting invited somewhere is going to set her off. She needs to realize that it wasn’t just Henry that she has to make it up to, but the whole town and until then she can’t expect not to be treated like a pariah.
I understand that “keep your enemies closer” idea, but in reality, she’s caused so much pain to all of them that it’s unrealistic imo for them to do that especially since it’s only been a few weeks since she was last trying to kill everyone. I think that the Charmings are actually saints and/or dumb for saving her life multiple times and letting her have contact with Henry, and that under the circumstances, it was very normal that Henry wanted to catch up with Emma and Snow without having it be all awkward for everyone by having Regina be there.

ParticipantThat’s a fun idea about him being the Sandman! He’s a character from folklore, so he’d fit right in.
I wasn’t really sure about Barrett possibly being the Sandman because to me the spoilers could mean he was a true outsider which I took to mean that he wasn’t a fictional character at all like everyone else. However, after reading this spoiler, I do think that he’s going to be the Sandman or a character like that connected to the Netherworld.
Question: Any fresh intel on who Ethan Embry is playing on Once Upon a Time? —Jenny
Ausiello: Jennifer Morrison knows about as much as the rest of us — which isn’t much. “[All we] know is he’s an outsider, he is a stranger and he is not a fairytale character,” she says, before quickly adding, “at least he’s not someone anyone recognizes from fairytale land.”I wouldn’t think of the Sandman to be a fairytale character; although I do think there are probably fairy tales that contain a character like him, but no one would ever recognize him if he’s the Sandman so that part certainly fits.
Right now I feel like he’ll seem like a good guy, and in a way he will be, I think, but I believe if he’s the Sandman, he’s starting to get annoyed at these outsiders invading his world and manipulating it. First, there was Henry with the vial that Granpa Rumple gave him. Then, it was Charming being purposefully put under, so that he could communicate with Snow. Then, if Cora was telling the truth, and Aurora and Mulan are able to rescue Phillip from that world, I could see Barrett becoming very upset by all these strangers going into his world and using it for their advantage.
Also, this spoiler was with the new Barrett spoiler,
Question: Is the Mulan/Aurora arc over on Once Upon a Time? Are they done for the season/forever? –Mary
Ausiello: Mitovich — who just spent a long weekend in Vancouver, where Once shoots — hears that one of the princesses will be seen soon after the show returns from its holiday break (on Jan. 6). -
