Oh my god, fairy dust! You are so amazing! I can’t believe all of the research that you did. Thank you.

    2. John Guliak – 7 Stories & 13 Songs album hanging by window – picture of a heart surrounded by fire – lots of possibilities including nod to Baelfire.

I can’t believe I didn’t catch this. I even looked up the album to see what was on it, but I think it was chosen more for the album cover and the fact that Mysterious Man is into indie music rather than to the songs pointing out clues now.

    1. 7 Stories and 13 Songs
    2. Feathers for a Fool
    3. High
    4. The Little Ease
    5. Dive
    6. Windigo
    7. Rudy Falling
    8. Easy to Fail
    9. Big Orange Root
    10. Shaky Nancy
    11. Great Western
    12. Oka/Banff
    13. Wreck on the Highway

Here is the title track: The Day Everything Became Nothing

Thanks. The song fits even more now. I really didn’t want to look at it though because I looked up the lyrics to the number 4 song and even listened to it, and that was enough of NoMeanNo for me. I think I would have liked them when I was younger, but now it’s almost like just noise to me. (Hey you kids! Get off of my lawn!) πŸ˜€

    4. Many OUAT sites have the Mysterious Man living on Grand Street across from Piemonte Ravioli company. His apartment is across from Piemonte but not the storefront on Grand Street, rather the Piemonte storefront on Mulberry St. He lives in an apartment building that is on Mulberry St, in the area known as Little Italy. I won’t take time to list all the history of Mulberry St. but it is ALOT. Mulberry St. has a long history that includes the mafia. Farther down Mulberry was the notorious Five Points area.

Thank you! I actually Googled to get more clues about Grand Street by using the address for the Piemonte Ravioli Company on Grand Street, but it didn’t look like the one from OUaT. I didn’t know that they had a storefront on Mulberry Street, but yes, that is the location that the show used.

The Mulberry Street reference could also be a nod to Dr. Seuss’ And To Think I Saw It on Mulberry Street, since he’s a famous author of children’s books.

    6. All the radios, and desk microphones, and records…etc. When I took a look at the route that MM walks it is almost certain that he works on the West Side. I saw something interesting up on the West Side (89th st) of Central Park. It is called The Radio Foundation. http://www.radioart.org/ Wonder if that is where our MM works?

I’ll let you read up on it but these guys are famous and have that sort of artsy history that makes for great stories. One of the things this group put out was Firesign Theater. And one of their albums was titled, “In the Next World, You’re on Your Own.” It is a hodgpodge of the bizzare but the title sure is interesting. Again…we run into that word, “fire” a possible nod to Baelfire.

Yes, I saw that TVLine article mentioned he most likely worked on the West Side, but I thought it would be funny although probably too meta if they had him working for ABC. The Firesign Theater name definitely fits him better. Although he could still be a thief of some kind based on the plot synopsis for episode 6.

    8. The logo on the horse at the beginning of the MM scene is called a Horse Brass. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horse_brass There are many myths about it possibly warding off evil.

So we have the Dream Catcher, the Horse Brass, and the Hamsa, so Mysterious Man is being connected with things that ward off evil, which means he might have some kind of power(s) that allow him to do so.

The Statue is called, “Good Defeats Evil” It is St. George, on a horse slaying the dragon.

Yes, the St. George and the Dragon story is definitely a very popular type of story that we’ll most likely see happen on the show.

Oh my god, Christmas came early. Yay!!! I was so worried that the were switching the episodes around because I saw that spoiler about episode 7’s cast list last night and people were speculating that they switched the order around because they still had to work on episode 6.

Woo!!! Finally confirmation that Michael Raymond-James is really in this episode. Aw, I’m already tearing up at the description though. I can’t wait to find out what went wrong between them even if the angst causes me to have too many sad feelings. πŸ˜₯

There is so much contrast between the photos of Milha and the one of little Bae and Rumpel. Whereas Milha looks like a well-kept woman with expensive jewels (which she probably gets from Killian), Rumpel and Bae are dressed in humble muslins. There is so much anguish in little Bae’s and Rumpel’s faces, and Milha looks like she was just caught in the act. I feel so much for poor Rumpel and Baelfire. No wonder Rumpel became so consumed by gold, wealth, and power. He must’ve been devastated and humiliated beyond description by Milha running off with the likes of a dashing pirate like Killian.

I didn’t catch Milah wearing jewels before. I guess I was too busy hating her guts now, πŸ˜€ . Seriously though, that reminds me of an idea someone brought up at Television Without Pity about Mysterious Man. Well first someone speculated that because of his suit, it looked like he was a businessman or lawyer of some type, but not a successful one because of his apartment. However, someone interjected that perhaps he could be successful, but it might make sense that he purposefully chooses to live in a crappy apartment even if he could afford to surround himself with better things because he associates nice things with the loss of his father. If his mother left because of not only wanting adventure but because she was tired of being poor, then it makes even more sense that might be why his apartment is so crappy.

Of course, it could just be that’s all Bae could afford to live in since NYC is so expensive, but I could see this idea being true since he might be okay with wearing a nice suit for whatever his occupation is since that could be a requirement, but in his private life, he chooses to live like he does because he associates wealth with corruption. That could also be a small part of the reason that if he and Emma were some kind Bonnie and Clyde type of small time criminals that he left her to take the rap because he thought he was becoming too much like his parents. Well that, and mostly he probably felt that Emma would eventually turn on him first because of his trust issues.

Young Bae is older than I expected- I guess my head canon had him not really remembering his mother because he was a baby when she left and/or died. Now seeing that’s he old enough to have some memory and understanding of what’s going on with mommy – more emotional baggage for adult Baelfire and possibly some issues with women leaving him! That being said, after awhile I can see Bae and Rumple teaming up to mess with Hook – but I guess I should be calling him by his other name since he still has both hands apparently. πŸ˜†

Yes, I really thought he would be younger because I figured he really didn’t remember anything about his mom, but in this picture, I think he would be old enough to remember, he just blocked it out. I also thought that Milah might be made to be more sympathetic, which could still happen, but right now I just want to punch her smug face in. I can understand perhaps that she entered into a loveless marriage because of family pressure things went bad really fast, and I was giving her the benefit of the doubt that maybe she was suffering from some kind of depression or mental illness that made her think that Bae was probably better off without her around, but she doesn’t seem like that all from the two photos of her.

Anyway, since I can’t say it enough, I’ll say it again, poor Bae. πŸ™ It’s like whatever bad thing happened to another character, he can just top it by saying that he went through the same thing only worse. Yes, it’s no wonder that the casting call for Jack was about the character keeping people at arm’s length. He’s use to people rejecting and leaving him. πŸ˜₯

So Hook’s real name is probably Killian Jones. I wonder if the twist is going to be Killian threatens Rumple at some point (being a coward, he doesn’t fight back) and wee Baelfire ends up cutting of his hand…I think I just came up with a VERY dark idea…and the picture of the little Bae is still up on my screen….

I like the theory of Hook, er, Jones, cutting off his own hand because Rumple marked him with the Medallion, but it would be a really interesting twist if little Bae actually ended up being the one to cut off his hand. I don’t know if he’s strong enough to do so, but maybe Bae was trying to protect his dad or even mom, and he ended up cutting off Hook’s hand.

It gives more credence to the Bae is Peter Pan theory, which I’ve been thinking about again. If they do have a Peter Pan on the show, at first I thought the twist might be that either Hook or Rumple was Peter instead of Bae, but then I was thinking about their relationship to fairies. Hook, I guess, could have a positive relationship although probably not, and obviously Rumple doesn’t, but assuming that the Blue Fairy isn’t really the villain manipulating everyone else, I don’t think Bae would have any problem with her and other fairies or at least a problem like his dad does, even if Bae might abhor other kinds of magic, since it was his dad’s fault not the Blue Fairy’s fault.

    Love Charming’s guns too.

ETA: I just noticed that Red and Belle are together. Hopefully, this means that they’ll become friends.

The song is all about a girl named Sharon (Chaley’s girlfriend) who turned them in (most likely for drugs) one New Year’s Eve. Sort of reminds us of Emma being a bail bondsman and turning people in. Thus, it would seem likely, that he is indeed Henry’s father and someone Emma had issues with in the past.

Yes, I think it was a great song to use to introduce the character because Charley’s Girl could definitely be referring to Emma, and by using that song it gives a glimpse to Mysterious Man’s personality, imo, because he very much seems like one of those kind of guys that loves records and record stores, and has lists and lists about his favorite album, singer, band, etc., very much like the guys from High Fidelity. In fact, I’m getting a very John Cusack vibe so far from this character like a cross between Lloyd Dobler and Rob Gordon mixed in with a little bit of his other characters.

Further, I don’t know if his name will be Charles or some variation, but while thinking what his name here might be, I think he did have a Charlie Brown type of vibe because of how resigned he was to his life not being that great. Of course, I don’t think they could call him Charles Brown or anything like that because of copyright laws, but it would seem to fit him at least in those 90 seconds of screen time.

I actually bumped up this topic though because MysteryKat brought up NoMeansNo’s The Day Everything Became Isolated and Destroyed in the chat last night, and while I saw the “Beauty and the Beast” track, I didn’t really pay attention to the other tracks on that compilation album.

    1. “The Day Everything Became Nothing”
    2. “Dead Souls”
    3. “Forget Your Life”
    4. “Beauty And The Beast”
    5. “Brother Rat/What Slayde Says”
    6. “Dark Ages”
    7. “Junk”
    8. “And That’s Sad”
    9. “Small Parts Isolated And Destroyed”
    10. “Victory”
    11. “Teresa, Give Me That Knife”
    12. “Real Love”
    13. “Lonely”

Of course, I’m probably reading to much into things, but I thought a lot of the titles not just “Beauty and the Beast” were really spot on with things that have happened or happening now on the show.

Obviously, the title of the album, The Day Everything Became Isolated and Destroyed is just spot with what happened to Fairy Tale Land, the day that Regina enacted the curse. I think song titles 2, 3, and 6 would definitely fit the situation going on after the Curse. Track 9 would fit the small part of the worlds that got left behind after the Curse. Songs 4 and 7 would fit Rumple. Track 8 and13 would cover just about everyone right now. Song 10 could be foreshadowing since the good guys will eventually be victorious, and 12 could be a part of that for the good guys especially Emma and Bae.

I can’t really fit in tracks 5 and 11 without really stretching things, but I have to applaud the behind the scenes people of OUaT for picking that album to use as a clue because it’s very fitting in a lot of ways.

    Nonnie

Unfortunately, I don’t. I just found it on Tumblr. http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/ouat-podcast. I just assumed that it was the most current podcast because they talked about why August might have left.

I like the idea that he might have gone to check out the tree. But I think he is ashamed that he has turned back into wood and didn’t do what he was supposed to.

Sometimes the pacing on the show is weird, so it is possible that he could disappear until episode 8 or 9, and just have gone to the Magic Tree and/or Blue Fairy, but if he ends up in NYC in episode 8 or 9, that would be a good way to write him out of Storybrooke and the happenings there until the mid-season break.

Both of these comments cracked me up!! That is all. Carry on.

Thanks. I think I’m going to feel the bad for Bae the most about magic coming back because he likely really hated magic already for what happened to his dad, but on top of that, if Mysterious Man is Bae, it seems like he’s adapted to modern life here, so I can’t imagine him wanting to be dragged back into that life. The Curse was one thing and him possibly trying to break it with August’s help, but he’s really going to flip out if he finds out about his dad bringing magic here.

I don’t know if they’ll have Bae suddenly have any special powers either since magic works differently here whenever he finally comes to Storybrooke. On one hand, I think it would be an interesting twist if he became like a damsel in distress at times because he didn’t have any magic while Emma did. On the other hand, I would love to see how MR-J would play not only Bae flipping out about his dad bringing magic back but also about how he got some kind of magic.

( Sorry for the poor quality screen-cap. )

I did a bit of research & found the symbol could mean one of the following, perhaps:

    A) The alcehmical sign for aurum ( gold ) / reference
    or
B ) An American-Indian ideogram for the Sun / reference

oooo. What if it was both? Something belonging to Mr Gold or something for his “sOn” (as a homophone for sun). Everything he has been doing revolved around getting Bae back.

Thanks for the research, cruel fortuna. I like the idea of it being a homophone on the word son because he’s Gold son, and everything has revolved around finding Bae.

It also reminded me of the days when I use to be into the Harry Potter fandom and study about Alchemy to see how it could relate to the plots of the last 3 books.

Right now Rumple is at the black stage, but perhaps his name is a hint that by the end of the series, he’ll actually have reached the gold stage.

    http://spirit-alembic.com/alchemy.html

    Tetramorphic Progression: the Four Stages

Once ANY Nature has been contacted by use of Alchemical forces, there begins a Four-Stage “Evolutionary Process” that leads in fixed steps to whatever ‘goal’ one has set-out to attain. These Four Stages are represented as THE ‘ASCENDING SCALE OF ALCHEMICAL COLORS.’ While it may seem improbable to the inexperienced mind, each Alchemically-triggered Evolutionary Phase actually DOES produce some manifestation of the color of that Phase of Alchemy. The Four Color-Phases are (in sequential order:)

    BLACK: ‘Massa Confusa’

In this initial Stage, the ‘subject’ seems both confused and vague; disorder is the keynote, and one may wonder if any good could come of this! Patient observation soon reveals an emerging ‘Product’ though it is quite primitive and only slowly does it move toward your goal.

    WHITE: ‘Purifactio’

In this second Stage, the emerging product enters a rather extreme period of ‘purging;’ it sheds the confusion and vagueness of it’s origins.. but may seem to have completely missed the intended direction of evolution! Further patience reveals that this Stage has further solidified the Product as a “workable nucleus” which can later be turned into a more desirable direction of growth.

    RED: ‘Fulminato’

Now in this third Stage the Alchemy becomes quite apparent; the formerly rather distorted Product now begins to show clear signs that it is moving in the desired direction of growth. Patience is less needed now than is CAUTION; the Alchemy here can be sometimes quite ‘explosive’ and fast-paced! At times, one may feel that it is all getting QUITE out of hand!, and then suddenly..

    GOLD: ‘Magnum Opus’

The Product solidifies into a FUNCTIONING or ‘living’ REALITY that fulfills the goal intended (and usually quite a bit MORE than ever expected!) One may be tempted to think the work ‘done’ when it attains this Stage; but it may still need to ‘cool’ or temper into final form over a brief period of functional use. Sudden ‘proofs’ of the final Product’s desirability emerge, to inform the Alchemist that his Great Work has been attained.

Any deliberate use of this Four-Stage Color Symbolization (even as simple a use as dressing oneself in the four colors sequentially!,) can trigger Alchemical results, though (naturally) only on a minor level unless the Creative Forces of Causal Geometry are also employed. Many people find Color-Alchemy sufficient for their self-transformations. But, should you wish a more detailed description of the complex process of Spiritual Alchemy as performed in our tradition, we recommend you study The Shining Tree Self-Work-Book..

Let’s not forget, Regina did go 28 long years without using magic, and during that time she still was manipulative and mean, and to some, truly evil. For her to put down the magic and try to become a better person will take more than just not using magic. She needs a complete personality make-over. How does one atone for the murder of their own father (Henry Sr.), lover – Sheriff Graham, and possible countless others?

Yes, Mike, I’m not really sure how I feel about redeeming Regina. On one hand, I think it’s great that they’re giving the villains layers, but first I don’t really know if she’ll ever redeem herself just because she admits that she wants it now, and also because in a way I think it’s too early for her to be on the path of redemption.

I mean sure they have to show the seeds of it happening if it does actually happen, but Regina being Regina, I don’t think she can stand other people being happy for that long and not being in total control. Even if she does her best and tries to remember what Henry would want her to do and that she doesn’t want to become her mom, I think her temper is just so dark that she won’t be able to return to her old ways.

I know there’s the spoiler of her meeting with Archie later on this season, and maybe she’ll actually be able to learn to control her temper, but personally I think she’ll be too tempted to want Henry to herself again that she won’t be able to stand to share him with the Charmings especially if she sees that he’s happy with them. I mean this is a woman that sacrificed her own father for her own happiness, so I still don’t think that just because she wants to change now for Henry’s benefit will mean that she actually will be able to no matter how much she might love him.

Finally, while I won’t be surprised to see Regina try to sacrifice herself for Henry’s sake if Cora uses him as a pawn, which she most likely will, I would bet good money that before the end of this season, she’ll do something really bad again against the Charmings. Maybe they won’t know about it until next season, but I just don’t think she’ll ever fully accept Henry’s family even if that’s the only way she can keep Henry in her life.

I think you just outlined the entire episode! πŸ˜† Very good theories, and I think you’re right too. Especially about Rumpel marking Hook with the medalion. That would be an interesting twist on how Hook lost his hand. And I’d be interested to see if Belle ever knew Hook or Smee before she was kidnapped. Maybe Hook did have something to do with it.

lol, I think slurpeez totally outlined the entire episode too.

I especially like the part about how Hook delivering Belle to Regina. I would hope that there was more to that throwaway scene in “Dreamy” especially as many fans, at least on the Internet, feel that is one of the worst episodes because “nothing happened”, and Hook meeting Belle at the tavern totally makes sense. Plus, it’s another parallel/contrast between Milah(*) and Belle then.

I wonder what happened to Milah then if she went off to Neverland with Hook. I really hope that she doesn’t come back, not because I think she’d be any threat to Rumbelle, but because there’s already so much parent drama going on especially if Bae turns out to be Henry’s father that I don’t really think they need to bring back Milah again. Plus, if they brought her back later on to face Bae and if there’s a possibility that Hook is really Bae’s father, then I think it puts too much focus on Bae rather than Emma. Not that he’s not a major player in the story, but that might be a little too much to have his mom come back, and potentially his biological dad come back, and also have to deal with his other father drama and his other father’s new girlfriend.

So I like Josephine’s idea since it makes Milah look a little bit more sympathetic and because it solves the problem of the family drama being on Bae instead of Henry and Emma, which is just having her come to regret her decision to leave her child, and then trying to go back but either Hook kills her during an argument or she gets killed when trying to go back to her home.

*-I wonder if she was supposed to be Milah all along and the casting call spelled the name wrong or the synopsis and casting sheet spelled her name wrong. I would think the former because the casting calls often try to fool fans by using fake names for upcoming characters. Plus, Milah sounds more like Miller to me than Milha does if the theory is true that Rumple targeted Cora or Regina’s father because they might have been related to Milah. (Of course, I don’t like that theory either because then Bae and Regina would be related in some way, and that’s too easy of a way out to have Regina not be able to seduce Bae because I know if they’re not related she will, not that it will work, but it won’t stop her from trying.)
