Ariana MillerParticipant
I am in complete agreement about the consternation regarding a lack of discernible motive on the Black Fairy’s part. Even Rumple as a Dark One always had a specific motive. He didn’t just do evil just for the heck of it.
And this is a Final Battle that is “final” because? What are the stakes? Emma wasn’t ever presented as the embodiment of light magic, so why should her possible demise be the “final” anything? And in the scale of evil that we’ve seen throughout OUAT, the Black Fairy is kind of middling at best. I mean, Regina was right to dismiss her as not even reaching the EQ’s level. And Zelena is even more powerful. It makes no sense, and the BF is one of the weakest–if not the weakest–villains we’ve seen on the show. Ironically, Pan was much more formidable.
Is it uncharitable to say that the podcast is really what keeps me watching? Because the writing has become increasingly careless on the macro story level–it’s almost as if ABC is using OUAT to train new writers. Bothers me as one who has watched from the first season.

[adrotate group="5"]Ariana MillerParticipantIs it at all possible that Robin appearing in the Fake Universe is part of David’s wish? David wished that the evil queen gets what she deserves. Since Regina is connected tot he evil queen, I wonder if that wish could have fallen on her as well, and given her back Robin, or even just a fake one.
I like this theory.
I don’t buy that the alternate universe is “fake.” Regina kept saying that, but there’s no indication that it’s fake. If it were fake, then it should have just “dissolved” or something as soon as Emma realized who she was. Not that sweeping Emma off to an alternate reality was the most logical way to grant that wish, but anyway…
I think it’s a new world that was created as a result of the wish, and the people there are just as real as anyone in any other world, with all of their memories, etc. And they will go on living and being real from here on out.
Ariana MillerParticipantThere’s a very easy answer to why Robin isn’t aged up: the writers don’t want him to be because they need to “finish” OutlawQueen more satisfactorily than the way they did in 5B and in order to do that you can’t have 30ish year old Regina with 60ish old Robin because that’s, in their eyes, unsexy.
Pretty much. And well, there’s always the sleeping curse narrative if they need it.
Ariana MillerParticipantDid anyone else notice that when Charming went to get the lamp from EQ and confronted her, he called her “You snake!” I caught that after watching it again.
He later said that she had gotten what she deserved. So, though it’s unconventional, it does seem like that was the wish being granted…just not directly by Aladdin for some reason.
