Dr. Whale’s reminds me of Judge Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame
But would that be considered a Fairy Tale … despite Disney making it an animated movie? Same question goes to those who might suggest Moby Dick?
Bluebeard is actually a fairy tale. Albeit, he’s Jack the Ripper of Fairy Tales, but a fairy tale nonetheless.

ParticipantOkay, so I have to agree with what was said in the Initial Reactions for the finale about how Dr. Whale looked like he was struggling with his memory coming back. Does anyone else think he can turn out to be a really bad person? If we go the route of the curse makes some people the opposite of who they really are, then Dr. Whale can possibly turn out to be Bluebeard or someone similar. 😯

II. Rumple was the one that made the prophecy. How reliable is he? I hate asking this question, because honestly I hope what we were told is the truth. And he tends to make good on his deals. But we don’t know exactly how much information he witheld etc. And what he said could be true, but not until the endgame.
I’ve said before in a Rumpel-centric thread that Rumpel actually is a pretty honest character. From what I’ve seen, Rumpel hasn’t lied to anyone (except maybe himself). He may not be open with what he knows, he may not share the whole truth, but he doesnot outright lie.

ParticipantFinally, someone else who feels the way I do. Everything did seem rushed which is why I said somewhere here that at least another episode was needed for a better exploration of what was covered. It was all just too easily done.

Maybe Malificent woke up when Emma put on her deputy-badge. Because then the ground started shaking and Malificent (as dragon) was down Storybrooke. I thought that the tunnel Emma walked trough was one of the mine tunnels. Because the glass coffin was there too and in Ep. 5 the coffin is down the mine.
Just a suggestion..
That’s a possibility. It’s probably the most logical. Maleficent staying asleep all this time and only waking up when Emma decides to stay in town and be sheriff.
What didn’t make sense is using the library to access the mine. Why not just go to the mine or even the troll bridge to access it? Storybrooke is a very small town, it’s not like it takes forever to get anywhere. I hope the library has other things it’s hiding to compensate for this lackluster reveal.

ParticipantMaleficent was sleeping, I believe. There is at least one reference to Emma doing something to wake a sleeping dragon, whether it’s her arrival in SB or fighting with Regina over Henry. So, just like the rest of the town, Maleficent has been out of it for the past 28 years…and now she’s dead.

ParticipantThe book never really had much of a point. Henry believed that the stories in it were true, (almost) everyone else didn’t. But now that it is no longer a fairy tale, but chronicles the previous lifes of everyone in SB, it might prove to be an invaluable source of information for Team Emma.
I don’t think the book will serve any more purpose than it has unless a character starts referencing it more directly and says I see a connection here, here, and here in these stories. Otherwise, the book just a way for the show writers to tell the FTL stories.

ParticipantThe season could have used another episode to help explain things. A lot of the things seen in the finale seemed rushed.
How/Why did Jefferson know about Belle in the psych ward?
Other than seeing his name on a door in the psych room, couldn’t we have seen a little more of Sydney Glass to have a little update?
How is it Belle is so accepting of everything that’s going on?
Did all that character building for Regina go out the window the moment she saw magic coming?
Is August dead or what? Is it really necessary to wait til the next season to answer that?
Maleficent stuck in dragon form sll this time? Really? Could there have been no clues to make the viewer feel they were even in the same ballpark with this one?
And Granny and Red? Dr. Whale and Mother Superior? I really wish more had been done.
If, for some ungodly reason, the network decides not to go through with a second season, I will be quite disappointed with what we were left with. Just saying, another episode could have been used to smooth things out a bit.arjay369
ParticipantThere are now fairy tale characters in the real world with memories intact and magic to boot! 😯

ParticipantHmm, according to varying accounts, Oberon is either the King of the Elves or King of the Fairies whilst Titania is always just Queen of the Fairies. If these two are involved somehow, it’d be near imperceptible to tell as they would use agents such as the Blue Fairy and Rumpel in whatever they’re scheming. Ah, Rumpel in the role of Puck. That’d be something. Perhaps, the whole love story angle isn’t about the fairy tale characters we know the most, but rather Oberon and Titania, king and queen of all fairy tale magic.
