"Because... it was born out of true love."Agree with that completely. I got an interesting vibe from Neal in this episode. I can’t quantify it, but it was almost like he already had a plan. Might take him a bit, but he was going to see them again. He didn’t even doubt it. Or Emma. (I’d expect nothing less; Neal’s nothing if not resourceful. How many worlds did he adapt to living in? Can’t have been easy, ever.) And oddly, I think it applies to his father too. For some bizarre reason, I think he might have an inkling that what happened to Rumple isn’t what it appears. And he’s going to find him, too.
Okay time for some crack theories. Going of of what was said here that maybe Neal has a plan. Now this way left field and may not be possible but what if during that time between Regina telling them that they’d all go back to FTL and seeing Emma and Henry off at the border, Neal ran into Regina’s office and got a piece of the magic bean plant to plant them again in FTL? I don’t know how he knows it was there (in Regina’s office) or if it is still viable but just what if?

I think that in that moment where Snow tells Emma that it’s time for her to leave them again, Emma, finally, understands why and how it was unavoidable that they had to send her through by herself and hope that she would find them again and have her best chance. The feels!

Snow: “Happy endings aren’t always what we think they will be. Look around you… You’ve touched the lives of everyone here.”
Emma: “But we’re family.”
Snow: “Yes, and we always will be. You gave us that. It’s time for you to believe in yourself, Emma. It’s time for you to find hope.”Remember Snow’s earlier words to Emma too about hope in 3×6. “Happy endings start with hope.” She also told Emma that life is full of happy moments in 3×10. In both instances, Snow White was speaking in reference to Neal. Emma’s hope starts with her believing in even the possibility of a happy ending. And then we had Rumple’s last words to his son of discovering happiness, just not with him. In other words, both Snow and Rumple’s parting words to their children was to hold onto hope, which is hope for finding a happy ending together! I wish someone talented with making GIFs could make one of Snow telling her daughter to hang onto hope on the one hand, and Rumple doing the same for Baelfire. Pretty please? Can someone on here make that happen?
I don’t know how to make gifs but I wonder if I can find those gifs you are talking about separately. I suppose I can try and look. 🙂

Just remember folks that even though Emma doesn’t remember her reunion with Neal and know why he left all those years ago, it won’t change the fact that the first time she sees him again (if she doesn’t remember by that point), she’ll realize (again) she never stopped loving him.
