Hello , i just wanted to come here and speak to you once. I am a long time lurker on this site and have loved this thread so much. My love for Baelfire knows no bounds and i will be forever bitter at the way he died.

I have been ruminating on this a lot over the last few weeks, since the death of Bae, which naturally came as a shock. I have been rewatching season 2 also. This will probably be an unpopular opinion here, but i do believe that CS was written to be canon from the start. Looking back on it now, the way they introduced Neal – as someone who didn’t go after Emma when he had the chance – made it clear. Then in Tallahassee, that beautiful episode where Emma was so happy – i remember now the way they left it. Neal, in Emma’s eyes, and in the rest of the fandoms eyes, abandoned Emma.

So the two episodes where we first saw Neal in season 2 were damning for him. Contrast that then, with Emma abandoning Hook on top of the beanstalk. Then the next time we saw Neal he was engaged. Then Colin broke his leg, and not once did the writers take the chance to romantically further SF, or resolve their issues, in my opinion. They didn’t make any headway until 2×21, and the next episode Hook “came back” (even though he left in the first place, but he did come back) for Emma. Adam said that himself. I heard the spouting off of “kindred spirits” and thought that CS would end up as good friends. I didn’t pay attention the the parallels between Snowing and CS, believing that ours were just as good. However the fact that there are parallels between Snowing and CS right from the very start, shows that the writers were indeed writing for them to become canon.

When Emma kissed Hook in 3×05, despite just having lost Neal AND professing her love for him, i started getting inklings that CS were going in a direction i thought they wouldn’t.

I have found a lot of solace here. i have never been a hater of CS, they just didn’t speak to me the way SF did. What i loved most about this thread was that it was never a CS hating thread.

However that has changed… i don’t come here eager to read new posts anymore, because every second or third one was hating on CS in some way. This has become the anti CS thread, rather than the SF loving thread. Only a few pages ago there is a post from the anti CS tumblr page, a very sick and toxic page. Another couple of pages ago (or further) there is a picture of Hook suspended over a shark, where the poster wanted him to meet a violent death.

It makes me thoroughly sad to see.

I believe that Neal’s death was planned since 3×06 at the very least. To believe Neals death wasn’t planned and that MRJ wanted out is to believe the rumors of him trashing his trailer, which i absolutely refuse to believe.

RumplesGirl i love your posts, and i have seen your efforts not to respond to this hatefulness in this thread. You are a beacon of rationale in this thread.

I do not say these things to make you all sad, rather, Swanfire will always live on in my heart, even if i do now believe that CS were written from the get-go. I have gained a measure of peace now that i have accepted that, and i hope some of you do too.

I believe that CS will become fully canon tonight, and Emma will profess her love for Hook. I say these things to you now in the hopes that you do not fully become the CS hating thread. I am afraid that will happen after tonights episode.

This should be a Swanfire loving thread, in memory of Neal and Baelfire, and Hook shouldn’t be mentioned in it. Unfortunately it is human nature, but it means that i will no longer read this thread after today.

To RG and KFC especially, i say thank you, because you are the rational people here.
