If Hook getting home is the only plot point that matters, you can’t say all these scenes don’t matter. They are leading to the moment where he is able to finally go home. It’s called plot. It’s called a story. To just say that Hook can’t get back and not show us his struggle and who he meets and what he does to get back, and then poof, he’s back….well talk about underwhelming. Again, you may not like the plot of Hook being gone and trying to find his way home, but for the whole Hook finding his way home plot, what he’s doing is relevant (to that plot). It’s not like they showed us a scene where Hook strikes up a conversation with a local pigeon and has a drink with it. That would be irrelevant. But with Blackbeard, he got the bean from him. How? In a poker game Blackbeard cheated at. They then used the bean but it took them to Neverland instead. That’s called plot points. Again, you may not like the story/plot they are telling, and you may not like that the scenes were meshed in this episode with the Black Fairy, but nothing happened in Hook’s story in this episode that wasn’t relevant to him finding a way back home.
If they wanted to show him arrive in Neverland at the end of the episode via bean and run from some lost boys, that would have been enough to just establish that Hook was in Neverland.
Really? You wouldn’t be nagging on the show for not showing us how he got to Neverland? That would be ridiculous if all they showed was him in Neverland and didn’t show how he got there.
Except i can absolutely say that just showing Hook arriving on Neverland with a bean was all they needed to show. There are people that complain about the show not showing things that don’t need to be shown, but i am not one of them. Especially because there are so many important extremelly relevant scenes that would vastly enrich the characters and make their arcs and growth actually make sense. Those are the scenes that they should show. They could have had Hook get a bean from Aladdin or Jasmine or really any random way at the end of the last episode because it didn’t matter. There was no need to show a third of an episode of him doing a bunch of nothing.
Character growth is plot. This show does not have a plot anymore because the characters don’t grow. They don’t show the characters go to the bathroom or eat all the time or even go to work most of the time because it doesn’t matter. It was like them showing Hook poop for an episode instead of showing something of say Gideon interacting with Belle. I don’t even like Rumpel and Belle, but that would have at least made sense and been on point.
I think about Season 2 episode 2 when they just showed a scene right at the end of the episode where Snow and Emma are tied up and being dragged into the camp by Mulan and Aurora. They didn’t show how they got from unconscious to tied up and captured because, guess what, it didn’t matter.
I agree. Ariel could have given him a bean in the previous episode and in the current episode just have him landing in Neverland, then the lost boys start chasing him and he runs away. We didn’t need that whole Blackbeard crap.

Bar FarerParticipantWell, Isaac is Adam Horowitz, so maybe he shouldn’t count as well?
"All your questions are pointless"
Bar FarerParticipantI can’t wait for the black fairy to explain why she created a curse that does whatever the plot needs it to do…
"All your questions are pointless"
Bar FarerParticipantCora too! The best one.
I don’t think Cora counts. She was the Queen of Hearts and the miller’s daughter.
"All your questions are pointless"
Bar FarerParticipantUnless she’s revealed to have another identity, isn’t the Black Fairy the first “arc villain” that’s an original character for the show?
Nope.
Greg and Tamara, Isaac, I guess even Dark Swan."All your questions are pointless"

If I am not mistaken Emma tried to kill Belle on several different occasions, and imprisoned Rumple while she was the dark one, and then lets not forget sending Rumple away from Belle to the underworld by blackmailing him (while she was not the dark one). Hook has tried to kill Belle and Rumple on several different occasions. Rumple has every right to protect his son from Emma who has made it very obvious in the last couple of seasons that Rumple and Belle are not in her “family” and therefore do not deserve her protection. Emma has become a “savior” when it effects only the ones she loves.
Well I never said that Rumple isn’t justified in what he is saying either. He should have threatened her back. My only issue is with people that said Emma was wrong for doing the threatening. I think they both have to look out for each other and each other’s loved ones and Gideon is a wild card. It makes perfect sense for them both to act the way they are acting.
Exactly!! But the show TELLS us that Emma and Snow are the heroes and Rumple and Gideon are the villains so we need to be on Emma and Snow’s side even though they act exactly like Tumple and Gideon.
Oh I’m sorry. Did Emma try and kill Gideon twice? Did Emma murder hundreds of people as the DO? Did Emma trick everyone to get the DO one power back? Did Emma treat Hook with such disrespect as Rumple does with Belle? Has she ever threatened Hook like Rumple threatens Belle? Has Emma and Snow sucked all of Blue Fairy’s power away? The show is portraying them as villains bc they are doing horrible things. You cannot compare them to the story and what’s happening right now. To say they act exactly like Rumple and Gideon is asinine.
Emma tried to kill Belle,an innocent by making Merida, another innocent, do it by controlling her heart (and then it was swept under the rug and no one mentioned it anymore cause).
The characters are inconsistent and we try to analyse then but we can’t because the show change their personality according to what they want to do this episode. One episode will have Emma/Rumple/anyone do the most heroic thing, the next they are shady as the blue fairy so… I don’t know if there is a point to this argument anymore.
Let’s just go with what the show tells us and that’s Emma hero, Rumple villain even if they don’t act like that.

” I understand that situation we’re in is complicated, but your son has tried to kill ne and sent Hook away. He has told me about this black fairy that he needs to stop and I came to you in order to understand who he is talking about. We need to work together to understand what Gideon wants so nobody would get hurt again. How can we do this?”

April 12, 2017 at 2:19 pm in reply to: 6×16 "Mother's Little Helper"–Favorite and Least Favorite Moments #335870Bar FarerParticipantShe’s upset bc he deceived her, left her for dead and TRIED TO KILL HER TWICE.
First of all, the shop scene was before Gideon deceived her it was right after he told her that he was being abused by the black fairy, needed her help to save 100’s of children, and that Hook was not hurt just away. She then decided to go to the shop with dear old mom who should have been filled in about all this with Emma and said that your son has a death wish and I am happy to fulfill it. Your son is using Hook as a bargaining chip. This is my problem, she has used Belle very recently as a bargaining chip and therefore is being a hypocrite and blackmailing Rumple was not very “hero” like.
She’s upset bc he deceived her, left her for dead and TRIED TO KILL HER TWICE. And separated her from Hook. You’re making it seem like what Gideon has done is minor. If someone tried to kill you twice and sent away the person you loved and deceived you after they said they were good, would you just do what Rumbelle is telling you? Do what the Dark One is telling you, someone who would protect his son no matter what he was doing. Of course not. You would defend yourself and try and get rid of them.
Well by this reasoning, Rumple is completely justified in killing Emma and Hook. April 12, 2017 at 1:59 pm in reply to: 6×16 "Mother's Little Helper"–Favorite and Least Favorite Moments #335861Bar FarerParticipantBecause in the pilot it was about standing up to bullies and now it’s about being one?
SHE ALMOST DIED AND GIDEON TRIED TO KILL HER TWICE AND HE TOOK HOOK AWAY FROM HER. AND NOW SHE WANTS TO PROTECT HERSELF AND HER FAMILY IN CASE HE TRIES TO DO IT AGAIN. How on earth is that her being a bully? After nearly dying twice, don’t you think she is entitled to handle things her way this time after Gideon failed to be nice? She gave him a chance per Rumple and Belle’s wishes. What is she supposed to do? Just be cool with it and hope he doesn’t try and kill her again. Oh and just keep living without Hook? I really do not understand your point at all.
Because Emma is supposed to be a “hero” and rather than showing sympathy towards RumBelle and the situation with Gideon, Emma is marching into the shop and threatening to kill their son all because she’s mad that Gideon sent away Hook. Emma’s anger seems to focus on that rather than Gideon’s attempted murder of her.
He tried to kill her twice too! It’s not just about hook. Like this is a guy whom she already gave a second chance to. How can she just say, ok guys you’re right. I believe you. He’s a good boy. HOW? She can’t.
This! Emma is upset that Gideon is messing with her life, and the hypocrisy is almost unforgiving. She went in there and stated that Gideon is using Hook as a bargaining chip while she has done the exact same thing to Rumple. She went into his shop and blackmailed him to take them to the underworld by using Belle. And guess what you could blame Emma for the entire Gideon mess if you want to she was the first domino in all of this. You have this paired with the Charmings doing the exact same thing, Snow stating that she would love to help Emma because they need bonding time is horribly ridiculous. These are supposed to be our “heroes” and they are being self centered, hypocritical jerks
So let me get this straight. Gideon tries to kill Emma twice, deceives her after she gave him a second chance per Rumbelle’s wishes, and sends the man she loves away and she’s being self-centered for wanting something to be done to prevent this from happening anymore to her? She isn’t upset because Gideon is messing with her life. And that’s what she is doing. If I was her, I’d be so done with all the crap about him being a good person and that he’s just messed up bc of the Black Fairy. That may be true, but HE TRIED TO KILL ME TWICE! I’d have to do something about it at this point. And trying to protect myself and my family doesn’t make me self-centered.
The threat wasn’t to Gideon though, it was to his parents, including his mother, Belle, who just lost her son. Do you know who was in the same situation? Snow (and Emma kind of), so you would think that them being in the same situation as Belle would make them sympathize with her, you would think that coming at her the way they did is insensitive (Belle’s lack of reaction is a different matter).
It is as if Emma stopped being a mother and turned into a lovesick teenager, oh wait…"All your questions are pointless"
