"All your questions are pointless"
Bar FarerParticipantI went on this huge rant about Neal and the show a few days ago with a friend. I don’t know if I’ve ever talked about it here, but I’m actually in film school right now (I moved across the country to get a MA in Film and TV Production) and Eddy and Adam were huge inspirations for me–which was part of the reason I was so incredibly hurt by what they did with Neal and the show. I really believed it was something special and that they were doing something different with the story telling. I’m so tired of all the grim fatalism in television that’s out there, Once was a breath of fresh air to me. On a lighter note, ‘Devil’s Due’ inspired my most indulgent side, and I actually wrote Once fic again for the first time in years. IT’S TOTALLY RIDICULOUS BUT THERE YOU GO: http://archiveofourown.org/works/6422305
They tossed their vision aside for popularity and ratings.

Bar FarerParticipantAny thoughts on why it is called “Our Decay?” It seems like such a morbid title but I don’t see it referring to anything that could have happened in Oz with Hades and Zelena. Is it storybrooke people or UW people? Or something else? Who is decaying? haha.
It’s a meta title.

Bar FarerParticipantMaybe when Snow White declared that she’s no longer Mary Margaret, it applied to all of the characters with two different names.

He is the one that the writers like to write as the one who can do no right so I’m sure there will be some sort of contrived uncharacteristic reason to why he would want to kill Robin.

I think they have nightmares if they ever came here and read what everyone writes…. I do think they must lurk here sometimes. . .
There are people who write them criticism on Twitter, but they just treat it as if it is “hate” or shippers being disappointed and dismiss it.

While I’m glad that Emma was blamed for being selfish. I wish it came from other characters and I don’t feel like it was portrayed as something serious that she needs to learn from, basically it was used as a “clue” that something is wrong with Liam and not as observing some kind of flaw with Emma. By the end of the episode, Emma didn’t learn anything or didn’t grow as a character.
In addition, while I agree that Emma has become selfish, I still think that she is too good for a murdering jerk who still keeps things from his victims. I really don’t get why they need to portray Hook as a martyr, he is not a martyr, he has done horrible despicable things, stop whitewash him. It’s as if they are insecure about what the viewers think about him so they have to shove what a great guy he is down our throat.
Moreover, the excuse of Hook doing all those horrible things because Emma pissed him off is not acceptable. This is yet again a depiction of the battered wife syndrom.

Bar FarerParticipantWhat bothered me is that they disregarded that Rumple broke only one deal – leaving EF with Bae, which was a huge plot point in season 1.
I really don’t care their characters or don’t think about their motivation or what is logical for the characters to do in order to develop them. They just think: “I want this to happen now” and they just make it happen even though it doesn’t make sense. That’s why we get things like Snow and Charming don’t want to fight anymore. Regina suddenly isn’t so sure of her magic (514 delt with a theme that was covered in both 502 and 511. Something that was never shown to be a problem before s5, we get it just because and it’s repetitive and redundant and thrown in there just to be there). Henry coming to the Underworld, and now Rumple doesn’t know about deals so much, even though they were fascinating for him.
OUAT is not character driven since season 3. Characters have become templates for the plot. After 5B is over, they’ll hit the reset button and we’ll start over when everything that happened has little to no effect in the future. I think the only important event 5B will give us that will remain for the arcs to come is that Snow White is not Mary Margaret anymore (I hope).
