And here I thought that this was something like a battle between Hook and the Huntsman. That would be cool.

Would be a cool matchup. Hook does believe in his code of honor… good form and all that. If the Huntsman won, do you think he’d shed a tear for Hook? 😆

I feel they have plenty of wiggle room to make Hook darker while keeping him sympathetic. Giving Colin more villainous moments to sink his teeth into would be fun to watch. Rumbelle is one of my favorite ships, but I loved Hook finally getting to do something cruel when he shot Belle over the line. It gives more dramatic possibilities to both the Rumple oriented characters and to Hook. Win-win.

Okay, Emma would be NO relation to Rumple no matter what happens. He would be her son’s grandfather and that’s it. Not even father-in-law as her and Neal were never married.

    Regina would be:

Snow’s stepmother, Emma’s step-grandmother, Henry’s step-great grandmother and adoptive mother. None of them blood related.

If by some wild chance that Rumple is her father, then she would be blood related to Neal, who would be her brother and would make her Henry’s biological aunt. Cora would be nothing to Henry blood-wise.

    Rumple would be:

      Neal’s father, Henry’s grandfather.

If he’s Regina’s biological father, then that would be just that…Regina’s biological father.

He would never be a blood relation, but if he were Regina’s father he would be Snow’s stepgrandfather. Lots of kids have stepgrandparents. That would make him Emma’s stepgreat-grandfather. Again not a blood relation.

Mulan is one of my favorite Disney movies/heroines. I need backstory on the Once version… her travels with Phillip, her time in the Imperial Army… and where’s Shang?

    Granny’s story would be awesome.

Also curious what happened with Gerhardt for the last 28 years.

I think it makes a great juxtaposition to have the beginning of Rumple’s destiny with the conclusion of a couple centuries of searching for his son. It seems like it closes one story arc and begins Rumple’s next arc. I’m sure well get more of Bae’s backstory later.

Looking forward to all the reunions and to Henry and Neal meeting for the first time.

I remember last season reading a discussion on twop about how cool it would be to see Regina when the curse first brought them to SB and wondering how she would cope with technology and such. Always thought the premise sounded cool. Guess the wish to see how it worked is coming true.

I’m stoked about having Graham back for this one. I still really miss him. Yay, Jamie Dornan!

I think it makes Mihla Emma’s Aunt, not great grandmother, or is it?

If Bae is Neal then Milah and Rumple have no relation to Emma at all. If Neal and Emma had married, Milah and Rump would just be Emma’s in-laws. Not aunt, not grandmother, no. Father and mother in law. If they had married. But they didn’t.

If Neal is Bae, then Rump and Milah are just the parents of the guy Emma slept with.

Exactly. That’s why this topic was confusing me, and I was asking if they were assuming the theory about Regina being Rumple’s daughter was true or something. Even that wouldn’t make Milah connected to Emma, but it would still have more bearing than Emma’s ex-boyfriend on her relations.

So, I was thinking about Neal being Bae, as you do, and I suddenly realized something. Something that’s a little bit, ah, creepy.

If Neal is Bae, then that makes Rumple and Mihla Henrys grandparents, right? And it makes them Emma’s great grandparents? Or is it her aunt and uncle? I get confused with all this family tree stuff. Doesn’t really matter, they’re related.

I don’t see any way that Rumple or Milah would be related to Emma in that scenario. Are you assuming that Rumple is Regina’s father instead of Henry? That’s still only a theory rather than canon to the best of my knowledge. Is there some other connection that I’m missing?

Neal being Bae would still make Milah the grandmother of Henry though.

I really don’t think Colin has any plans to leave the show. OUAT is good for his career; he’s getting great exposure from being on a hit series. He seems to get along with everyone. I haven’t seen anything to point to him leaving at all.

I do get what you mean about recasting rather than killing off characters if actors become unavailable. I can think of multiple shows that were ruined for me by an actor leaving and their character being killed. One series killed their romantic lead during the Christmas special after his wife in the show had just given birth, and that was the second major character killed in that season. I will never watch another episode of that show again. I’m more inclined to the theater approach. They didn’t close down Phantom of the Opera just because Michael Crawford moved on. There are times I’m okay with killing the character (Mitchell in Being Human was very well done), but not when there’s an ongoing story that really needs to be explored and concluded.

I’m okay with Colin in the role, but I get what others are saying about an older, more seasoned actor. Jason Isaacs played my favorite portrayal of Hook for reference. He brought a terrific sense of menace and sexiness to the role despite being in a children’s movie. He has a very powerful presence onscreen. An actor of his caliber and presence playing against Robert Carlyle could have been electrifying. Colin’s very attractive, and I like him, but he does get lost against the other villians. Compared to the strong presences of Cora, Rumple, and Regina, he’s kinda like the Diet Coke of evil. Just one calorie… not quite evil enough. Still I’m going to give him more time and just see where they take this incarnation of Hook.
