BelleOfTheBallParticipant
I’m a big fan of Captain Swan… but why Hook?? That makes no sense. Sure, he is being redeemed. And sure, he wants to save his girlfriend. But i dont see the connection of why it would be him.
My thoughts are Arthur, because she had to bring him to Storybrook for some reason. Or…
Is it possible for Light Emma to be the one to pull the sword? With her being a TL baby and having pure light magic because of the whole Lily situation, it makes me wonder if she kinda has a Jekyll and Hyde personality inside her. The darkness has taken over now with the help of DO! Rumple, but perhaps the light can shine through if she accessed it. Would the sword then allow her to pull from the stone because it would read her as pure light magic?
This leads me to a question I posted in another thread – could Light Emma (Or Light Regina) then forge the sword back together with light magic instead of dark and snuff out the DO curse? Supposedly Emma putting the sword back together with Dark magic would snuff out the light, so why can’t it go the other way?
[adrotate group="5"]BelleOfTheBallParticipantWhat if Emma (Or Regina depending on her redemption arc) forge the sword back together with light magic and not dark. Will that snuff out the dark as Rumple says it will the light?
BelleOfTheBallParticipantAm i the only one who is starting to ship ShadyKing and SneakyFairy? I think they would make a wonderful pair and 5b could be about stopping that power couple.
September 29, 2015 at 11:36 am in reply to: 5×01 “The Dark Swan” what are your FAVORITE and LEAST favorite moments? #308739BelleOfTheBallParticipantOkay so lots to say about this episode. As far as season openers go, I liked it. It made me excited to see where they are going to take the season. I know in the past I have been iffy on some season openers (cough frozen cough), but I think they set up a pretty good story line for this season… with the exception of amnesia… but we will get there.
LIKES
– “Your turn”. Best line of the episode in my opinion. Well timed and I cant wait to see more of Lancelot (assuming Cora didn’t actually kill him).
-Belle and her rose. This one I am only putting in the like category because of my deep love for all things Beauty and the Beast. I was like a kid in a candy shop when the rose appeared (and in its glass casing!). However, i do wonder what the point of the rose is from a writers standpoint. I understand that Blue made it so Belle can return before her Rumple dies. But at the end of the episode, the heroes return and so little time has passed in Storybrooke that the rose seems mildly useless. I get that it was 6 weeks over in Camelot, but if time works differently (or they kind of skipped back in time?) what is the point of the rose? As far as Rumple is concerned, Belle could have just gone out for some groceries. She wasnt missing long Storybrook time. So whats the point of the rose? Its rather heavy to lug around for her to only be gone 10 minutes our time.
-Unlike what many people have said before me, I didn’t mind Emma rising from the goo. If she disappeared in a cloud of DO smoke, where else would it take her but the vault? It makes sense that her DO journey would start there only because she got the curse in a very different way than Rumple. If it had just thrown her onto the ground of the EF i think I would have been more confused. It makes sense that she ended up in the EF simply because of the vault and that where she is “born” as the DO. Also, as someone had mentioned before me (sorry i couldn’t find the post to quote!) we dont know Rumple didnt go to the goo. Just because we didnt see it, doesnt mean it didnt happen. If I remember correctly, they didnt show much after he stabbed Zozo. So he may have gotten swept up and reborn just like Emma.
-Merida. Now, I have not actually seen Brave, but i know quite a lot about the movie anyway. And from what i can tell, Merida’s character is spot on. Her red hair didn’t bother me, i still thought it looked good on her. I’m not sure I would have been so forgiving to someone who had almost just crushed my heart…. probably would have fled the scene the moment i got my heart back. But i can assume that’s to set up a later interaction and i’ll go with it.
-RumpleDO and Emma were perfect together. They made the episode as good as it was. JMo did a fantastic job reacting to Emmas struggle and it was nice to see Bobby play mysterious imp Rumple again. All i can say is I hope there is much much more where that came from.
-Hook stopping Snow from using the dagger against Emma. I feel like he understands her so well. Watching him pull her out from the darkness was just beautiful. It made my little shipper heart happy =)
DISLIKES
-Hook and Henry’s interaction. Now don’t get me wrong. I am a big Hook fan. And throughout most of the episode I understood his desperation. If i put myself in his shoes and I just watched the person I love get swept up by a giant vortex of Evil, I would be pretty frantic to find her and save her too *especially with his familiarity with the darkness. Snowing has run a kingdom before and know how to deal with many situations and remain calm all the same. They have learned not to be so desperate and to look at the problem from all angles. But Hook sees things only one way. So I get it. And it didnt bother me. What did bother me was him manipulating Henry. That whole scene was just wrong. And i’m going to leave it at that.
– How did Snow not go off the hinges when her daughter turned one of the dwarfs to stone? I know she was afraid and all but i expected a “listen here young lady” speech.
-Zelina. Just Zelina. No one in the gang wants her around, you have her locked up in a cell…. why not just let her go back to Oz? She doesnt want to be you anymore, Regina. She just wants to have her child and have it love her. If you let her go back to Oz, she will be out of your hair. I just dont understand why they dragged her to Camelot either.. with the cuff on her, they could have put some spell on her cell door so no one can go in and left her in Storybrooke. I just don’t understand that whole plot line. And the constant reminder of what she did to Robin is just NOT okay.. family show or not.
-And the big one… WHY DOESNT ANYONE HAVE THEIR MEMORIES. AGAIN. Adam. Eddie. You have used this same plot device so many times you are generally frightening me that you can’t come up with anything else. What was wrong with simply leaving the audience in the dark?? You could have done the exact same scene with some vague dialogue (“Emma it wasn’t our fault.” or “Emma we didn’t mean to” or even “Emma please listen”). The audience wouldn’t know what happened but we wouldn’t be left with clueless main characters YET AGAIN. The season could have still been about the audiences journey to discover 6 weeks of Camelot. Why do the characters always have to discover with us? just. Ugh. There are no words for my frustrations in this matter.
-Are we time jumping again?… Or are we just going to go with the whole “Time works differently” excuse again?
Questions:
So how long has Merlin actually been missing? Because Arthur seems to know him and know his prophesies but he also laughs when Emma asks how long he has been missing for.
Sorry this ended up being such a long post!
BelleOfTheBallParticipantEven so, Henry could’ve willingly kissed his mom just because he was glad to see her. Bata bing.
Yes, but we can’t have a logical solution to an illogical problem, now can we? Ok, in all seriousness — would a hug/relieved kiss from the kiddo work as a TLK? Would a routine peck shared by an established, long-married couple have curse breaking potential? I get a feeling that the answer is no — they wouldn’t have enough gravitas. Now, if ever OUAT did go there, I’d be seriously impressed. In fact, have a toddler run up to their parent and kiss them and break their curse — totally by accident. Just because it’s a toddler, and, you know, they love mama or dada because they’re mama or dada. Or have the boring couple share that tired peck on the cheek at the end of a long day, and boom, no more curse! Now, that sort of reinterpretation of TLK will blow my mind. But sadly I don’t think we’ll ever see anything like that on OUAT — doesn’t make for a good story Call me a pessimist.
I’ve wondered this since Season 1 ; what requirements come with TLK? We saw in Season 1, Snow drank a potion from Rumple that made her forget Charming. When charming kissed her to try and break the curse, it did not work. However, when she saw him take an arrow from her and SHE initiated the kiss, the curse was broken and she remembered her Prince. It seems to me that TLK must come in a very emotional moment (of course, this works better for storytelling too). Snow had her curse broken when she realized someone took an arrow for her he cared so much. Rumple’s curse was (almost) broken when Belle returned to him and he never expected to see her again. Regina’s curse was broken when Emma thought Henry had died and she was saying her final goodbye to him. And so on.
Emma was for sure emotional in that moment and saw how much her family cared for her that they came all the way to the Enchanted Forest to save her. It seems to me that if TLK must be done at a time of extreme emotion, that would have been a good call. But of course, taking Emma from the darkness in the first Episode would take away this seasons plot, so no TLK for this DO anytime soon.
BelleOfTheBallParticipantI have some major issues with the apprentice (who I am just going to refer to as SA = Sorcerers Apprentice, until we have an actual name) telling Lily her whole life story.
First, I understand he was probably trying to heal his own conscious. We saw at the beginning of the episode that he was upset and distraught by what Isaac forced him to do to baby dragon. However, telling a troubled young child that they are destined to be problematic and that they can’t fix themselves because they were magically charmed to be that way was probably not the best approach. We really should have gone more with a “u’re a wizard, Lily” moment with a simple explication of why she was different, rather than telling he she was doomed. Hagrid didn’t tell Harry he was doomed when he busted into the cabin on a rock! He kind of put this idea in her mind that she shouldn’t even try to fix herself because she was programmed to be this way. No wonder she wanted revenge.
Secondly, WHY DID YOU NOT FILL IN EMMA?! You can go find the anti-savior and set her on a path of distruction and revenge but you can’t stop by and say hey to the girl who is going to save everyone?! It’s like you want the villains to win.
BelleOfTheBallParticipantHaha well I did not know that about the finale. Hmmmm makes me more curious if maybe this crack theory could go somewhere..
BelleOfTheBallParticipantI really like this theory. Great connections and really solid thought process. As much as I hate seeing the Villains get the upper hand in most situations I would love to see Emma go dark for an episode or two. I’d actually love to see it not resolved immediately and to kinda be a “to be continued” episode.
That being said, the idea of Emma being reborn as a more powerful savior really is what got me on board with this theory. I think Emma has so much more potential than she knows. She us getting her magic down, but when it comes to using it in “battle” she needs Regina help. However, I hope she doesn’t join the list of characters on the “Just Kidding! I’m not dead!” List. I’m getting a little tired of that theme. I’d prefer to see her just break through the darkness and turn Golds dark Magic he pours into her into light magic and defeats him with his own power.
BelleOfTheBallParticipantI don’t think we will ever see the AU or for that matter ever try and go back and make it happen (I’m hoping we are 100000% done with time traveling after last year). But I thought it was a cool concept and explication as to why the page exists.
I completely agree that taking away a characters free will is a horrible idea, however the way I understood the episode it seemed that the Author did take away the Apprentices free will in the Snowing situation. Unless the apprentice could not lie to Snow when she asked him if there wasn’t a way to ensure Emma’s goodness (some contract with his position or something) then it seems the Author was controlling all actions in THIS situation.
Now we can assume that the last 6-7 months or so before the curse hit that no one was being controlled by said quill (if that’s the way A&E choose to go with this story line), but I still don’t think every action we have seen in 4 seasons has been written or controlled. I was merely suggesting that perhaps this was the way the Author got the ball rolling on his version of the story. He couldn’t have changed that many things or else the Apprentice would have known long before Snowing came to him. Perhaps this was just a push in the right direction for Regina to become evil. I see him more as a puppet master. Changing one simple decision of a character and it sets off a chain effect. I don’t think he wrote the evil things Regina did. I just think if he simply wrote she walked away rather than going inside. I still believe Regina choices and things she did were her. But perhaps that one small change in her story was all it took for her to break.
BelleOfTheBallParticipantI have mixed feelings on the Author(s) reveal. I was surprised by the idea that there was more than one author throughout this story… kind of made the reveal of a random guy trapped in a book a little less exciting. It made me almost feel like I didn’t meet THE Author. But just A Author.i guess i was excited about the prospect of who this author could be, and now i feel like its just some guy rather than the possibility of a charcter or a real author. On the other hand, I loved the shout out and explinations to storytellers in our world that we know and love.
I think mostly the shout out to Authors in our world wasn’t so much of a timeline clue but just an “easter egg” of some famous writters as a tribute to their work.
I don’t know who I expected to jump from the book, but it wasn’t the mischievious man this guy seems to be. Should be interesting to see where they go with this and how much power they reallygive him to write futures and endings.
Perhaps his involvement in the Snowing story changed the original outcome of what would haved been if they just continued home. Sort of like the changes made to the book from when Emma and Hook interacted with Snowing of the past. Maybe he cant write anything other than what happens, but by involving himself in the story he can steer them one way or another to MAKE a good story.
