Am I the only one who feels just by the promo that this episode is a bit out of place? I haven’t looked at spoilers for this episode, just the promo, but I just don’t see this conecting to last weeks episode. I expected a hunt for the author between the heroes and villains and I got very little storybrook going on here. Not to mention I am not thrilled to see Zelena again. Does anyone stay dead on this show?? Oh wait, the heroes always do.
That being said, I do really like the idea that Zelena is in Rumples head as he kind of decends into maddness. Zelena was after all the one to take away his happy ending. I don’t like the feeling that Ursula is out so they need to replace her to keep this whole “Queens of Darkness” theme up, which is my initial reaction to the return of Zelena. Not sure I can see Zelena following Mal or Rumple around like Ursula did, however she has her own happy ending she wants rewritten so maybe she will be her own hunting party for the author.
All together I can’t say I’m too excited for next week based on this promo…
[adrotate group="5"]March 23, 2015 at 5:50 pm in reply to: Poseidon & Ursula's Divinity and the Sea Goddess of Old #299623BelleOfTheBallParticipantIt said in the episode that Merrin Ursula was named after the sea goddess. Which explains why all the Ursuals we have seen thus far look different.
The Original deity Ursula was the one that came to life through the mirror, the one who was the statue, and the one Regina impersonated during “Ariel.”
This Ursula was named after the the Ursula above and turned herself into an octopus to be more like the goddess she was named after. So far, we have not seen this Ursula in action, as we know the Ursula that goes with the Little Mermaid Story was the Evil Queen in disguise.
I don’t have a problem with the show not specifying if she was a deity like her father – i think it is a minor detail. Perhaps that was the reason she could take to magic so easily and become a famous villain. None the less, I didn’t feel like i was missing something from the episode by them not specifying. She may have some sort of royal blood in her – but her father is probably immortal as most gods are so I don’t think she could ever claim the sea for her own or anything like that.
March 23, 2015 at 5:18 pm in reply to: FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS from … 4 X 15 POOR UNFORTUNATE SOULS . . #299618BelleOfTheBallParticipantTHIS EPISODE WAS MY FAVORITE IN ALL OF SEASON 4!
I havent posted recently on the forums because I have been less and less enthusiastic about this show tbh. I fell in love with OUAT because of season 1. I loved the mystery of it. I loved the way they weaved stories. I loved the little nick-nacks in town that belonged to our favorite fairy tales. And recently, I have felt they have gotten so far away from that concept. I see them less as fairy tale characters and more as almost their storybook characters now. I dont relate them to the stories I know and love and that really stinks.
But THIS EPISODE brought all that back. It wasn’t a crazy take on a tale that we knew that was hardly believable just so two people had a back story together. IT MADE SENSE. Ursula had a backstory THAT WASN’T ABOUT LOOSING A MAN. Just kissing… but really that needs to stop being the reason everyone is evil..
I loved the way they brought in the shell that would later take Ariel’s voice in the Disney Movie. I love the introduction of squid ink to the Captain. I loved that Ursula redeemed herself in the end and reunited with her father. I love that they actually said “Little Mermaid” in the episode. I love that they gave a reason for Ursula to be half squid. Honestly, I don’t have much bad to say about this episode. Ursula is my favorite Disney Villain so if this is the way her story goes I am 100% happy with keeping it at that.
I mostly liked the Storybrook aspect as well. Loved how they brought in Pinocchio’s growing nose since we never actually saw that in FTL. I could do without Gold continuously hurting Belle, but it’s something I think I am going to have to get used to at this point. I’m not sure how they are going to go about this whole “The author is inside the book” theory but I’m intrigued.
All in All, this episode actually saved the series a bit for me. Last week I wasn’t sure how much longer I was going to continue watching.
BelleOfTheBallParticipantI found this episode to be overwhelming with information. It was nice to FINALLY get an idea of why DQ is in town and what she is up to, but the writers threw everything at us in minutes. I don’t mind them using elements from the Frozen story to help move along the Once story ( such as grand pabie telling Anna about her aunts ) . There would be no one else who would make to tell Anna about her family’s past. It is a themed season and the theme is Frozen. I honestly think they did a smart thing involving the SnowQueen so that it didn’t become the Anna and Elsa show. We still see both characters a lot, but the show’s focus is on this new character and her mystery.
Going back to the layout of this episode, Belle kind of announcing the point of the mirror was a strange way to deliver the information. I would have liked to see Rumple explain what she saw and why it happened while trying to calm her down, then have a scene cut in where Rumple has just finished telling the rest of the town and they react.
I was left confused as to why Emma looks identical to Elsa’s aunt. We know Emma’s family tree so there is no way that Emma could be blood related to Elsa or her family. I’m sure they will go into why they look so much alike but it felt just thrown at us like a side note.
Also Belle using the dagger against Rumple seemed oOC to me but I appriciated that they covered that and handled it as the episode went on
BelleOfTheBallParticipantUsing his father’s death as an excuse to get close to Rumple for Regina’s benefit was a horrible idea both on Henry’s character and the writting for this show. I can only hope that Henry’s innocence the character usually has (at least until this moment) comes back as quickly as possible and Rumple isn’t too hurt by the manipulation. I hope Henry is honest about his intentions to learn about the book’s author as well as leave this apprenticeship closer to Grandpa Rumps.
BelleOfTheBallParticipantDid anyone else make the connection that the apprentice got turned into a mouse and Mikey Mouse was the apprentice in Disney’s version of the story?
BelleOfTheBallParticipantAlthough I am not a crazed Frozen fan, I do enjoy the movie and I was interested to see where they would go with this story line. So far, I have enjoyed it. I love both actresses that play Anna and Elsa, I think they are perfect for the part, plucked right out of the movie while being able to let their own acting talents sine through.
With that being said, I would be a little disappointed if the writers took the route that Anna and Elsa were not sisters by blood. Of course, they grew up together and they are still sisters. But their relationship is so powerful, I would hate to see them play with that. We just played with the whole sister storyline in 3b and if EM’s character is in fact Anna, it would be a little too much like 3A for me with Pan being Malcolm. I am totally on board with the aunt storyline though. Here is how I see it:
Elsa and Anna’s mother had a sister, EM’s character. They grew up in Arrendell but when the sisters powers are discovered by their parents, she is banished (or shunned) , and ends up in the enchanted forest. This would make sense why Elsa’s parents worked so hard to accept Elsa and help her deal with her powers, her mother didn’t want to repeat the past. But when Elsa’s powers grow, they go on a journey to see EM’s character for suggestions on how to control her niece’s powers. They explain in the note that she is the one that can help and teach Elsa.
Something along those line. I just dont like the idea of EM being mom.
BelleOfTheBallParticipantI am surprised by all the negative comments about the episode. Although it was not one of my favorite Once episodes, I was not upset by the curse twist or the splitting of the heart. I think Charming and Snow’s love is different than anyone else’s in the entire show. They have a connection like no one else. Do Belle and Rumple love each other, of course. As did Regina and Daniel. But none of them have the connection that S and C have. Their children are the sole products of true love. They can feel each other’s pain. They are connected on so many levels that our other couples haven’t quite reached yet. I don’t think splitting of hearts would work for just anyone. I think you need to have the incredibly stron emotion and connection to one another as though you already shared one heart in order for this to work. They reached that point.
As as for not paying the price I am kind of stuck between arguments. Snow simply performing the act shows what she was willing to sacrifice but I do agree that she kinda copped out of the price that needed to be paid. I do agree though that the price now will be what happens to one happens to the other. We lose C then we also lose S.
BelleOfTheBallParticipantHoly hot chemistry, batman!!
I have watched this clip 3 times now and each time my heart stops when he starts walking towards her and leans in to get the wiskey bottle. The look on her face when he reaches past her is perfect. God I love them together. Loved the idea of outlaw queen beforebut seeing it on screen has made me a million times happier.
