Dead is Dead, so if he was really dead, then Gold should stay that way – as much as it pains me. Of course that would suck a million different ways…………My favorite character would be gone, his story ending in hopelessness, Rumbelle would be over and so that story would end in hopelessness….. and Belle would be shattered.
Zombie Gold …ugh, no. He doesn’t deserve that…….Good point about being frozen, but if he’d been dead, his clothes would still look the same on him as they did in episode 311; here they are baggy and ill-fitting, indicating poor baby has not been living well at all
[adrotate group="5"]Marty, I tend to think he’s looking at her with love and is unable to do anything about it simply because he is standing there helpless…..he looks like he did standing there in Going Home. It could be anything, of course, but ugh – we have to wait to find out.
So I dunno that the pics are convincing me just yet, but I do know that the more I think about it, the more I like the idea that the part that killed Malcolm is rusted, but the end of it that went into Rumple’s body is still shiny.
I sort of am intrigued by this as well, though I don’t quite kow what it would mean. I’d like to believe the golden light indicated that Gold’s sacrifice redeemed/saved him/broke his curse (whatever). Maybe the only way he could be saved truly is to be reborn again elsewhere? If he was undone, even if it was just the DO, then he’d have to sort of find himself again? Maybe Gold has been living on his own for that year and he only just recently encountered WW? Why is he still wearing his suit? Maybe he was put under some sort of spell for most of that year, sort of like cryogenics? I mean, if he hasn’t had access to a razor and a place to change clothes, why does he not have a beard? Being frozen would account for this… though that wouldn’t explain why anyone/WW would freeze a man who doesn’t seem to belong in that land
Marty, I refuse to believe that. I don’t believe that after his beautiful redemption arc that ended in his “death” by sacrifice that his undoing is the undoing of his humanity. I think he was de-cursed in some way….
So maybe the real question is: who is controlling whom?
If Rumple is actually manipulating the WW, then Belle might look sad because she thinks he didn’t change after his big sacrifice. But what she doesn’t realize is that once again Rumple is protecting everyone from an evil person.I would love it if Gold were manipulating the WW; he’s a naturally clever and brilliant man without his powers and he knows how to get people to do what they think they want.
I’m not sure what changes Belle would expect Gold to have made after his sacrifice; she knows he’s changed man, knew it even well before the sacrifice. If WW was waving around the dagger and it appears he’s being controlled (even if he’s faking), then I suppose she’d be distraught that he no longer has control of himself, that he may be forced into doing things that he doesn’t want to. She looks crestfallen, disappointed, so many things. We can’t see his face. I’ve been assuming he’s looking at her with love in his eyes; what happens if he’s looking at her with anger and madness? I doubt it because why would WW care how he looks at her – and she’s busy dealing with everyone else? Maybe he told Belle not to come near……..I would kill to hear what they said to each other, if anything.
IF he’s faking, I wonder if he would tell Belle……..

I will say that he put it oddly, saying that Gold went into the dagger; I mean, who speaks like that? Why not just say he stabbed himself or he saw the dagger enter him? Of course, Gold did sort of thrust himself into the dagger as he thrust that into him, so who knows? It’s possible…. I mean, ANYTHING is possible. As I mentioned above, I don’t understand why Gold’s sacrifice gets him nothing but more pain…….
Why can’t it be the first time she’s seen him? As for knowing he’s being controlled, someone who was there watching said he walked in behind WW, and she’s there waving his dagger around, so it’s a reasonable assumption for Belle to make that he’s being controlled.
Oh right, I forgot that. Poor Belle…….she sees him and can’t even hug him, can’t even freak out in a happy way, sigh. I swear, Rumbelle hurts so much – they are all pain and tragedy. I can’t stand the thought of them being apart like this for the rest of the season and not getting an epic reunion
How do I know? The same way you and everyone else who is speculating he went into the dagger knows………I don’t. We’re all speculating. You read the quote one way and I read it another; we won’t actually know until we see it on screen. It’s interesting, but I’ve never seen that speculated anywhere else, so it’s not like it’s a universal theory…..and why would he go to Oz? Why would he go anywhere? What bugs me is that he disappeared probably to keep Rumbelle apart – a total plot device.
I’m still in the camp that the price for Rumple coming back is that he loses his Dark One powers. but probably just has standard magic. good magic.
I think that’s a price he is clearly willing to pay – in fact he was willing to pay with his life….,but if that was the only price, losing his DO powers, why did he disappear? He should have been redeemed and saved by his actions and instead he’s torn apart froml his loved ones? That’s a punishment, not a reward.
He didn’t mean it like that, he mean that he went into the knife in the sense of being stabbed……….I don’t see that as Eddy saying he was trapped. He really contradicts himself. On the one hand, he says that Gold is definitely dead. Then he says basically “well, he SHOULD be dead because he stabbed himself, but who knows?”
Eddy says stupid things all the time, things that are aggravating and make no sense. This is not aggravating, just silly because (a) dead is dead so if Gold is dead, how is he coming back and (b) referring to him as the DO upsetting. Gold just made this huge sacrifice and he’s still the DO to him?
According to Eddy, Rumple is really dead but trapped in the dagger (right?) So here we go: the dagger vanishes from SB, falls into Oz. Because it thinks Rumple is dead, his name is no longer on the dagger. The WW finds the dagger in Oz, picks it up and it “recognizes” that she is its new master. So now her name is on the dagger. But when she picks it up, Rumple is released from the dagger. The WW is the new Dark One, but Rumple still has his magic, but is no longer the Dark One. So we have a man, known for trickery, who falls into Oz, and who maybe has magical abilities. I don’t want Rumple to be the Wizard but that sounds very Wizard like to me. The question though is: if he has his magic, but is not the Dark One, why did he not try to get home sooner.
Eddy never said Gold was trapped in the dagger…..He says so many things that make NO sense that I basically ignore much of what he says.
What confuses me about Belle is that this can’t be the first time she’s seen Gold; how does she know based on what we saw in those photos that he’s being controlled? Maybe she tried to run to him and he wasn’t allowed to……or he told her to stop. I can’t imagine that if he IS controlled that it’s 24/7……. probably only when WW needs him, which would be like now. I mean, is he going to be allowed to live in his house? With Belle? Is he going to be forced to live with her?

I *get* that everyone is pretty upset by this. But we’re going to be upset no matter who it is. Also, I don’t get the whole “SF fans = Neal fan” and “CS fans= Hook fans” I ship SF. I think everyone here knows that, yes? But guess what? I *like* Hook. I do not wish him ill. Do I have the same feelings as say Hookers or CSers? No. But I like him on our show and don’t want him to go anywhere. And I can assure you, I’ve seen plenty of posts in our CS thread about how they don’t want Neal to die. Do they feel the same way about his role in the show as the SF fans? No. But they don’t wish him ill either. The fights breaking out are not “I wish X dead!” It’s “This is my interpretation of the story and show how I think it should play out based on my preconcieved notions of what the story as been so far.” Also, I don’t think ANYONE should be sending ANYTHING to Adam. We cannot lodge a formal protest about this. It’s done. It’s planned and probably written. The actor in question has gotten out of their contract, they’re leaving. Nothing we can do but offer SYMPATHY to each other when it happens. And honestly, Lisa, I haven’t seen ONE post about “I hope it’ s Neal!” or “I hope it’s Hook!” All I’ve seen is, “this sucks.”
I agree with all this.
I hate Hook for many reasons, but I’m not actively wishing he were dead. Well actually since he, Neal and Belle are the only ones who I can see dying, he’s the one I’d “root” for, but I wouldn’t have spent any time wishing him death.
The best way to protest how you feel about a show is to quit watching. I did that with LOST when I grew too angry to watch (I hated how they treated Claire/Emilie)…… I just walked away. What good does it do tweeting Adam because, as you said, he and Eddy are going to write what they want to write (and it’s been done anyway)? If you want to make a point that you feel strongly about, don’t watch….
Eddy says so many stupid and silly things that I don’t pay any attention…. I find it hard to believe, no impossible, that Gold could make that huge sacrifice and his “reward” for that would be losing his humanity. I’m sure Eddy called him the Dark One one just to make a point about how anything is possible with him (like shorthand, like he did before in one other instance which I shall not name because I don’t want to get into that, lol)

No, but she’d still do it if she chose to leave in order to keep up appearances. Actors who work sporadically on ONCE go to the cons all the time–Eion, Keegen, Anders, Sarah Bolger, ect I wouldn’t put much stock into anyone’s schedule or “where are they now” because we’ll go nuts.
I don’t think she’d confirm it…..why bother? I mean, we already know she was going. Also, those actors you referenced are all recurring, they’re not regulars. I think if I were being fired (I don’t believe this big death is related to an unhappy actor), I would not be promoting the show or even going out of my way to appear as if I were promoting it. Even if she were leaving, Em wouldn’t have to say a word; if she never said a word, fans would still know she was making that appearance. There’d be no need to confirm.
I guess it could still be Belle, but Em did talk in that TV Guide interview with Bobby as if she was sticking around….and while I think that it’s always possible she’s gotten tired of not working, I’d have to ask why she’d choose to leave now and certainly why Adam/Eddy would make it a permanent thing? I mean, if she wanted to leave to find work, you’d think that they’d leave Belle’s return open in case Em wanted to come back. I haven’t in the past hought that her relationship with Bobby would be enough to keep her, but they do appear to be very close and she adores working with him. I just don’t think she’s leaving on her own.
I guess all we fans can do is hope that our favorites don’t get the axe. I can’t imagine they’d kill Belle off………sigh.
