ParticipantFrankly I’m glad the show is ending for the sake of my own sanity because I’ve been stuck for quite some time in a love/hate kind of cycle with Once, but I just could never quite quit the show because I loved so many of the characters so deeply and now I feel …free. If that makes sense.
Thank you to Once for all those great characters I love so well. No matter how it ended, you really effected me deeply in those early seasons and I do thank you for that.
And an another big thank you is due to Once Podcast and all of its hosts for being there for all of us through every magical hand wave and squid ink debacle that Once proper ever put us through. You guys made the last four seasons tolerable because you felt my pain when the show did things that didn’t make sense. Thank you to Daniel, Jeremy, Erin, Jacquelyn and Hunter for all the hard work and love you poured into the podcast and by extension into all of us.

ParticipantI have to agree that the writers don’t understand at all. They needed to get rid of Emma because JM wanted to leave, but in order for the story to make sense they had to have a reason that made sense and just putting a bun in her oven doesn’t work. For one thing it’s only 9 months give or take a few more that this could even reasonably be used as an excuse and even with this wonky impossible timeline I don’t see how Emma is still pregnant during any of the HH story because given Henry’s age she should be in her 50’s by now and the new hook baby should be at least older than Lucy…right?
Come on the Emma we knew would absolutely have been there for Henry if she possibly could.

ParticipantI also thought it was wish Rumple at first. I’d guess that he gave up something to free Alice from the tower and that something made him golden again. Again some dialogue to clear up the matter would’ve been nice. I do like that Rumple and Alice are close.

ParticipantI finally understand what many of you felt after Quiet Minds. A blatant lack of care from the people at the top, and a tearing away of what you loved about the show. I had faith in Adam and Eddy. And, unfortunately, this episode has dashed that. This is my least favourite episode of Once to date.
I try to stay as positive as I can about the show, but I have to agree that the writers have basically destroyed the show and I do think the real destruction began way back in Quiet Minds when they killed off Baelfire. It’s certainly had it good moments since then, but the overall story is just a big mess of dropped plot lines, confusing timelines and flip floppy characters.
As for this particular episode I agree with the general consensus that it was jumbled, rushed and confusing. Does Zelena have her magic back? When did that happen? Why is Rumple golden? I love imp Rumple (he’s actually my very favorite Rumple) but some reason for it would’ve been nice.

ParticipantI really enjoyed the menace factor of the eight witches, but I was disappointed when it was revealed that all the cloaks were empty.
It reminded me of when the Dark Ones came to Storybrooke and we only got to see Nimue. Just a lot of excitement leading to a bit of a letdown.

ParticipantMixed feelings for this one. I liked most of the HH stuff, but I didn’t exactly love the Rapunzel backstory.
Rapunzel/Victoria – I do not understand why she only loved Anastasia. This was really not explained sufficiently and that sucks because it’s clearly key to the plot that Victoria doesn’t love Drizella so the reason should be made clear.
The husband – was awful! I can understand why a man with two young daughters and a missing wife might remarry. What I don’t understand it why when his 1st wife comes back he tells her he still loves her and then gives her her old coat a new job as his new wife’s…maid? He lets her daughters visit her but not live with her? Personally I’d have been more inclined to put the mushroom stuff in his drink instead of wife #2’s.
That reused mushroom prop – what did this do to wifey #2 exactly? Did it shrink her and then hubby chased her to Wonderland where she…died?
In HH we get the long awaited awakening of Anastasia…at the cost of Lucy’s life? I’m assuming not. More likely she’s now in a state similar to the one Anastasia was just in and someone will eventually save her, possibly by willingly taking her place or perhaps …by dying and going to heaven to reunite with their late wife and son? I was perfectly fine with that story because it makes sense, Rapunzel wants to save her daughter and she has no blood ties to Lucy and also no doubt a great resentment in her heart against Ella. It all fits and makes villainous sense.
I loved that Rumple is essentially recreating his pawn shop in a police evidence locker. The idea however that Rogers could break into a protected room just by pulling the fire alarms seemed silly. It does seem like Rumple is trying to wake people up but in his own subtle way. Though why he thought getting Tiana to hold his dagger would wake her up is a puzzle.
The scene between Rumple and Mother Goethal (sp?) was electric. Those two play off each other very well. If we could just get Alice in there too then we’d probably have the best scene in season seven. It sure seems like they’ve have more of a history then we’ve seen.
At last we get a few tidbits about The Guardian. #1 that Mother Goth is looking for him/her too. #2 that The Guardian is pure of heart and basically immune to temptation? That sounds more like Henry to me than Alice.

ParticipantMost likely Nick is simply season seven’s version of Katheryn. But I kind of like the idea that he’s Lucy’s real father and Ella’s real true love… basically I think I’m trying to push Ella out of the story in my head.
There’s no way they’re going to do that. The show obviously views Henry and Ella as some kind of epic romance that no giantkiller could possibly break up. I mean their necklaces glowed! They’re obviously meant for one another. LOL

ParticipantThey certainly left themselves a lot of room to write other characters into Ella’s family tree that for sure. At this point I have no idea who is who’s daughter/father/mother/step-whatever in this particular family. It’s all a mess and if the writers can actually write their way into making this family tree interesting I’ll applaud them.

ParticipantLIKED
The conversation between Rumple and Regina. We know they’re both awake, but Rumple is playing dumb with Regina…but why? Is she right about his reason having something to do with ‘The Guardian’? Could they please just explain this all a little more because I don’t understand. Yet I still enjoyed the scene. Maybe it’s just nice to see Rumple and Regina together without all these Wish Realm people around.
Wonderland looked cool. Though I agree that there was far too little Alice.
MURKY
Why are they still hiding Anastasia’s face from us? Is she the real (Wish Realm version?) Rapunzel maybe? Did Gothel kidnap her, lock her in a tower and change her name to Rapunzel? Then later she escapes and traps Gothel in her place, but then Hook lets Gothel out and she returns to kill Rapunzel/Anastasia? It’s just a weird thing to me that we’ve never seen her face.
Jack in our Enchanted Forest was a bad woman who ends up being killed by Charming’s evil twin…will this Jack be a bad guy too? Or is he this love triangle’s Katheryn? “Nobody wants to be the Katheryn” LOL
So the reason Regina can’t break the curse is this ‘poison heart’ curse? But didn’t WishHook get zapped with the curse when he hugged his *grits teeth* daughter, Alice? So if WishHook is still alive…what’s the problem? Regina must’ve cured Wish Hook somehow so why can’t she do the same for Henry after he breaks Drizella’s curse?
Disliked
Everything with Jacinda. The plot about her and Lucy and Belfry is a tangled mess and a boring one at that.

ParticipantI think the idea of Hook staying and raising the baby is ridiculous. He would never do that. He sold Bae to Pan. He killed his father and abandoned his brother. There is no i am going to take care of this helpless infant in Hook’s character.
I think they were assigning character development that our Hook sort of had and giving it to WishHook, who as far as we know, was still the same as our Hook circa season two. Would that Hook have taken care of a baby even if it was his baby (albeit via magical means)? I don’t know. Maybe he would’ve gotten some help. Maybe he would’ve sent Smee up the tower to raise the kid while he sailed off for a cure (and his revenge still)? I agree that seeing him just give up his ship and play nursemaid doesn’t fit that era of Hook based on what we know about him.
LIKED
Seeing Victoria get arrested. Even though it was part of Ivy’s evil plot I still enjoyed that scene.
MURKY
So are Cinderella, Drizella and Lady Tremaine all from the Wish Realm too? In this episode we see WishHook meet up with WishRegina to plot their revenges on WishRumple and The WishCharmings (all of it thirtyish years before we think Wish Realm was even created which still bugs me too) and all that stuff with the Tower and Gothel seemed to be happening in the same realm that they were already in… so is everyone from season seven a Wish Realmer except for our Rumple and our Regina?! Or am I just hopelessly confused?
DISLIKED
Hook and Not-Rapunzel making a magically aged baby in the tower. Eeeeeeeeeeeew. No wonder Alice is…disturbed.Again I’m disappointed that such an excellently written and acted character is not related to the Stiltskin clan. Seriously which family reunion do you think Alice would fit in at – The Jones Reunion or The Stiltskin Reunion?
