Bo-PeepsParticipant
Have a coconut & Hookie cookie
Ooo thanks muchly! I am fast becoming addicted to Hookie Cookies, and Coconut oil is great for my (fluffs it) hair. (heh)
though A&E’s answer was awkward and really, they should have been prepared for it, when it comes down to it I don’t think they’re attempting to ‘retcon’ anything and for me, their answer changes nothing about the story they’ve been telling since Day 1.
Yup yup yup yup yup Jenna. Just another piqayune thing that will be held against them by some to pass the time before they can be piqayune about something else!!
It makes the show more worldly
Yeah, it does. Along with all the cartoonish characters and now, the spector of Frozen animation coming to real life looming ahead of them for Season 4, they still maintain an adult level of angst and emotional torture/love/souls/trauma/darkness that can appeal to the more drama-mature members of the fandom.

Bo-PeepsParticipantDoubling back…the True Love/ Soul Mate question.
Rushed answer to a question they were not prepared to handle in the atmosphere of a convention panel. Your answer(s) would have been far better!
Instead of analyzing the clumsy reply given, I’m more inclined to shake my head at A&E and stick with my own interpretation:
Regarding feelings between people True Love involves deeply romantic, ultimately tactile and sexual connections. Soul Mates involve all human connections, spiritual particularly. In my view you can be both True Love and Soul Mate to one person. But you can be a Soul Mate to a person without necessarily being their True Love.
Both are immensely powerful.
Which one is superior is not a definitive subject.

Bo-PeepsParticipantSince you brought it up Epona and all that staff twirling made me kind of physically exhausted (grin) I am going to go mental for a moment. Heh.
In all seriousness, Neal was toxic to Emma’s life and did hideous damage to her already damaged psyche.
He was more than mildly narcissist in his short relationship with Emma as a teen and as an adult woman.
Also, here was a teenaged girl living a life on the edge of the law and he taught her how to cross over that edge further into criminal behavior. Was that mindful of what was good for her? No. Young lust is young lust, sure. But he was also quick to suggest that HE go to Canada and leave her alone when things got rough. And if all the comments about “rape culture” are to be looked at as more than just a hideously fabricated excuse to attempt a character assassination of Hook and his fans, let’s address the fact that Emma was underage when, knowing this, adult Neal had sex with (and impregnated her). That is Statutory rape. Fair law or not, it is. No speculation involved.
Neal “did the right thing” in allowing her to take the rap for him? Twisted Romantic Rationalization aside, it was an ignoble act of cowardice. BAD FORM in the context of true love. It is mostly Neal’s character to run away. A convenient excuse to enable his inability to face life after Bae.
Oh…but he left her the car and some cash for when she got out of incarceration. Swell.
A decade later after he has moved on but is forcefully re-attached to her life, he mocks her “powers” and accuses her of being jealous of Tamara. He’s willing to embrace Henry, and claim newly realized fatherly rights but frankly, he acts like a schmuck to Emma. Now that the curse was broken and there was no interference problems from him, he still didn’t treat her as his true love. It still was all about Neal.
Pah. Obnoxious and toxic to Emma.
Neverland? All about saving Henry, which finally gave him a noble purpose other than saving himself and we could cheer him on at last… and…then…oh no…backslide, yeah, “I will always fight for you, Emma” delivered with as much enthusiasm and sincerity of a slug. When had he ever fought for her?? He hadn’t. But now that Tamara had vaporized, well, there was always the mother of his child who was plagued with abandonment issues to attempt to ingratiate himself to…And golly gee when they got back to Storybrooke why not ask her to have a hamburger at Grannie’s place?
His raising the dark one act is labeled heroic. But it was a selfish “no matter the cost” act with little thought or concern for the countless lives it could damage. He paid the ultimate price for it, saved temporarily by the deep love of his father who he had spent his lifetime vilifying.(And to be fair, not without reason!)
Ah, but when he actually DID do something heroic in sending the potion with the dove, who did he send it to?
Yeah, the man he knew would get the job done no matter the risk, no matter the obstacles, no matter what it cost, personally.
Yeah. The man who truly loved Emma and would take on the world and risk his life to bring her back.
……
On another note, that interview will Jennifer is more than intriguing!
I love this show 🙂

Bo-PeepsParticipantsurayya! If I am bear approved, then that has made my day 🙂 (where do you find those great gifs? That one really made me laugh out loud!)
Hook may not always have been a pirate, but he has always been a man of the sea and he has always lived by a CODE. Honor among thieves and all that. His struggle has been losing the pain, the anger and regaining the hope. He isn’t quite there, which is as it should be. His love for Emma is strong and determined, but you can see the depth of emotions(and temperament) he still can feel.
And love has always been an important part of his soul or losing Milah wouldn’t have made such a huge impact of his life. He may exchange the coat for something more modern in Storybrooke but he MUST MUST still do something that attaches him to the sea. He may regain his hand, but he can still, when needed, swing a potent sword and be heroic to the max. I’m good with whatever they chose to do with his hook/clothes as long as they still keep him connected to his seafaring soul.

Bo-PeepsParticipantThe Dullard or the Dashing Rapscallion?? There is NO comparison necessary @ellemo (neener-neener grin).
(Bo Peep dances around the message board twirling her staff like a majorette and doing a rapscallion worshipping jig) He had us , me HEARTies (and Emma) at “Yo Ho”

Bo-PeepsParticipantI hear you Jenna. As far as I have seen, you have given it more than a fair chance. But there isn’t much you can do about facing self-serving/wallowing, brick-wall mentality. Neal is dead, still, as a…bag of hair. He was not Emma’s choice of partner. And this is still Adam’s and Eddie’s story to tell however they want. And if the Bastion of the St. Neal Obsessed can’t yet maturely comprehend those simple facts, it shouldn’t affect your joy.
surayya, you don’t need an army of supports, you are a CS force standing alone no matter where you post! I love all your fru fru visual stuff (grin)
Moving on to deal with the living and loving CS home front…I wouldn’t mind Hook regaining his hand Is HE the blackmailer of Rumple’s secret??? *I’ll keep quiet MATE, if you give me back what you took from me* Hmmm, wouldn’t expect it but it would be an interesting twist and fair enough closure to the Crocodile maiming him in the first place. I just wouldn’t want the Hook sass and arrogance and rapscallion *scoundrel* to disappear with the reappearance of his hand. I am mighty fond of his rap and *scallions* (grin)
Those Two Lies and a Truth were pretty cute since Colin, in his sincerity kind of screwed it up!! Heh, He is such a darling dweeber. I have always thought of Colin as the sweet, much younger, rather less sultry, goodie goodie-by-comparison, kid brother of ohhh.-so.-smoldering Hook!!! Amazing what a superior costume can do for a guy (wink)

Bo-PeepsParticipantThanks for all the wonderful gifs and links! Tons of smiles and anticipation for coming adventures 🙂
Conventions always are great fun because you get to see the real people behind the characters and how they interact. It can be quite magical for genuine fans and performers to be together. A celebration of the positive. A real upbeat kick in the butt for everyone! Rewarding for all. Even the diehard marketers from the networks/parent companies can give in to a bit of the magic!
It is refreshing to watch the actors and creators input about their work away from the verbose, relentless and often purposeful morale destroying whining of social media inhabitants.
Fictional entertainment while it can and should be thought provoking at times, provides an escape from reality and bottom line should provide an exciting level of joy to fans. Conventions magnify that to the nth degree.
If people can’t find joy in it, and continue to hang around, they can only blame themselves for any wallowing misery they continually create surrounding themselves.
@surayya~I read something very similar to that and agree with you that parts of that parallel could be incredibly interesting! Especially the part of her unknown magic that could have caused some damage as a child. That all may be deeper hidden than even Emma knows. (It would also take a step towards the Frozen arc being much more cerebral/adult and tied into our established characters and not just a marketing nod to the more childlike animation of “continuing Disney”)Between Emma and Hook we are dealing with some extraordinary emotional baggage! That is why the possible heart and soul outcome of their relationship could be so intensely rewarding. We have already seen how deeply Hook feels things behind his smoldering “rapscallion” persona…and Emma’s walls of stoic cynicism and fear have been very well presented. The possibilities of them realizing a sensational life connection are truly the stuff of the “thinking woman’s” dream come true.
(and it would be immensely poetic fun to see Emma fight FOR Hook)
@Jenna~ Unless the writers want to take a step backward to revisit the missing Bae/Hook/ Pan/Tink/Darlings/ Neverland years for EVERYONE the entire Hook/Neal connection should remain a done deal. I truly don’t think Hook needs to struggle with Neal’s death because his connection was with the teenaged boy, not the man Bae became. They made their peace before Neal died. Neal’s death was Neal’s doing, and had nothing to do with Hook.
Amid all the complaining over- statement that Hook evilly and maliciously betrayed Bae to Pan, it is ignored that Bae chose to leave Hook. Bae basically and passionately threw everything back in Hook’s face about Hook’s heartfelt offer to fight for him and create a home for him. That had to wound Hook rather deeply as well, even though he reacted in defensive anger at the time. Hurt is hurt on both sides. He may have felt guilt, but Bae did survive, as did he.
The only way to stay progressive about anything dredging up Neal again would be to attach it to a Henry/Hook storyline with Hook helping him know his father and that would only involve young Bae because he is the only part of that character that Hook knew well.
Alive or dead, there are pages of every characters’s story that will be left blank because of the sheer amount of stories there are to tell. Some questions will always be left unanswered in the time frame alloted the storytellers. Besides any “Young Cora-like” flashback, Neal’s story has pretty much been told for all intents and purposes.

Bo-PeepsParticipantDueling Daddies (grin)
pretty cute stuff!
I’m glad there will be some personal character exploration for Emma and Hook. He gave up a lot for her and once she addresses her own internal demons which apparently will be paralleled with Elsa’s internal struggles she will need to address just exactly the depth of what Killian has sacrificed. He earned adoration!! I hope there will be enough lighter touches to keep the relationship avoiding a backslide into angst and emotional gloom. And Hook still deserves a ship! Heh. STorybrooke IS a port.
ONCE needs an adventurous duo to dashingly quest on now that Snowing may be somewhat domesticated. And unless Marion isn’t who she appears to be (!), the Hood Saga and Rumbelle’s newly wedded woes will cover the soap opera drama quite well.
***Always in search of a good flock***
Bo-PeepsParticipantThey will continue to build the affections while tearing down both sets of walls. And we will all get the great moments to take to heart from day one.
(And new duds for our leather lad)
The coolest thing about all these interviews and seating placements is that they are together. And as fun as these are these conventions are first and foremost prime marketing weekends, so they are only heavily promoting those things that are selling the show, big-time!
Our Captain and our Swan are a mega draw -and everyone knows it 🙂
***Always in search of a good flock***
Bo-PeepsParticipantThe clips are quite enjoyable! The visuals, totally delightful. It’s always great to see the actors intermingle as people :)…and friends. They all looked great. I’m glad to see Young Mr. Gilmore included! Comic cons at their heart speak to our youthful fantasy loving nature.
Not much angst and drama and that was actually refreshing considering how hard certain factions of the fandom stay determined to be sulking, graceless bullies. I’m all behind free speech , just sick to spitting death of immature killjoy punks.
Other than some massive grin inducing, ‘awwwww’ inspiring moments for our ‘it’s complicated’ lovers, it was a cool little marketing tool to keep us all entertained for the real fantasy to begin in earnest this fall!
Totally fun 🙂
