Bo-PeepsParticipant
I am actually enjoying the rants, today (grin) They come from a place of strength and not defense.
If the St. Neal brigade (and any SQ belligerents) can’t handle the “fictional” truth, the Captain-Swanners aren’t responsible for being apologetic about their own love story and enabling the acceptance of the braindead hate. I spent twenty wasted minutes on Tumblr reading through some thread- linked hateful blog comments and the shallow, ignorant mindset of some hideously immature viewers of Once. They aren’t original in their wallowing spew. They are predictable. They are infected, but not infectious. Our joy should never be based in any way on their wretchedness.
Nutshell time:
Neal is dead. And gone. And over. And it served A&E’s story. They paid sincere tribute to him on the show, which was whiningly rejected. A&E needn’t say one more word because their words aren’t respected by that same denial brigade. But more importantly as pointed out above :), it has been said enough. Ad nauseam. No, the. Once. world. isn’t. about. Neal.
It also isn’t about Regina and Emma as a romantic couple. They aren’t gay. Fans can joyfully and creatively fuel the romance in erotic fan fic to their engaging hearts content. And more power to them. But as written by the creators of the show, Regina and Emma are a strong female couple… of Moms, for Henry. Trying to bully and threaten other characters/actors/writers about it is seriously damaging SQ fans’ stance.
Henry adores Hook and vice versa. They make a great duo.
Yup! Agree. Hook and Emma will continue to be a head butting, passionate couple who indeed, are their own biggest obstacle. It has never truly been about anyone else around them since the first day they set eyes on each other. It has always been about battling each other’s hearts, fears, stubbornness, internal walls.
Be Happy in Hookdom, Swanners!!!!

Bo-PeepsParticipantJenna~embrace the pretties (thanks by the way), spread the joy, celebrate the love… and the leather.
Our guy is beautifully alive. Our couple is, after personal struggles and patience, wonderfully affectionate, and coming back to us with long awaited love and devotion… and we have reasons to smile and hug all the positives.
And the others? They do not matter, they do not count, they do not deserve one minute of our time 🙂
As great as they are, CaptainSwan doesn’t need a lot of parallels, they create the bar for comparison 🙂

Bo-PeepsParticipantSafe journeys Epona!!
Covering a few things:
You know, now that you brought it up, Jenna, the way certain fans have abused Jennifer Morrison is just more proof of how out of touch with reality they are about this St. Neal (and Swan Queen) obsession. They are oblivious to feeling shame. Go ahead, be joyous and adore Michael Raymond James, follow his career and applaud his future projects. just be mature about the Once FACT that Neal was not Emma’s match. Hook to Emma, now, as a new, accepted lover, had nothing to do with the failings of Neal in Emma’s eyes. Neal did that all on his own and it was already a decision of Emma’s heart to distrust and reject him before she ever set eyes on Hook. By all means, love Regina (I know I do) but in all honestly, the only couple Regina and Emma will be is the couple of strong and devoted women Henry knows as Mom. Celebrate what IS.
Talk on Jen! There is so much to love about Captain Swan already, here’s hoping we have dozens more great little moments to discuss in the coming season as their relationship is developed. It will be tough, still.
And yes, ellemo, you speak for me as well about Belle! I’ll say it once then not say it again. Belle is in eternal denial about and a blindly shallow enabler of Rumple. He’s a freaking nasty man who has done unfathomably murderous things. But his *true haaaaaht* excuses all??? Nah. But I wish them lots of luck.
For as nasty as Hook as behaved, and he has been nasty, he has also been clubbed in the back of the head, threatened with guns and knives, had hands plunged into his chest, knocked loopy with a compass, clocked in the face with moving beams…all by women, not to mentioned knocked over rocky cliffs to be torn to shreds by a deformed Malificent… This isn’t just one sided violence (grin)

July 9, 2014 at 5:56 pm in reply to: TVGuide: Giancarlo Esposito (Magic Mirror/Sydney) Returning #276758Bo-PeepsParticipantThis is good, fun news. I’d love to see him stick around for awhile! His presence added class to every episode in which he appeared.

Bo-PeepsParticipant(Back “in the day”, Mary Sue was also used to describe a character put into fanfic that very closely resembled the author of the fanfic, encompassed their personal fantasies/dreams with the character involved and was decidedly, preciously perfect. (grin) I think it started with Star Trek of all things. It was not a complimentary term in any way)
When it comes to Belle, I am decidedly biased. The actress’ voice and facial expressions grate on my nerves and I think her character does and says way too many dorky, dense things in comparison with the animated Belle, who is a favorite of mine. I love Rumple’s wickedness and Gold’s quiet, very self assured darkness. It is a testament of Carlyle’s acting abilities that he appears to fit with Belle at all. She always “believes” in him but does he believe in her? Considering his easy lies, his respect for her is questionable. That may change (as in character arc) for her in season 4. We’ll see.
Hook has to take personal accountability for his past uglier actions with anyone, and he seems quite able to do that. He didn’t punch himself out in the finale just because he was drunkenly enjoying a wench. It was personal (pun intended)
In regards to Hook Haters. Pfffft. He doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone who has depth! Their opinions just don’t matter. The most verbal are desperate to make others hate all things Hook (and Emma and Jennifer and A&E) for trumped up, outrageously ugly projection and mouth-twisting sour grape reasons. The majority of what I have seen or read comes from whining killjoys whose personal (dare I say Mary Sue?) fantasies have been dashed because Neal is dead and Hook isn’t…or they have had a lousy experience in life and they project their anger onto Hook.
Hook was never Neal and thank-you for that, A&E. They both play(ed) specific roles in the life of Emma Swan. They both had substantial personalities for very different reasons.
Fans are entitled to embrace the characters they love, but without shredding some other character or attempting to make other fans feel like scum because they love someone else. Otherwise, they just look hateful and decidedly immature.
And enabling those haters is just feeding their hunger for bitter spew.

Bo-PeepsParticipantAhhh, still love the Nose Boop!
thank you for all the lovelies!! Charming visuals are always a good way to start a day. Soon we may have some more little visual teases.
Here’s hoping we can all enjoy the fresh dramas and unfolding new tales without the residual whining from last season. Onward and upward for our passionate duo!

Bo-PeepsParticipantI believe Emma’s magic comes from a fiercely protective soul. She will unapologetically use it to protect and vehemently defend, not strike out in open aggression. Forceful, yet more goodly pure.
Hers is a whole ‘nother place and core of immense power…and one that is rightfully respected by those who practice magic for cruelty and darkness.
It’s a great and potent balance for the existence of magic in the show

July 6, 2014 at 6:35 pm in reply to: Zelena Mills/The Wicked Witch of the West Character Analysis #276325Bo-PeepsParticipantZelena was a chaotic mess of a character. Granted, she had some of the funniest lines of the season and her control of the dagger made her very bold, but really, for me she was the ultimate scenery chewer and overacted everything, getting way too much in the face of other characters. Loose cannon rolling all over the deck.
Whiney? Yeah. Even with her blatant evil and intelligence, she resorted to crazed, *poor, poor me* crap at the weirdest times. From my viewing seat, the flashbacks did nothing to create genuine sympathy for her, either.
Unhinged? Totally. She was a completely deranged whacko. And it rather killed the possibilities of a good Oz connection. She has too much of an immature, tantrum throwing nut ball to be a serious dark threat.
Too rushed, as many of you have said. Not enough time to absorb much of anything before she was off on her next lunatic action. You couldn’t even pinpoint her *I hate my sister* motivation, since she seemed to have plenty of power already when she showed up. It was as if the writer’s pot of coffee while plotting things out was laced with Speed.
Redeemable? I didn’t care. I was just glad Rumple deteriorated her. I wanted her to die! It didn’t come soon enough to save some of the more interesting characters.
Sadly, Oz was misused and even abused. As deviously cool as the flying monkeys visuals were, plot wise, they were quite flat and ill-defined in the entire story line. The whole Walsh deal…just weird. The end result of being a flying monkey was…what? For all the hype of Wicked vs Evil, all Oz did was basically set up the *No Place Like Home* parallel for Dorothy/Emma in the finale (which played out like it’s own min-mini season within a season.) Reading fans creative versions and ideas of what could happen concerning Oz was more entertaining several times than what showed up on the screen.
Way too many different agendas playing out poorly in the writer’s room. Still entertaining just because of the magical love everyone has for Oz, and our continuing love for the major players… but falling short in the realized potential.
What COULD be said about Zelena? Her biting and pointed snark, when not accompanied by chewed scenery dripping from her mouth, was PRIME. The flying monkeys were menacing, very dorky hats and flashy costumes were worn and it gave Carlyle a chance to act delightfully insane. Oh, and Hook trussed up in a trunk having a rose dragged across his mouth was…pleasantly entertaining. (heh)

Bo-PeepsParticipantI second your hope :), Jenna!
Hook and Emma have always had great little comic moments among the more emotionally sensational ones. That is what a great couple does (la la la) laugh, cry, butt heads, kick butts, protect, defend, comfort, tease… and smooch very well.
A&E’s saving grace has always been their moments of brilliant wit.
Elsa is going to be intriguing, if nothing else. They keep saying she is misunderstood, but, she took the gloves off!…someone is going to have to be given the deep freeze somewhere along the line! And think of all the snow machines they will need in summertime Vancouver (grin)
***Always in search of a good flock***
Bo-PeepsParticipantThanks for the explanation, Jenna. 🙂 Jennifer was absolutely right in her original statement. And you were right in your comments about it!
I.E. Emma *shunning* Hook:
Hallelujah! I think this is my favorite quote from the OZ CC yet. Well, either that or the playground one…how totally true! haha. But seriously, I don’t understand how people didn’t see this. Have they never been in a relationship where they were scared out of their minds and pushed the other person away?
Being exactly that kind of head case when it comes to the relationships that threaten my control freak, vulnerability tendencies of the heart, I TOTALLY empathize with our stoic Emma-gal. It was perfectly clear (grin). I guess there has to be a portion of the human race who are blind to that way of love…yin yang, balance, peace, love, dopey hope, eternal cosmic wisdom and all that lovely karmic stuff, yeah yeah yeah…but they DO seem to miss the obvious point, don’t they (wink)?
Letting someone in is much riskier/harder than holding them out. That kind of potential soul power is very frightening.
It was also why I got so frustrated and wanted someone to kick Emma’s wall clinging butt to the EF and back ! I also know that when you finally accept and willingly embrace that power, the rewards are …oh…so…grand !!
