Bo-PeepsParticipant
Morning fellow funsters!
Yo ho’s all around.
The “Nose Boop” solidified my affection for these two!
Hook, no matter what they do with his clothes, needs a dynamic look and a great jacket/coat with turned up collars. He is ruggedly “clothes-dramatic” and has to live up to his scruff!! His coloring begs for stark colors. He is a slighter fellow and the layered/bulkier stuff ads a bit of heft(grin). Blacks and whites, dark blues and true reds. The dark chocolate brown with white shirt worked for me as well :p
But his hook IS problematic.Longer sleeves a must, which in his case leads to open buttons, too! Should be a very interesting task for the costume designer.
But they gotta keep the guyliner (ha!)
I avoid posting in the character threads now. Sincere discussions by some are turned into agenda driven, histrionic soap box platforms by others. As with any fandom message board, some contributors aren’t actually participating, they just want to be argumentative and perpetually pissy.
hiatus times are always tough
It’s much more fun to accentuate the positive and rev up the sense of wit, wonder and humor.

Bo-PeepsParticipantIt’s Hook that my literary and eye-candy heart craves (grin).
It does, however give a great walking, (Irish accent) talking testament to just how GOOD Colin is in crafting his *art*.
The long leather coat doesn’t hurt, either.

Bo-PeepsParticipantLaughing more now that I see the newest addition of “Real Husbands”!!!
Prime talent 🙂
There should be some award created for that level of fan appreciation (grin)
Thanks, Lola 😀

Bo-PeepsParticipantWaves to Jenna 🙂
Yeah, when a lot of people hide behind the the Internet Cloak of Anonimity they lose a portion of their humanity.
Frankly, I think the one’s who practice that particular art of zero accountability get off on the pain and harm they cause. Gives them a very immature sense of power but really proves nothing but their cowardice.
And on the shallower level of immature (laughing at myself) I saw some pictures of sweet Colin from Dust Storm and thought he looked like the younger nerdish brother of Hook who has trouble getting serious dates because his older brother is so totally cool! Ha!
Bring back the scruff, Babycakes! It makes me much more comfortable about my decidedly non-maternal leanings towards the Captain.
La la laaaa!
I miss our Scruff Muffin

Bo-PeepsParticipantSince I mostly watch Once for the pure entertainment and escapism value, I try to avoid “too deep” evaluations. Plot holes don’t impact me as much as some other message board dwellers. (been there, done that, I am more laid back and taking it much easier now! I really don’t care if there are little voids of believability.)
From a TV lifetime of inevitable cancelations, character deaths, disappointments and lack of creative control(grin) I have developed an attitude of cautious emotional detachment even with characters of whom I am extremely fond.
They are not ‘mine’ to guide or control as the characters of my own writing/novels are. And as such I am at the mercy of other writers’ whims. Which is always risky to invest in emotionally.
Also, because of so many compelling stories to be told for so many ensemble characters, A&E have to rely a ton on the talent of the actors to say a hundred lines of dialog with one look. Fortunately their lead characters do that in aces. (case in point the blog you posted/linked, surayya we got volumes from a few *looks*) But it leaves a lot of storyline to be *surmised*. We surmise deep and intense things for Hook and Emma because their struggles and path to love speaks to us.
However, from a realist point of view, at one point, I didn’t care who Hook connected with as long as it was enough to keep him solidly employed on the show (heh). Emma was too stoic and too hard for my personal liking for one as deeply soulful as Hook. Many times, I have thought she didn’t deserve him! I am not even so sure she does now actually. She still hasn’t lived up to the devotion he shows her. She has things to prove. And I am one who usually camps her wagon behind the female characters.
I hope we will see a lot of forward progress of the fun, sassy-snark and sexier variety in S4 for Hook and Emma. So much potential there to take that coupling to adventurous places. Backsliding into sulky, brooding, stoic territory would not be entertaining anymore.
Let Regina handle the angst this season. She emotes beautifully. And they have created quite the dilemma for her!
I want to see Hook raise a lot of eyebrow and smile rapscallionishly (heh) through his twinkling, gorgeous, guyliner eyes and be boldly audacious in his newfound romance. And it would be realllly satisfying if Emma got her sexy back.

Bo-PeepsParticipantHaving spent three years with a Brit gent, I smiled at “a bit stroppy”.
Perfect.
Loving the videos, as usual. I am not much for “married, baby-on-board graphics” but the “I love you more” made me smile bigtime and text my kids with the same message 🙂
Many thanks!

Bo-PeepsParticipantI can’t disagree with you in theory, WR. Emma was naïve. She did meddle. Magic has a price for Emma. And so does years of hideous criminal behavior without accountability for Regina…even with her mostly redemptive arc. A&E have created quite the dilemma. Is there the same intensity of accountability for meddling to the good with fate??? Dunno.
I was pretty…cringe worthy heart sick with the new triangle angle. I really like Regina and Robin. The quickness of them connecting didn’t bother me a bit. At least SOMEBODY wasn’t plagued by angst! But Marion, well, that’s a classic true love/soul mate icon that I can’t see screwing with either. I have NO idea how A&E are going to get themselves out of this hole. None. Nada, and I am glad it is their problem! Heh. I’ll be a very interested observer this season.
Nothing has been totally sabotaged, yet. Just a massively complicated obstacle has been created(grin) Two wrongs (from Regina in the past and Emma in the present) will not make a right for Outlaw Queen. But it will make it verrrry difficult to be in Robin’s boots!!
Perhaps Elsa will be a Regina ally. Turn Hook into ice (ala Han Solo carbon freezing.) Heh. But maybe not since Hook was highly instrumental in freeing her. And we don’t know yet just how villainess Elsa will be. Besides Emma has magic now, too. She is a novice, but it is there and very powerful especially when someone she loves is threatened. Weaker magic is not Emma’s worst enemy, Emma’s conscience is Emma’s worst enemy. Tsk Tsk, it ain’t gonna be easy.
I still think her protective streak during a Regina semi-melt down will overcome any guilt she will feel.
In regard to the difference between soul mate and true love, in my mind, a soul mate might never actually be a love partner, but true love most assuredly is. I would tend to disagree with the deeper level as well, I think they are equally connected, just different styles of connectivity 🙂 Neither one of them is guaranteed a happy ending though.

Bo-PeepsParticipantThose videos are both so spot on!
I love the way Jennifer and Josh have created such a wonderful dynamic of actually seeming like Father and Daughter. No easy feat for people the same age!
And the evolution of Hook and Emma truly has been purposefully played out one line, one look at a time. One of the few things A&E took the time to make perfect.
Leny and surayya~thanks for bringing them to all of us 🙂

Bo-PeepsParticipantYo Ho Leny 🙂 welcome to the chaos!
surayyyyyya! You just brightened this traditionally downer Friday the 13th with that fabulous new “Fixer Upper” I am still smiling after watching it twice. Perfect find 😉
Your description of the vocal fringe fandom is spot on. Obsessive Denial, Projection, Histrionics, the least of it.
I’m not going to give them any validation. Those who persist in severe ugly behavior can ‘t be changed by Internet communication. They don’t want sincere input. They prefer wallowing.

Bo-PeepsParticipantOn another message board a poster mentioned the possibility of Henry traveling to EF. In a very slight and sassy breech of unwritten forum etiquette I am quoting myself and my reply to her, here:
“I really like the idea of Henry going to EF. It would be risky, but imminently fun for Jared and the viewers if they didn’t throw too thick a protective wall around him. He’s got the genes in him to be quite the adventurer. And it would be a hand held game of World of War Craft come to life for him Pretty heady stuff for a middle school kid!”
I hope the opportunity presents itself, and not in a situation where they have to rescue him, but where he can have fun participating in whatever *rescue* or curse breaking that might occur.
