Participant1. I come from an Internet world well before “shipping” labeling and will never consider myself a “shipper” because I am independent, stubborn and ornery to the core! (La la la) I will grudgingly embrace the label “Hooker” because I am a huge fan of witty wordplay. And I am easy when it comes to appreciating specific…um…talent …when I see it!
The chemistry and fate of Hook and Emma was firmly planted on the Beanstalk.
2. Much More complicated …
Interest in him? The beanstalk talk.
Holy Crap interest? The mouth tugging wound wrapping eye locking moment.
This dude has intestinal fortitude as well as oozing libido interest? When he drew the Giant’s attention and called him out.
Specific/Reluctant interest in him? Discovering Baelfire’s cave and the continuous “eye play”
Raw Lust-tinged interest? The first collar clutching, multi-angled “I’ll show YOU who is in control” lip lock.
But, but, it was just a kiss interest? Yeah sure, Emma. Practice “Denial ” much?
“I may be in a tad bit of trouble here” interest? The Cave of Echoes revelation.
Revealed “first chink in the wall” affection? Calling out his name during the Shadow attack.
WTF could I really be jealous interest? You..and Tink??? “Perhaps”
Love inkling? “Good”
Damnit I am too scared to love you interest? The “it shows you have a heart” confrontation in the woods.
“Over my dead body ( no, correction, YOUR dead body)” love? Try cursing someone’s lips I would want to kiss…son of a b*t*h come back to me, Killian! save him moment.
Frisky, this might not be a bad idea love? Loosening the bodice for rum-sotted Hook and deliciously ironic jealousy (“perhaps” with Tink?…well, perhaps with YOU) tease.
Oh, God, Killian, hold me, SAVE me my heart is breaking love? Watching Mom burn.
Yearning love? Wait, here I am hearing this supremely inappropriate and ridiculous new name for my brother scene and…where is my Killian , MY hero?
He has won my heart because I Want him Love? (Smile) “Aye”…
3. Easy. He had her at “Yo Ho”…”About bloody time!”
Happy Memorial Day for all loved ones for all reasons for all time!

ParticipantHi All,
Hope you all are enjoying the holiday weekend with something fun and peaceful!
Thanks for that quote/link callmeLola…it is always good to see people appreciate what we have felt all along!
Just a side comment during the hiatus when lifestyles, summer, realities take us away from the concentrated attention to OUAT…I find that other than the camaraderie of fellow Hooksters, Emmites, CaptainSwanners here, many times I enjoy the show so much more when it isn’t cluttered with the persistent hate and pettiness of so many Internet dwellers who want to do nothing but complain and suck the life out of everything when things don’t go as they envisioned, dreamed, hoped.
General viewers and non-Internet-addicted (grin) Oncers have very little problem with what is going on and can enjoy the show for exactly what it is…escapism entertainment with tons of imagination!…and a damn good looking cast (grin). The general consensus of those real life Oncers in my work force and public contact has been one of looking forward to the fall and the introduction of Elsa.
The biggest detriment to the show is not lapses of consistency in writing nor faulty plot lines or (fill in the blank with any words insinuating pandering) It is the pungent killjoy attitude of viewers and posters who can’t embrace anything but negativity no matter what. Nothing will be good enough for those types.
Colin’s Hook has grown immensely in character yet has (thanks to Colin’s talent) maintained his charm, appeal and passion along the way. He’s an original. I have gone through many stages of Captain Hook performances over the years, and each one has been quite unique. There is no one definition. Just more to enjoy.
And I for one WILL enjoy whatever new adventures other creative minds create for my entertainment 🙂
Yo Ho

ParticipantOK, THIS is what I love about the CS troops…we can have a seriously detailed plot conversation, meet in the shallow end with drinks (make mine Iced tea all the way from Longgg Island~grin) AND laugh our self-deprecating tushes off over some seriously twisted- clever and irreverant gifs…all on one page of the thread 🙂
Not a bad place to spend the hiatus, eh?

Participant“When you say “portrayed decently”, do you mean in terms of acting or writing?”
Both, frankly. One perhaps spawned the other.
(as always, just one woman’s opinions!)
A&E didn’t give Neal much character depth from day one, which is not MRJ’s fault. But even so, as charming as he was in appealing to teenaged Emma, I felt he mailed in his performances in Neverland and some of his delivery lines were mediocre at best. Perhaps he already knew the outcome for his character, but I just didn’t see the intensity. Morrison ached her heart out in the Echo Cave and his *I will never give up (sic)…” line afterward was flat , shallow and vividly out of place considering the acting going on around him in those scenes.
I’m not one who thought Neal should have died, and it was a bit of a copout… even though I think his story had become somewhat of a dead end. His highly interesting relationship with the Darlings was dropped like a lukewarm potato. Tamara was a JOKE, and a large part of the possibilities of intriguing Neverland back stories have apparently gone the way of the Dodo bird. Emma was never going to regain her starry eyed love for him even though she generously maintained that she loved him (first loves never die totally in ones heart), but she wished he were dead so as not to remind her of the hideous pain he caused her. Neal would have been a third wheel to Henry behind two very strong mothers and two stellar grandpas. One of which was the extremely charismatic Dark One. The writers hadn’t taken the time to flesh out Neal’s character, yes, but it really had no where to deepen on its own. His departure was given what everyone calls heroic sacrifice, and even though it was *damn the consequences* self-serving, it is acceptable to view him as heroic, because of the feelings we (and Rumple!) all had for Bae…the brave, passionate little boy.
In regards to being out of character with Roland. I didn’t think he was. It fit in well with the rather impetuous adult who we had seen already AND who we would see in his death episode. And he was likeable throughout the whole thing. Hard to dislike, but just…not a super substantial guy. Kind of *beige*
He and Emilie suffered from lack of screen minutes but writers tend to go with the actors who can fill that small screen with big moments.
Hook, even when being a bit of a prick, did everything with a deep level of brooding passion or sincere rapscallion sass. Like him or not, he made/makes his scenes come alive with emotion. He CAUSED/causes attention and emotions on a very high level. That is TV GOLD.
When Hook remained quiet in the face of Emma’s snarkish stoicism, well, that was obviously his choice! It was the long haul he talked about. It was not at all attractive of Emma and made some of us what to kick her in the butt, but Hook was the one taking that attitude. He could have walked if it bothered him that much. He chose to take it. He felt the payoff was worth it. 🙂
Hopefully, yeah, he and Emma can take that (FINALLY) resolved struggle and run with it into some really grand adventures. That hurdle was MASSIVE. But there are more ahead.
I can embrace the *toothbrush* concept to a degree, but I hope Hook maintains his own distinctive hardcore personality separate from Emma. Could be wild fun, even with angst thrown in.
I hope A&E are up to the task.

ParticipantI agree PoM, the finale (beginning?) kiss was one of deep affection and dare I say it??? love. Much more intimate, emotional.
A totally different vibe from Emma because as predicted, she wanted him and the emotion attached.
The Neverland kiss was just her givin’ in to the temporary lust of the luscious leather dude. *It felt good* as she said, and it sure made US all feel good, too 🙂
I wouldn’t discount either of them in my quest for the visual appreciation of Hook’s fabulous mouth LOLOL. (yes, I am that shallow, today, anyway!)

ParticipantI would think the adjustments for Hook after Colin broke his leg were more time related than character or plot related ( though I hate to use both of the words Plot and Character any more because of the rabid excuses delusionally spewed by anti Hook crusaders to try and explain why every OUAT should be 100% Neal driven)
“Time” meaning they put off a bit what they wanted to do, time wise, but not story wise.
I feel they had the premise of everything Hook laid out quite plainly in their minds regarding who Hook was becoming and how he was going to get there. It would have been great to see Bae/Hook reactions…if Bae had been portrayed decently as an adult. But that didn’t come to be. I still don’t see the brooding, dark little boy in surfer dude Neal at all. I don’t think Neal had much of anything to do with Hook during season 2. Hook was still driven by raging revenge against Rumple.
For me, the two grown men didn’t even exist in the same brain cels for Emma. Neal was all past/pain/resentment/anger and Hook was all present/future/avoiding emotions, sass and whacking him on the head (ha)

ParticipantWelll, I just saw that on You Tube earlier and was thinking how much FUN we could have this fall if A&E stick with the program and give us some substantial adventures with Hook and his Lady 🙂
I am sure they will bash us around a bit, but that can be expected…and actually it wouldn’t be Hook and Emma if there wasn’t some frisk and risk! I’m just glad we are over the first few hundred Dreaded Hurdles of Angst and can move on to…the second hundred hurdles.
No sliding, Emma!
