Yup, SK, I believe you have it exactly right!
It is really deep …and yet simple… and all about the two of them. She pushed/ goaded him almost to the point of mocking him to get him to tell her, and he pushed back. I don’t believe that Hook is ready to trust Emma’ s emotions (or his own, completely) to handle just exactly how much he has given up from the moment he got back to EF and through the following year ~just to be by her side again. I think he also knows she is a bit scared of how deep those emotions could run. That is why his remark about her heart being able to be broken was HUGE . It was a very bluntly honest reminder to her that she has a great capacity to love because she has a great capacity to FEEL. And he is there .

Bo-PeepsParticipantA and E mix pics from different episodes scenes in their promos and don’t address leaked pics from scenes that most likely have been edited out so that they can maintain a modicum of control.
Is it fair to fans? Not really, but with the massive amounts of spoilers and no control over who can photograph anything during public filming, they have to try something to maintain the upper hand. In a way I don’t blame them.
The Shatner conversation was a funnnnn kick in the pants!

Bo-PeepsParticipantCallmeLola…
That gif strip made my day! Thank you for posting it. Don’t stop 🙂
I did see that exchange with Captain Kirk. HA HA HA!
Gotta love it. Just gotta. I have always had this rather odd, unexplainable fondness for William Shatner, even when I thought he was a total doof.

Bo-PeepsParticipantIn a nutshell…Hook and Emma are a classic dream team of UST (Unresolved Sexual Tension) for writer’s of episodic TV . The writing technique goes wayyyyyy back in TV shows and fandoms. In this instance, because of the genre of the show Fantasy/Fairy Tales/Magic/Disneyesque Romance/Hope, and because they have telegraphed the progression quite blatantly, I believe it will be resolved sooner rather than later! It is a gigantic magnet for certain types of soulful viewers and A and E know it. They also know that they can’t *play* their viewers with it for too much longer.
Colin, because he was/used to be a fairly unknown quantity in the US before Once, is under-rated as a seriously intense actor. Not anymore. His subtle/facial/eye emoting skills are incredibly high and he has instilled in Hook a deliciously in-depth soul. Perhaps more than the writers could dream he would. Jennifer is also as very good emoting actress who is saddled with a stoic, really stone hearted character whose tragedies don’t let her sunshine show much. That can be very tough to maintain and not become a character who is unsympathetic or even unliked. She balances it, so far, well. Because we are permitted to see *her pain* in little snippets.
If , however, in the face of his staunch devotion, “Emma” doesn’t show some genuine kindness (not attraction, we already know she has that in aces) towards “Hook” soon (UST notwithstanding) she runs the risk of being disliked. Not a good thing for the savior of the story!
As far as Hook goes, the writers hopefully will give her character some emotional fortitude. She has fallen for a lot of men, but none of them for reasons that address her complexities. Here is HER chance for the savior to be saved. If they mishandle it, it will be a huge failure. And shame on them.
Stepping away from too much introspective psychological theories (grin) I think Hook jumped on that horse the moment they got back to go after the woman he realized he loved. His pirate talk was all *talk*. He spent a whole year doing what he had to find Emma, with whatever help he could get, however he could get it, giving up whatever was necessary. The *what he did to get it* is the story he is keeping, temporarily, from Emma. I wouldn’t necessarily trust her with that info either! The current situation has to take a slight backseat (again) to their relationship. But he is determined, and edgily patient and devoted. He let down his walls and found his heart, he is not going to go quietly into the night, now.
(Emma is too damned snippy sometimes for her own good. She brought the whole thing up, she is capable of lying as well, and her meaness, even as a defense mechanism, is wearing mighty thin. (grin) )
Oh, and I thought the whole Rapunzel storyline was empty. David could have faced his fears without her two page script presence. Waste of a good Fairy Tale character. But the nursery dance and fight with his own demons was super for Charming.
Snow, even befuddled and pregnant, showed a freaky ignorance towards Zelena. I hope it is just the hormones!!!

March 24, 2014 at 12:09 pm in reply to: ONCE UPON A TIME RATING — links and discussions related to ratings. #255198Bo-PeepsParticipantJust a toss in. Not sure it matters at all…
ABC news, in my viewing area on the HD channel, went 10 minutes into the 8:00 time schedule, with America’s Home Videos totally gone from their line-up, then plastered in some unscheduled half hour show. I turned it back to the non HD channel which I also DVR…
The regular, local, ABC channel seemed to be on target, but anyone only watching HD channels was totally screwed.

Bo-PeepsParticipantOK.
Aside from really enjoying the dark/psychological flavor and David hero-mind set centric( I am loving me some Prince Charming for the first time!) episode…and all the Oz possibilities of who-is-what-character-or-a blend-of-them-and-by-the-way-they-are- ALL-Dorothy….
I am glad to see Hook being somewhat guarded about what he might know or have experienced…all the while being in her face about emotions. Make her work for the love you are offering her Hook! YES. Make her face the challenge and the depth. Even totally understanding her fears, I get peeved at Emma a lot (heh) choosing these bland, easy, shallow guys instead of facing a really complex, emotionally complicated partner, deeply sensual and intriguing…which is what she needs.
Yeah. Stay in her face, Hook 🙂

Bo-PeepsParticipantYup. SK, as you most likely know now, when you have a site freeze for hours on end for one “choice” -but not the others, refusing to acknowledge one set of votes while others went through without any issues-no matter how big the following of ANY of the choices,- you can bet the fix was in.
The transparency of that poll site was in serious question from day 1 when they stopped showing totals…and percentages all across the board hardly budged…or appeared locked in tandem.
It isn’t “sour grapes” it is simply evidence that the poll was disingenuous clap trap from the beginning. And they didn’t seem to even care how dishonest it looked.
Sadly, in a technologically controlled and quite Hackable world, anything determined by pressing a button is highly suspect.
The final four were most likely chosen for marketing purposes before it even went live.
Infuriating, but true. It destroys most of the fun (even knowing ahead of time that the outcome is out of the voters’ hands!)
-but it did bring together a small portion of the often ugly, fractured fandom of OUAT. That’s never a bad thing!
Thanks in large part to efforts like yours 🙂

Bo-PeepsParticipantKeep hammering away Oncers 🙂
Right now the site is only accepting votes for three out of the four couples. You guessed it, Hook Emma is frozen and not registering votes!
This is why I avoid these damned non-transparent sites whose integrity cannot be proven. But I get sucked in because… I hate to lose(grin).
But anyway, it is still a fun diversion from the crappy status of the rest of the real world!!
Vote on loyal ones, vote on!
***Always in search of a good flock***
Bo-PeepsParticipantYup. Might well be that “someone” knew Hook was relentlessly on his way to find Emma “at last” and that someone wanted to give Emma a solid reason to avoid the crazy guy with the funny bottle.
a rush job.
Keeping Emma, but more importantly , Henry, away from Regina.
moral of the story…never underestimate the power of the passion of a pirate on a path to his perfect person.
***Always in search of a good flock***
Bo-PeepsParticipantGood to read positive scenarios.
I, on the other hand, would like to see positive, but still rascally adventures between the two of them in Storybrooke, Enchanted Forest AND the Jolly Rodger. A daring realm hopping duo whose relationship is committed and deeply passionate but still affectionately combative/competive/sassy.
Emma would look great in Pirate Queen leather (wink) and Hook could own. modern day, edgy hunk.
Henry won’t stay a kid forever and there are injustices to battle 🙂
