September 2, 2014 at 11:40 am in reply to: Jamie and Claire~Outlander Fans…watch the Premiere online. #281405Bo-PeepsParticipantSo far, this series has been close to perfect š
Even with the deviations from the book ( and in truth the book could not be transformed to the small screen because well…books are a whole alternate universe!) This is prime entertainment and stand alone mesmerizing.
CLAIRE is the stuff that women dream of being.
Diana being the resident scolding prig was brilliant as well.

Bo-PeepsParticipantPudding as in the creamy, milk and butter, sweet, thick, super smooth non-wiggly jello, yummy dessert you scoop up with a spoon. Butterscotch or chocolate, banana, lemon even!
ALS challenge is still hilarious!

Bo-PeepsParticipantI was more a “Pudding” kid. (Grin)

Bo-PeepsParticipantAs many have stated already, my feeling about Neal is that he was created for Rumple and his main and most important relationship was with his father and their struggles with cowardice, and their history of abandonment that plagued both of them. It was always a father/son tale and journey. To the very end, father/son. Always. Rumple/Bae…Neal/Henry.
I feel that Emma’s connection to Neal was created to show how Emma became so emotionally hard and distrustful and why her walls were so damaging to her life. Their most tangible and hopeful creation was, of course, Henry. And he brought full circle the connection to Rumple. Without the bloodline ties with Henry, there wouldn’t be the soul searching of Ā Rumple to redeem himself. (Aside from the irresistible fantasy, this is mostly a story of family relationships and struggles…fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, mothers and sons, fathers and daughters etc. etc. The love relationships are the oh-so-sweet icing.)
Emma and Neal’s journey ended, for most intents and purposes, when he abandoned her first TO jail, then afterward when he still didn’t have the courage to be accountable for his past actions. Running away from his father and their history was always far more important than Ā how he had run away from Emma.
One other intent and purpose was to show the huge difference between Hook’s relationship with her compared to Neal’s. Hook refused to give up on her and desert Ā her once he realized what she was struggling against. Indeed, the issues tormenting her reflected his own emotional walls in “cause”. Pain from a failed love Ā caused both of them to live in emotional turmoil and grief. Once he loved her, it didn’t matter what he had to give up or risk. He would not abandon her. He chose loyalty and devotion. Polar opposite of Neal.
Tallahassee to me was a clear cut comparison of the end of Neal and Emma and the start of Emma and Hook.
There really is, in my mind, no comparing Rumple and Belle with Emma and Neal. Belle refuses to give up on Rumple and Neal gave up easily on Emma. Love is Rumple and Bell’s connection. Henry was Neal’s to Emma.

Bo-PeepsParticipantGeez guys, I cant believe how out in the wider fandom (aka- NOT this site) hard core SF/NF shippers/fans have actually embraced Hook & CSā¦ had another conversation- this time on FB & deliberate. It seems many SF/NF fans started to really like Hook & be ok with CS around mid 3B
Yup.
Genuine fans are moving with the flow and the new adventures or if they CAN’T with THAT…are going somewhere where they can actually support something and be positive. It would certainly wear on one’s soul to always beĀ complaining and blaming and wallowing. Killjoys are their own worst enemies.
Their choice. It is a lot more fun to feel good/positively anxiousĀ about things.
Even things that you know will keep you on the edge of your vicarious-fantasy-living seat on Sunday nights! Hook, Rumple, Regina, Belle, Charmings,Ā and leather-loving Emma will all give us plenty of angst and torment and laughs and snark and sass and oooOOOooo’sĀ and Holy WTH? moments.
Not long nowwwww.
Happy Labor Day to the stateside Oncers!
Happy Sunday to everyone else š
I am off to rewatch Jamie and Claire š on my KindleFire. “Sing me a song of a lass that is gone. Say, could that lass be I…”

Bo-PeepsParticipantPosting from the road on vacation š
Lovely pretties as usual, and I’m enjoying the theories and opinions š
Maurice…that would be a cool twist!
I always thought Ariel was swimmingly out of her element and out of her immature mind when she attacked Hook about Eric. Granted, she would have needed his help IF Eric had been captive onboard, but she still was being a selfish little prig afterward, considering that the moment she heard he was on an island, her underwater speed and connections (and as it happened, EASE of finding Eric on her own) were far more able than Hook’s. Her spewingly insulting rant to him was from a place of ignorance. I know it was used to set up one of my favorite emoting scenes of Hook’s~ hisĀ soul-tormented swearing of his love for Emma, so it didn’t realllly bother me. And I totally sucked in the swordplay and rapscallion duel between Hook and Blackbeard with sheer swashbuckling glee.
His killing of Blackbeard just gave us a reminder that in spite of his Shakespearean style manner of speech andĀ theĀ sultry passion of his potential affections, he was still a dangerous and very capable fighter. Given the moment, he was still a man to be highly respected in regard to his bravery, skillsĀ and dash.
Even when Storybrooke ArielĀ turned out to beĀ the sneering (personal space? What personal space?) Zelena, he never backed down. One of the things I have always liked about Hook is his fearless snark (some might label it cocky… it would suit him) and in-your-face attitude to people who could squash him like a bug if they really wanted to. It is extremely appealing.
Hook deserved his beloved ship back…and still does. (grin)
One of the very Captain-specific reasons I am looking forward to season 4 is what I hope will be his continuing inner struggle after losing his home, to fitting in a land-locked world and facing a total shift of lifestyle and purpose that includes his heart being somewhat in Emma’s hands. Hands that have yet to prove that they are capable of handling a passion and depth of feeling such as Hook offers. He is risking everything.
***Always in search of a good flock***
Bo-PeepsParticipantJust a quickie concerning Hook
“He is emotionally literate” (from the saga posted earlier )
…yup. Deeply.
***Always in search of a good flock***
Bo-PeepsParticipantSurayya, a hundred HookieĀ Cookie thanks for posting that saga!
…even with my ADD I read that one!
Before I was two minutes into it I thought “This is a writer” and “They have to be over 40!” And sure enough, when I followed…and “FOLLOWED”… your link, my gut feelings proved true.
It is a magnificent piece that put into intelligent words what so many of us know, gut-feel, glorify in and adore about the very complex characterizations of Hook and Emma.
When we don’t have to deal with the incessant shallow crap and ignorant discourse that is spewed and regurgitated by the projectionist fungi of reality TV born and bred “fandom” dolts…
THIS kind of depth is what ONCE offers us.
…not just with Hook and Emma, but with a heaping handful of the characters that keep us enthralled and devoted to the fantastical adventure.
Rumple and Regina as well, oh yesss.
Despite slips and trips and oops moments, understandable brain farts of continuity, this Ā show is a JOY.
Back to work and then back later to read everyone else’s thoughts and feelings:)
