Bo-PeepsParticipant
Well.
Robin and Marian. Classic, Iconic, Sacred even and yeah, they should be together. Screwing around with that is just…no. But they went there so they must deal with it.
I didn’t mind Robin and Regina coming together, even fast. In fact, it was fun to see SOMEONE going fast and being frisky. We who love The Captain and his Lady were alwaysssss waiiiiittttinnnggggg anddddd aggggonnnizzzinnnngggg. But the moment Marian showed up, and no matter the circumstances, Robin, who has proclaimed her the absolute love of his life, should be with her.
Now, we won’t find out if time travel (or a conk on the head with a log!) has affected Marian in a negative way until the premiere. But even killing Marian for what they might think is a valid reason, is gonna suck.

Fall is my busiest season, but there is no way I am going to resist anything Outlander. I may even attempt a Celtic ring/bracelet/scarf pin or two.
And Josephine, I actually thought of your knitting from the craft thread when I saw Claire’s cowl. Methinks there will be a considerable serge in Highlander styles over the winter. Can kilts catch on? Please!!!
I will attempt to get beyond the third book again, but really, with all the great visuals available for treating my Highland hungry eyes..my reading time will be shortened!

Bravo. She wasn’t around long enough in the first place. Great baddies never die! And she has the potential to be one of the greatest baddies, ever.
Good move, good news 🙂

Bo-PeepsParticipantOoooo, that leading man vid hit just the right note! You find the coolest vids, surayya!
I’ve actually been in “adoration” of Carlyle since Full Monty (when I had to be the translator for my kids~WTH did he just say, Mom?) but Dark One Rumple is his masterpiece so far.
The testosterone combo of Hook, Rumple and Charming is Irresistable. When a series has had a couple if years to settle in, the characters develop a comfortable rapport even (especially?) when they butt heads.
Robin is growing on me, too 🙂 it depends on how he deals with his “lady drama” (which, to be fair, is a no win situation) I still haven’t got a clue how they will resolve that!
Henry in EF would be a kick for him and us.
I have to absolutely agree with everyone who dismisses the “child abandonment” charges concerning Hook and Bae. There was no malicious intent, pre-planned sale or plotted evil regarding Bae. Hook tried several times to convince him to stay. He offered his protection, genuine concern and guidance and when Bae was determined to insultingly throw it all in his face and insisted he just be dropped off anywhere, (which, come to think of it was really teenaged -stupid heh) well…that vibrant passion I was talking about earlier kicked in and Hook didn’t fight for him when the lost creeps boarded. It was that internal, pained demon acting up in Hook again.
Indeed when Hook saw the marked out symbols on his ship’s wheel mounting( what is the real name for that????) that he had drawn while teaching Bae to navigate, it was a giant first step to overcoming those demons, recognizing he had to change his mindset and become a better man, show “good form” and go back to Storybrooke with the portal bean.

thanks, too for the suggestions of more discussion friendly forums to visit.
Perhaps (hope floats) when the season actually starts things will positively expand a bit.
until then…this is quite a good gathering of minds here in this thread!

Bo-PeepsParticipantTo each their own opinions and mine are just one woman’s. Not surprisely, my opinion of Belle still remains the same!
All the characters lines are written for them and they are defined by them. Yes, fans interpret, but it was very much in tune with what Belle often says.
Rumple, whom I oh-so-darkly adore , is who he is…a Dark, self-serving, power -obsessed wife killer, child deserter murderer.
Hook is a self-proclaimed womanizer and one if his most endearing relationships in the one he has with the floor! He is also all the things I mentioned.
And as I also mentioned, he has to be held accountable for his crappy actions.
It is how I see it. Still.
Regina wasn’t mentioned because, well, I wasn’t talking about Regina. (Grin) she is a basket case of darkness all on her own.
I have to say though that Hook’s ALS challenge is snort-worthy hilarious!

Bo-PeepsParticipantAbandonment isn’t Hook’s baggage/curse. Avenging loss and injustice are the weights on his brain and soul. When he has recognized his own injustices to others, he internalized it. Often it was hidden behind snark, rum soaking, bravado.
The “load bearing”walls are slowly tumbling down. For the multitude of ONCE characters who have the tendency to hide behind them.
I’ve never denied the rational feelings of Neal fans, their deep affection for him. Rational being the key word. He played out his part of the Rumple family history. That, as it played out in the writing of the creators, was his purpose. I think he and Emma summed up their relationship quite well in their final talk in the woods. THEY got it. NEAL will live on in Henry, As it should be

Bo-PeepsParticipantAny woman who is lip locking with the insidiously wretched mass murderer, wife killing, child deserting, power-loving, self-serving Dark One and calls someone ELSE rotten to the core while singing praises to the DO has got a few “pure heart” starburst and lollipop screws loose . Hello Belle!
For all her book smarts and devotion to Rumple, which are two admirable qualities, she can have seriously “dumb as a bag of hair” moments and be an enabling fool. Her fierceness of purpose can be applauded but she CAN be blinder-wearing thick.
RE: the necklace. At that point she was bonding with “Baelfire” and being enabling and sweet, not knowledgeable. Both of them were still in shock over Gold’s sacrifice. Touching moment for them but hardly the Ultimate TL truth.
(Very little truth as scripted or filmed is appealing to or is accepted by the St. NEAL Brigade. But devotion to delusion is paramount to their existence.)
Hook is a quite tormented soul, capable of vibrant passion. His demons lie deep within. He has acted a lot of his pain and anger out in really crappy ways, for which he must be accountable. That accountability is turned inward. Sign of a genuinely good core with self healing potential.
Belle was way off her maaaark.
The intriguing part of Belle’s and Rumple’s new partnership will be seeing how enabling and blinder-wearing Belle will remain.

August 25, 2014 at 12:11 pm in reply to: Jamie and Claire~Outlander Fans…watch the Premiere online. #280880Bo-PeepsParticipantThanks Myril for that great link.
Aside from my very easy and ridiculously fun and shallow obsession with Jamie (no no I don’t care, I will never give it up!), I am unabashedly addicted to strong women in literature. Especially historical literature where you can see (and seethe as well as be soul glowingly proud) just how wretched and hard it has been to be female in history and how very far we have come and how tremendously and fiercely we have fought for equality as human beings.

August 25, 2014 at 11:59 am in reply to: Jamie and Claire~Outlander Fans…watch the Premiere online. #280879Bo-PeepsParticipantHahaha! I am so going to love this whole series and commentaries.
“eff this effing century” except…
the visuals and scenery and every freaking moment in the Highlands is so extraordinarily more beautiful than any scene, visuals, and freaking moment with ol’ Frank in much more modern times ( which to us is still the blah blah black and white -ish 1930-40’s non-kilt wearing, non-ruffled red hairish bore!)
I never could understand…except for indoor plumbing, penicillin, electricity, refrigerated food and 40’s torch songs (heh) why Claire ever really wanted to go back to Frank. Yes, I know, the plot thickens and after awhile the draw of indoor plumbing and refrigerated food WOULD be strong…but…
come on. Jamie. I mean…JAMIE.
I didn’t mind the new material/storyline they added. They have done a painstaking job in tackling this and so far it’s a feast.

August 24, 2014 at 11:50 pm in reply to: Jamie and Claire~Outlander Fans…watch the Premiere online. #280858Bo-PeepsParticipantIt isn’t your normal or even abnormal time travel. It is distinctly different. Especially since we follow a strong and independent woman in the lead. The realism takes you right into the story, even when she passes through centuries.
Josephine I would, as others have, highly recommend Outlander as a soul inspiring escapism drama/romance/time travel. Especially if we have a fast arriving fall and winter 🙂 Once you get with the rhythm of her writing, if it quite possible no one will see you for a few days until you finish it (grin)
Surayya~ I bought book five and six at the local used- book sanctuary…it’s about time I tackled some Celtic history again, you know, to keep in touch with my distant heritage (wink wink) yeah, that’s the ticket! When I go back in time from the comfort of my overstuffed reading chair, I want to be Clare. Again and again and again.
