Reviews, theories, and talk about ABC's Once Upon a Time TV show
I’m sorry , but I also really don’t think he’s Frankenstein. That is just too far fetched and ridiculous for a show about fairy tales.
I’m still going with it. Even if it was after the curse broke, no one knows who he is and no one has any power right now except Regina and maybe Rumpel. The argument that he can’t have a god complex and be a god only works if the person making the statement knows he was a god!
I’m not saying I’m right, but its a heck of a lot better than the Frankenstein theory IMHO. It would even mesh well with the Halloween themed episode with the whole dead, underworld thing.

Long story short, someone with a “god complex” is a big poser. If Whale was an actual god, there would be no complex, he would not have to refuse to admit the possibility of failure because there is no possibility of failure when you are a god. The fact that Archie diagnose Whale with said “god complex” makes him desperately human.
Ah, yes, but at the time this diagnosis was supposedly made, wouldn’t he have in fact been “desperately human…” Remember that there were no actual gods in Storybrooke (or princes, or dwarves, or fairies…)
