ParticipantNice Stelio!
Not surprised to hear that Delena won, even though i’d hoped that the cheating would be addressed *sigh* I find it hard to believe they got more votes (honestly) than Caskett for example. Anyway, it was great to hear Colin and Jen’s names being called out and i actually like the scene they showed!Ā
If they had showed the kiss people would have been like “how did Delena win?” lolĀThey got a really good scream as well!!!!! š

ParticipantBeautifully written analysis by sincerelygsh:
CAPTAIN SWAN || THE NEW NEVERLAND
Further analysis on The New Neverland.
Hook resorts back to using alcohol and Emma falls into a state of hopelessness. Instinctively longing for one another without confirmation of where the heart lies causes them to lose sight of whatās good, and it leaves them agonizingly trying to make sense of situations without the comfort of one another that had become home to them.
Thereās a brief instance when Neal and Hook are talking and you could see Emma looking to Hook. It almost seems instinctive, similar to the stolen glances at Neverland.
āA one handed pirate with a drinking problem.ā After this was mentioned, viewers werenāt given any other instances of Hook drinking until this episode. When it comes to behavior, thereās an obvious level of maturity present within the men and Neal proved that by bringing up rum. The only necessity of him stating the obvious was to foreshadow that Hook would in fact rely on rum again, and that aside, it came off far too snarky on Nealās end, almost as a way to belittle him, when in fact, it spoke more loudly on his end because you donāt mock someone with a possible addiction. Not to mention, it makes all the sense in the world to come from Pan but from Neal? Unnecessary. This couldāve come off much differently had Neal mentioned Emma because even a stranger walking into Grannieās wouldāve known how deeply rooted Hookās love for Emma is simply by the way he looks at her. Thatās sort of it, itās as though Neal doesnāt exactly pay attention to what Hook says or does to really see who he is as a person. This speaks highly for another point which is Hookās confession about backing off – Neal doesnāt listen to him. Formal business aside, does Neal not understand sarcasm? He thanks Hook right after he clarifies that the only serious part of that statement was about his looks. I mean, okay? Hook basically puts him on blast by being the only person to have acknowledged that heās left Emma, yet Neal doesnāt own up to his mistakes. Itās really not that he owes any explanation to Hook but itās fair to assume that if viewers were meant to hold onto any hope of Swanfire rekindling, heād defend himself with something along the lines of āyes, I screwed up, but it will be different this timeā.
Neal isnāt capable of making rational decisions when it comes to a romantic relationship with Emma because he doesnāt think further than a reunion. They have a past, a lovely one where they were both there for one another, but choices and circumstances forced them apart, and when Neal had the opportunity to return, he let fear govern his choices. Even though he didnāt want to reunite with his father, the love between him and Emma Ā wasnāt strong enough to gravitate him towards her as itās done so wondrously with Snow and Charming. Surely, the product of true love deserves the kind of relationship thatās similar to her parents if not even stronger.
This is the first time he watches Emma and Henry interact alone; therefore, this is also probably the moment he truly realizes just how much he doesnāt want to repeat the past. Milah may have wanted to go back for Bae, but she didnāt or at least she wasnāt able to until it was too late. She chose Hook, and he later did the honorable thing by taking on the responsibility Milah shouldāve because of how much he loved her. He understands that no matter whoās in the picture, no matter what Emma wants or doesnāt, she disregards everything to keep Henry happy. She had to leave him before and now that she can be his parent, sheās never going to abandon him. Sheās being selfless and that inspires him, that makes him fall harder, and it destroys him that heās not a part of her life. This is the expression of a man whoās looking at the entire purpose of his existence and desperately wanting to be her safe haven. As said previously over and over again, heās doing whatever he believes is best for Emma. He doesnāt want to pressure her into making a choice. He wants her to realize for herself that heād never leave her, that heās crazy in love with her, and that every single thing heās done has been for her.
There are a few places other than the docks Emma couldāve gone to when she was avoiding the date (their loft, the park viewers saw in 2×22, and probably a few other places). The significance behind the docks was to present intuitions. Sheās there because heās given her hope. Sheās lost, unsure of Henryās behavior, has no one to talk to, and heās always been a foot away if sheās needed him. Because this is the first time Hook and Emma are separated without clarification on where they stand with one another, theyāre both in places the other would be. Since Emma looked surprised to see her father, itās safe to assume she didnāt text him her whereabouts. Therefore, of all the places mentioned, howād he know where to find his daughter? As much as David has insulted Hook, weāve returned from Neverland with them as mates – whether itās addressed yet or not, it is what it is, the men donāt hate each other anymore. Charming has seen Hookās heart. He states that heās here to make sure Emmaās okay, not why she bailed on the date. By asking about Hook, Emmaās attempting to finding out what her dad thinks of him similarly to the way she brought up the kiss to Snow. Itās incredibly lovely on his part that he turns it into a joke because what heās doing is giving his daughter indirect approval and forcing her to make the choice herself. Heās not telling her who to choose by any means. Heās telling her to take a leap of faith – giving her a ride to the diner wasnāt him saying āpick Neal pick Nealā it was him giving his daughter a moment as he continuously emphasized is a necessity no matter what kind of a life is led. This moment was Emma being freed for a while. It was a conversation with her father in which he reassured her that she deserves happiness. It was a break, a āgo get lunch with him and if you donāt like it, thatās fine.ā Hook has constantly given Emma good moments and at this point, Iām certain Charming is well aware of that. However, itās up to Emma to make the choice on her own terms.
Now, Hookās drunk and looking to forget. Heās in pain. He has been since the moment he confessed his love to Emma and sent her in the arms of her first love. He may be a confident man but even they get hopeless and depressed when the woman they love doesnāt feel the same. As much as heās been her rock in Neverland, now that she has Henry, heās allowed himself to give into the pain heās kept concealed for her. Heās resorted back to alcohol because itās what heās known to ease the aches for so long. As much as heās a man of honor, it shouldnāt be a surprise by now that Emma turns him into a 13 year old from time to time. However, when it comes to facial expressions, his have a novel written on them, the moment they heard the scream, he was instantly able to revive himself into the shield heās been because the possibility of Emma or anyone else she loves being in danger. Her happiness is all that matters to him. Itās only when he sees her safe and sound that he pulls the whole āperhapsā shenanigans. The necessity of them sharing glances right when everyone ran was completely intentional. This goes to show that Emma is in fact jealous. Sheās fighting him off. Itās exactly as David said, in the midst of bad things, look for the good moments, and thatās what theyāve intuitively done in Neverland. Theyāve shared these stolen glances here and there because thereās always been an unspoken comfort between them. This one particularly was Emmaās jealousy talking. Even though she hasnāt verbally said it yet, sheās seen him as her equal; therefore, naturally the idea of him and another woman is going to bother her. They even finished each otherās sentences: āI do know the Shadow only takes orders from one person.ā āPan.ā These little moments are intended by writers to show the specifics of the rare bond they share.
Killianās not only a man of his word, but a man of action, sheās seen every good thing heās done for her since heās fallen for her. Sheās seen his heart. She understands his character and he understands her in a way no one else does. That is why Hook is able to find her a year later. An elaborate declaration of love on Emmaās part wasnāt necessary for him to be at ease. Good was enough. āGoodā emphasized that all the moments theyāve shared have meant something to her, and she wants him to hold on to that. The aspirational glances that were exchanged allowed him to truly understand just how much she values him, and it instilled hope back into her heart just as heād continuously done in Neverland.
Something tells me the darling pirate hasnāt had rum in a while because the difference between this separation and the one in The New Neverland is, he knows how Emma feels about him.

Participant@rumplegoldfan – here you go! I love this scene too. What makes me laugh is that the other side are like “ooooooh she wasn’t going to say goodbye to Hook!!!!!!!!!!!!!”, when it was clearly important enough to the writers to make sure they were as alone as possible, and it was her last goodbye before Snow’s. I mean really, I just lol when i read that kind of thing.
Don’t make me say goodbye.

I love this too, she only really starts to actually BREAK when he says goodbye. I love how he tried to make it easier on her by making her smile.

“People say I love you all the time – when they say, ātake an umbrella, itās raining,ā or āhurry back,ā or even āwatch out, youāll break your neck.ā There are hundreds of ways of wording it – you just have to listen for it, my dear.”
