They’re three-word sentences, so I’d have something to say instead of the three words that are… that are killing me. The three words that you know I feel, but I can’t say them, because it would be cruel to say, because I am no good for you. I don’t want to torture you. I don’t want to look at you longingly when I know I can’t be with you.

If Hook did something like that, if it were not an issue of “true love’s kiss”, it could be a defining moment when she gains courage enough to face the truth of her feelings for him. I’ve wondered if it would take something like that for her to let her guard down.
To be honest i really think that Emma’s guard is already halfway down. Her “good” alone is HUGE, she WANTS him to love her, she WANTS him to never forget her. That alone speaks VOLUMES to where Emma’s at and confirms what we were thinking about her in 3×10 – that she was missing him, missing his presence. JMo has also said that Emma has made strides this season with regards to expressing her emotions – she now finds it easier. I think we might be seeing a slightly different Emma in 3B, and one who is showing her feelings for Killian in more obvious ways than she has thus far.

Adding on to this as one of the married moms – one of the SF arguments that makes me cringe is that Neal really “knows” and “understands” Emma but Hook doesn’t.
I’ve seen that too and it just makes me laugh.
I think they’re taking it from Adam or Eddie saying that Neal had met a kindred spirit when Emma was stealing the car. But as you say, that was then, and this is now.
Emma understands Neal, especially his experiences as a child, but adult Neal has had NO CANON SCENE of understanding Emma. At all. In every scene they’ve shared together (except for the Echo Cave scene) Emma has been extremely closed off with him, never caught off her guard by him in any way.
The fact that Neal left her in the first place and thought that she would be “ok” (“if I knew she was ok I could move on” – and he did move on, again, in CANON) about it shows that he does not understand her, or her abandonment issues etc.
All last summer it has been Emma and Killian that were promoted as kindred spirits. Over and over again. In the present day. And were shown, in CANON, to understand each other.
Yeah, again, their argument is very grasping-at-straws-y.
Only one couple is getting development in a romantic way and it ‘ain’t Swanfire.

But we get the benefit as viewers of seeing into Hook’s past, present and heart. Seeing that, responsible mom that I am would be all for my fictional daughter and Hook to get married and Cinderella coach it all the way back to Storybrooke.
I love this.
This is one of my favorite parts about the NL arc… she looks to Hook for confirmation, support, advise and directions.

Exactly. Tallahassee was the first backstory for Emma. It was all about her. About how she loved and trusted someone else, and basically what happened when that trust was broken.
And we weren’t meant to empathise with Neal in Manhattan either, with regards to the whole jail/abandonment thing. It was again, about Emma’s pain.
When it came to Neal and Rumple however, we were supposed to empathise with both of them. And I did.
In 2×21 when Neal apologised to Emma, I empathised with both of them. However, it was not in the sense of romance or anything. They were both in pain in that scene.
This is why I honestly don’t get how SF shippers can defend what Neal did, with regards to the jail OR the abandonment.
Because Neal apologised, and when you apologise for something, it means you feel guilty. It means you know you did something wrong.
End of story.

The whole scene can be condensed down to one piece of dialogue from Emma:
That’s very sweet, but I believe it’s my fault.
Emma knew it was her own fault that she was in that cell. She KNEW she had judged Killian unfairly. You could even see that her eyes were bright with tears when she left him chained up.
And that reminds me of ANOTHER Emma quote:
Generally speaking, if you think something you’re doing is wrong… it is.
So yeah.
Anyway, the constant SF attack on the cell scene is literally something they use to “compare” Neal leaving Emma in jail (LMAO sorry they’re not at all comparable) so that they can justify his actions. Because the only ones that justify his actions are Neal-lovers.
(and the fact that Neal APOLOGISED FOR HIS ACTIONS PROVES THAT HE THINKS WHAT HE DID WAS WRONG)
And neither Killian nor Emma has brought up the cell scene, so obviously neither are bothered by it in the slightest.
The truth is we weren’t supposed to empathise with Neal in Tallahassee. We were supposed to empathise with Emma. I mean, the closing scene of those flashbacks was of Emma, in prison, holding a positive pregnancy test.

That’s why I am so adamant that if he leaves the show, I’m gone. It’s not a matter of not wanting to watch. I just couldn’t bare to. Not after becoming so attached to him like that, even if he is fiction.
……. to be honest, I agree. Because if he leaves, then in my mind EMMA doesn’t get her happy ending either.
But it’s not going to happen, no worries 🙂
We have absolutely NOTHING to worry about on that score, seriously. Emma and Killian are the direction in which the show is going, I PROMISE 😉
