Much like Snow and Charming, when faced with life without True Love in it, they reverted to their worst selves once again. Emma no longer believed in herself or that she wouldn’t fail without Killian’s constant support, and without Emma, Killian slid back into his Hook persona, drowning his sorrows in a bottle of rum and seeking comfort with Tinkerbell.

I agree. Even some SwanFire scenes we’ve gotten in Neverland, there’s still some CS undertones. Like in Ariel. I think thats a prime example. We have a SwanFire reunion in the Echo Caves, but just before that happens, Hook admits that he’s moved on from his first love Milah and he loves Emma. He’s showing Emma that it is possible to move on from your first love and that speech, helped her realize what’s been holding her back and why she didn’t want to believe that Neal was alive. Even after they get out from the caves, the whole, ā€˜I’m not going to shop fighting for you’ <– still a very douchebag thing to say to Emma, IMO) it was over shadowed by Hook easedropping on that part of the conversation and him, thinking that Emma told Neal about his big dark secret (confirmed the following episode). In Storybrooke, after Emma runs out on her lunch date with Neal, she goes to the docks. Hook’s ship is at the docks. She’s already thinking about and missing him and she’s the one who brings him up to David.[/quote] ^^^^^^^ Yup. EDIT: @Stelio, IĀ agree with what you're saying as well šŸ™‚

Neal??? What is WRONG with you? You don’t see someone you say you loved for 11 years and you rip into her as soon as you see her?! Seriously?!

THANK YOU this is one of the reasons I requested that gifset that caused such a controversy lol. The difference is clear!!! I highly doubt Charming would have yelled at Snow if Snow had accidentally brought George to him after not seeing her for 11 years. Lol

Ok, and I really don’t think I’ve got my ā€˜shipper goggles’ on here…how does anyone say that Hook leaving Emma in the cell is some horrific and dastardly act? After leaving him with some giant that, based on the general opinion of the human population is pretty much a death sentence? Um, no. Hook completely explains himself, and makes it clear why exactly she’s landed in the mess she’s in. And frankly, I think by that time, Hook knew full well she’d figure out how to get herself out of the cell. At no time do I believe she OR Hook thought she was actually going to be left to die.

LMAO, I find that argument soooooooo funny, I really do. It’s literally IMO, grasping at straws *shrugs*

Yeah, and I mean, Emma knew herself it was her own fault. She blamed herself. And it was true, she should have trusted her instincts about him. But we ALL know why she couldn’t.

Killian didn’t trap her there maliciously, in fact the whole time he was speaking to her you could clearly see he was hurt.

AndĀ I just love how everyone’s like “EVEN RUMPLE COULDN’T GET OUT OF THE CELL” when EMMA HERSELF SAID THAT VERY EPISODE “you could’ve gotten out”

And p.s. I highly doubt Killian knew that the cell was supposed to be “inescapable”, because if he had known about Rumple being in that cell and powerless, he would have went and executed his revenge post-haste šŸ™‚

CaptainEala wrote: in 3Ɨ11, when they were saying goodbye and didn’t know how long it would be until they saw each other again, was the PERFECT time to exchange ā€œI love you’s, they gave them one of the most platonic goodbyes I’ve ever seen between people who love each other. :)

VERY good point! I also thought the Swanfire goodbye scene was very platonic and it’s highly likely that it was written that way on purpose.

Yeah, I mean, at the beginning of this season I wasĀ a bit apprehensiveĀ they might go the love triangle route, and put Emma with Neal before eventually moving on with Killian. But I saw very quickly before Neal came back into the picture that it’s just not in Emma’s character to do that kind of thing. Emma forms very deep emotional attachments, just like you said, so it would make absolutely zero sense for her to get with Neal again and skedaddle back over to Killian (and lol, vice-versa I suppose). It literally makes no sense for her character.

And then there’s what the show is actually SHOWING us. Every opportunity they had to give us a romantic Swanfire scene, they didn’t take it.

    • They didn’t take the opportunity during their reunion in ArielĀ (in fact it was the extreme OPPOSITE of romantic)
    • They didn’t take the opportunity outside the cave in Ariel
    • They didn’t take the opportunity in Dark Hollow (in fact they gave the opportunity to Killian)
    • They didn’t take the opportunity in Save Henry, when he and Emma were alone together (no Killian in sight)
    • They didn’t take the opportunity in The New Neverland, when Neal specifically asked for lunch, and said that if she didn’t go to lunch he would “stop bugging her” and Emma wilfully DID NOT meet up with him
    • They didn’t take the opportunity in Going Home during their goodbye (gave the romantic goodbye to Killian)
    • They didn’t take the opportunity in Going Home when it, BY ALL ACCOUNTS, should have been Neal, when he had failed to find her so many times before, but again, they gave that opportunity to Killian, and all through season 1 and 2 we were watching Snowing find each other again and again

So yeah, it’s clearly not something the writers want to do, lol.

Happy New Year to all my CS shipmates and fellow Oncers! Hope you all have a wonderful year filled with many blessings and many good CS moments!

And the same to you!!! šŸ™‚

What comes to mind in regards to this, is the bar scene in ā€œManhattanā€ where Neal asks Emma why she still has the swan keychain/necklace he gave her. She replies, ā€œTo remind myself never to trust someone again.ā€ That one sentence speaks VOLUMES! She admitted to Neal that HE is the reason she has trust issues. And then, in her first real attempt at moving on from him, she gave him that keychain/necklace back. I think that’s significant.

^^^^ GREAT point. I never even saw that as the start of her moving on.

I’m not trying to bash Neal at all. In many ways I feel very sorry for him, but not when it comes to Emma.

^^^^ Agreed. We don’t actually bash Neal here, I mean, there is some terrible stuff on tumblr and I’ve had to block a few people who are downright vicious about him.

He and Emma are not True Love. That’s what it ultimately comes down to – because no-one would treat their True Loves in the way that Neal did. And I’m not just talking about him being an accomplice to putting her to jail. There are many, MANY times where he has subtly and not-so-subtly put her down. When True Love is supposed to LIFT YOU UP.

Sometimes I can get so angry at him for what he did to Emma, but anything I do say about himĀ in comparison to Killian is how he is not an example – that I would see anyway – of A&Es version of TL.

I think @MysteryKat25 said it – but if Swanfire areĀ what a fairytale romance is supposed to be like, then I don’t want it.

Happy New Years everyone. Hoping for a wonderful year and Hook-filled spring.

Hoping for a Captain Swan spring!!! šŸ˜‰ Happy New Year to you too!

    @obisgirl
    – I totally agree. I honestly don’t understand how SFers think it’s a good thing either, especially, because the last time Emma told Neal she loved him, they played the True Love song… yeah she truly loves him, we know that. But in that scene, they played EMMA’S SONG, the song of PAIN AND ABANDONMENT.

Not to mention that she said “I love you and I probably always will BUT”. I mean, that rings of FINALITY. IĀ thought when she said that that she wouldn’t be telling Neal she loved him again. And I was right – in 3×11, when they were saying goodbye and didn’t know how long it would be until they saw each other again, was theĀ PERFECT time to exchange “I love you’s, Ā they gave them one of the most platonic goodbyes I’ve ever seen between people who love each other.

Swanfire has run it’s course, romantically. They are moving on towards a friendship, and I hope to see it, for both their sakes.

But yeah. 99.9% sure Emma won’t be telling Neal she loves him again.

    VIVA LA CAPTAIN SWAN!!! šŸ™‚

Just saw this on tumblr, lol!

Friendly reminder: In 2014 Killian and Emma will probably share True Love’s Kiss.

    Happy New Year shipmates!

Mind you, they were not in a relationship and didn’t owe her an explanation because there was nothing romantic going on at that point.

But Neal leaving her behind without an explanation and sending her to jail, he owed her one then.
