And the best part is, the explanation in the essay has NOTHING to do with Hook – just like our CS ship has been saying. My frustrations with how Neal has been handled have NOTHING to do with me wanting Emma with Hook. I still wanted to see some kind of depth to Neal as a character
Yeah, I mean, most of us here with the exception of @obisgirl ENJOYED Neal in Nasty Habits. I really, really thought he was badass in that ep. But then he was relegated to the role of plot device at the end of the episode when Pan put him in a cage.
HONESTLY the writers chose not to develop him, chose not to show us what he thinks/feels about things other than his relationship with his dad, and it’s for that reason that I believe that his death has been planned, although i go back and forth on that. Who knows, maybe MRJ asked to leave at the end of season 2 and A&E decided to kill him off (because A&E said they came up with the concept for season 3 while the back half of season 2 was airing I believe).
And SF folks will NEVER understand why most of the fandom dislikes Neal, because from what i’ve seen in most cases, in the SF relationship, Neal is the important one. Not Emma.

Hi guys, did everyone read this essay from Screwball Ninja about why Neal gets no love? Basically everything we’ve been saying all along. Of course, I’m sure SFers won’t agree (even though there are a lot of them around here who put a lot of stock in Screwball’s opinions) but maybe I’m wrong.
