@SK – great summary of everything. Right now with the evidence we have it indicates that Neal is dead. Would be happy to be proven wrong but that’s it really.

@Sarah_TN – I know what you’re saying about A&E wanting to surprise us, but at the same time, hiding Neal away in studios until the end of the season? Not fighting with everyone? Not spending time with his son? Not going after Emma? It’s WAAAAY fishy to me. Most fans don’t keep track of filming and will be COMPLETELY blindsighted by this death. Honestly, right now, all signs point to Neal, and as you say, both Hook and Belle, the other two likely candidates to die, will have backstory in season 4. And A&E have already said that when this character is dead – he won’t be appearing again I believe.

I’m actually quite numb to this spoiler now, not happy about it but not that sad anymore either. It just is. I’m actually glad they released it early.

Guys we’re just SO spoiled this season omg.

Hook is being set up as the main male lead – on at least an equal footing with Charming. EVERYONE’S fate will be in Hook’s hands. Nobody remembers anything… except him because he obviously escapes the curse. Ugh. This is just so perfect I could cry, I really could. Also, they’re paralleling him very strongly to Henry AGAIN – in season 1 Henry was the only one who knew the truth. And now it’s Killian. And you know, in case you forgot, Henry is one of Emma’s TL.

I know, I feel the same way. Season 2B (not that it was split, but you know what I mean) is definitely unsettling for those reasons. Whether or not it has to do with the fact that Colin broke his leg and couldn’t film most of that time, we’ll never know. I just have to hold onto the fact that they very obviously changed direction in 3A. I’ve always watched the show, but I was only half-interested going into this season – you better believe I snapped to attention once the CS relationship started up! I’ve said before, but I’ll be kind of angry if we were led down this road only for it to end badly! Now back to your regular schedule smoochies….:)

That’s why, Eala, I have a section in my meta called ‘Unhealthy True Love’, followed by ‘Destructive True Love’, which I often confuse because both speak of similar themes. But SwanFire definitely goes under both.

I really can’t wait to read this 🙂

What I don’t understand about the pain is healthy thing, when it comes to a different pairing, like Rumbelle, people hate that stuff. Like the constant separation.  There’s a lot of pain there too when it comes to that but somehow, when it relates to SwanFire, it’s seen as something that’ll make their relationship stronger.  I don’t understand the logic here.

It’s not even the SAME. With Rumbelle, the separation is different – they’re in mental anguish without each other sure, but it’s not the same as Rumple leaving Belle without her knowing why and spending TEN YEARS in a fog about why. It’s especially bad that Neal did it to Emma because he knew about all her abandonment issues. It comes down to: Neal should have offered Emma a choice. The end.

And tbh, i’m being terrible, but there is no logic to understand there *rolls eyes*

Jane Espenson even said, there are obstacles in romance.  That’s true, otherwise, you would not even have a story but pain, in general, is not something that should be romanticized at all.

Emma thinks it would be good to have Neal in Henry’s life, for him, but she it’s still painful for her to accept Neal back into her life romantically.

This is what i find hilarious. Apparently if Hook dies that’s all Emma needs to go back to Neal. Like, what? Have you even been watching? Even Daniel, THE CREATOR OF THIS SITE WHO SHIPPED SF RELIGIOUSLY (i’m going to bring this up all the time it still amazes me), says that A&E have been hinting that Emma wants to move beyond her love for Neal.

FYI, I don’t think the whole time Hook was on his vengeance kick, that he felt good about himself and what he was doing.  He was in constant pain because he lost his love.  Same thing can be said for Regina after she lost her true love, Daniel. So yeah, pain is NOT a happy thing.

Oh he definitely wasn’t, even SFers couldn’t say he was happy. He was very obviously miserable. Poor baby.

And that’s a good point actually, she would have moved on with Graham if he survived. Huh. I hadn’t thought about Graham much, only thinking of the transition from Neal to Hook.

Graham was SO important omg, both to show Emma that it was possible to move on from Neal and open her heart again, and also to add to the whole Kindred Spirits thing for CS, as in losing people the same way.

Don’t forget, only a few days later she said she hoped he was dead so she could move on from the pain he caused her. You can’t really get more definitive than that.

His death was a RELIEF to her because her love for him causes her pain – love isn’t supposed to be about pain. That’s why Swanfire is SO UNHEALTHY. SFers like to think that all Emma has to do is get over that pain and everything will be fine and dandy again. But that kind of emotional and mental abuse (Emma thinking she was unloveable for over a decade, NEVER getting even a semblance of closure, not attempting to move on from it until Graham) leaves scars that can NEVER be healed. Never. The edges of the pain can be dulled, but being around the person who caused all that pain is just going to make it come out again. Like Emma said “the pain came flooding back” when she saw him in NY. I’m about to get personal (yet again skip to last sentence if you don’t want to know lol) but having experienced both mental and emotional abuse i can tell you that I don’t feel at all comfortable in the person who’s presence caused it, even though I LOVE them. And the pain they caused me still haunts me.

Honestly, no worries 🙂 Trust A&E, they’re telling an amazing story so far!
