We’ve had two interviews, both sets of info gotten at the TCAs
IN ONE OF THE INTERVIEWS:
EDDIE: “THERE’S A GOOD REASON NEAL ISN’T THERE”
AND IN THE SECOND INTERVIEW:
“IT’S NOT THE WHY HOOK IS THERE, IT’S THE HOW AND WHEN”
BASICALLY SAYING
THAT IT DOESN’T MATTER WHY HOOK IS THERE
BECAUSE IT’S A FOREGONE CONCLUSION AS TO “WHY”
AND THE GOOD REASON NEAL ISN’T THERE
IS BECAUSE NEAL ISN’T EMMA’S TRUE LOVE, KILLIAN IS

This Hook looked like he genuinely felt bad at seeing Rumple “die” like that.
I think the finale was VERY interesting for Hook and Rumple – even if it wasn’t made obvious. Killian has obviously changed his mind in terms of thinking Rumple an irredeemable monster.
And i think Rumple empathised with Killian in a way as well – he almost cut off his left hand with the same sword he used to cut off Killian’s. These things aren’t done by accident.
I think if Killian felt that Emma would bring more danger to herself or her family by coming back he would just leave her in her happy ending with Henry. For him to come back aside from his love for her they must really need Emma’s help.
I’m kind of conflicted on this. Emma said her memories “wouldn’t be real” and that it didn’t sound like much of a Happy Ending. So i’m kind of conflicted as to what Killian did in the year – did he push to find a way back to Emma? Did he feel like she was happy and didn’t want to ruin it? So many questions.
Hook must have been in a position where he was their best chance to bring back Emma to help them all.
Honestly i ZERO percent care about this. The fact is, the writers chose to send Killian, not Neal. They chose to injure him (which i think unlikely personally) or they chose to make him passive, or they chose for the decision to be taken out of his hands. IT LITERALLY DOESN’T MATTER. Killian is the one who is there, who is bringing back her memories, who is bringing her HOME (BELIEVE A LOST GIRL CAN FIND HER WAY HOME, BELIEVE A PIRATE CAN BE A HERO), who is attempting True Love’s Kiss.
THAT IS FREAKING HUGE
Like Adam and Eddie said, what matters is the HOW AND WHEN, not the WHY, Killian went after her.

Neal might have a standing order set up where his rent automatically gets paid, especially if he has enough savings. So long as the rent is getting paid, the landlord won’t come knocking.
I wonder where he’s getting the money from though? Yeah i think it’s just gunna be skimmed over.
