What people have to remember is that this is still about Fairytales, and not the grim versions of them. The one where there is a happy ending–plus the themes of love, redemption, good vs evil, and power show strong.
I second this! Great insight Elle !!!

And given the fact that magic is unpredictable in this world, it may not be quite as difficult as it was in Fairytale land. In Fairytale land, most of the magic was being used by fairies, warlocks or witches. But magic in this world is a lot more subtle. We’ve already seen that with Emma. We’ve seen her magic influence people, but we never actually see her make an effort to make her magic work. So, true love may be the same way. You don’t have to be a power witch to make it work. All you need is true love.
Let’s not forget that this true love potion that was tossed into the well is from SW/PC’s true love..so I’m thinking one of the things that will tie into this new world is the “product of the magic”/Emma finding her true love..or accepting true love. That may become one of the major themes..

Someone mentioned that what if the smoked cleared and some people were missing?! Ugh… one of them would probably be Belle, possibly Henry. hah
Oh no! Whatever they do, please don’t let them separate SW/PC aka DN/MM again. If they repeat the line “I’ll always find you” in one more episode…well, that line is just getting old for me I think 😆

I’m wondering if there’s some connection between Rumple’s ability to spin gold and Midas’ curse.
I’m almost positive that Rumpel gave Midas his golden curse. POSITIVE!!!
OMG! Definitely, great thought!! I bet Midas wasn’t very specific in asking when he made that deal 😆
celesstarrParticipantIf you watch the finale closely you can see that they juxtaposed Jefferson’s scene with Regina at the hospital with Emma’s scene meeting with August right before he turns to wood. For me, Emma and August always had this brotherly/sisterly feel to their relationship…so I’m thinking the writers are implying that there is that same element in Jefferson/Regina’s relationship.
celesstarrParticipantI’d offer up for that opal ring Mr. Gold wears..but he’ll probably give it to Belle 😆

I never said i think the episodes should be removed just that they could and the show would still make sense.
That is where we differ. These writers don’t create “filler” episodes or “filler” scenes..
every scene is either laying a foundation or planting a seed for future plots. The finale
is a great example of this. Every seemingly insignificant detail comes together at the end in
a big “A-HA” moment.@hjbau wrote:
I do think they are going to kill off Belle eventually or she is going to leave Rumpel. I just can’t imagine them wandering around Storybrooke happy. That seems to not work for the plot.
We differ on this again. OUAT seems to be mainly focused on our fairytales couples having
a happy ending…eventually. With Rumple and Belle, the road to that happy ending will be very
challenging because of the theme of Love vs. Power in that relationship. Just like SW/PC had
the challenge of overcoming wrong decisions and the lack of faith on David’s part in SB and forgiveness in MM’s part.Relationships are challenging and the writers are making the characters “work” to get their happy
endings. I mean, no one thinks Gold and Belle are just going to be “wandering” around SB happy..but it will be great to see how their challenges play out and how they arrive at that happy ending.@hjbau wrote:
This is about plot for me and Rumpel needs to be an antagonist. So either Belle has to be okay with his evil ways or she has to die so he can become more evil or she has to leave him.
Rumpel doesn’t have to be an all out evil “antagonist” either – I don’t think its the writers intention to
paint him or any other character as black and white – as a matter of fact, they have stated just the
opposite.@hjbau wrote:
There is no reason for this to get personal.
Ofcourse, its nothing personal. This is a fan forum – not a boxing match. But, I’ve read your previous posts because we’ve been posting along some of the same threads and
I know how much the Skin Deep episode troubled you. Its just that sometimes I think there is an
underlying motivation here that doesn’t “approve” of this couple and it comes out each time you post
about them even if you don’t mean to. Which is fine and funny and we all notice it.. 😆celesstarrParticipant@A_Desperate_Soul wrote:
Oh, wow. There were rumors that Belle and Rumpel would die in the finale? I don’t remember reading those theories. But thank God they were wrong. Killing them off would have been a terrible waste of two amazing characters.
There were no specific rumors..just a spoiler that someone majorly shocking dying and that it wouldn’t stick. So everything was pure speculation. I voted for August and Henry…and both were right to my amazement 😆 .Henry’s didn’t stick and I doubt August’s will either 😆
celesstarrParticipantOMG! Midnight Dreary, its the best congregation of Rumbelle fans out there :). Beautiful 25th anniversary page, just LOVE it!

My opinion that you don’t like Rumple is based on what you write about that character here. You always write negative things, even though it’s evident that he’s not a black and white character. And don’t get me wrong I don’t think it’s obligatory to like him or find his storyline interesting. It’s perfectly fine. But to express your dislike for a character in every single thread devoted to him is another pair of shoes.
I agree with this..its no secret LOL. On the “who will get killed off thread” I think HJBAU’s answers were either Rumple or Belle…but, they were the 2 CRITICAL characters in the season 1 finale that set us up for the next season! I think the agenda here is clear 😆
