that leads me to believe that she’s not dead, but living on in another form just as Zelena did after Rumple “killed” her.
This would make sense if Zelena actually died when rumple stabbed her. She said (and I quote from Heart of Gold ep) her life force left her body before it shattered. Which makes sense since Zelena has magic. Marian however does not so I am pretty sure she is dead.
But I wouldn’t be surprised if she was in flashbacks cause yeah, that bit about Regina killing her has always bugged me since she or he never bring it up. I mean, from what he said in 3×13 it’s clear he knows how she was killed.

What do I think? WHAT DO I THINK?!…. YOU CAN’T HANDLE WHAT I THINK! oO! lol Seriously though, I thought this was a disturbing and well written episode. I enjoyed seeing the back story and really enjoyed THE TWIST! I mean, I was not expecting it and it left me feeling… well like I said, disturbed. But in the way you want to be! I mean, need I mention the end of “Skin Deep” back in season 1? it was on that level of… Whhhaaaatt?!?!?!
The change in her story felt like a very natural evolution of Dev’ils character to me. I mean, in every other rendition (at least to me) you always get that… (how crazy is this woman) “vibe” and well, this took it to an extreme but in a very believable way. So in short, I loved it!
Added note: I hope this is the level of shock we get in the remaining four episodes cause man, starting with Heart of Gold the awesomeness bar of this season has begun to raise! 😀

I doubt we’ll see Jefferson again, (Seb Stan is a bit beyond this show these days), but thanks for that side by side to confirm that the door IS from inside the Hat. The interesting thing for me is that August wrote, “Author?” with a question mark, so even he, who knew about the Book, and knew how to add to it, seemingly didn’t actually know where it had come from.
Oh I don’t know, if we can get Director Fury in Agents of Shield we may be able to get Sebastian to make a re-appearance. (wishful thinking maybe, but hey) lol Anyways yeah, That sticky note was very curious. like you said he obviously didn’t know where it came from but he obviously knew something about the Author. The fact that he noted that door as a possible gateway to him makes me wonder just how much digging he had done…
