charlie francisParticipant
It was a pretty poor episode for me, saved only by Jefferson, Snow, and Cora. Regina’s single scene broke my heart.
Emma was an idiot all episode long. Snow says don’t trust Cora, Emma says “hey guess what, I share a son with your daughter!” Emma is told Ogres hunt by sound, Emma shoots her gun, etc. It got real old real fast. Her attitude towards the people who actually knew what they were talking about made her look like a brat.
Aurora – I don’t think anyone needs to be told why she sucks.
Mulan – Poorly acted.
Henry – Takes advantage of his mothers love for him, skips school, refuses to ever mind his own business. Never suffers any consequences for anything he does.
Charming – Doesn’t bother sticking around to make sure Henry gets on his bus, doesn’t scold Henry for skipping school, doesn’t punish Henry for risking his life, decides to include Henry in his plans. Try some actual parenting, Charming.
The Charming/Henry plot in Storybrooke was a waste of time and didn’t amount to anything. The show should have caught us up with Rumpelstiltskin, Belle, or Red.
The past!FTL story was equally a waste. Oh no, Snow can’t have children! I wonder if she’ll ever get this fixed! Lancelot was bland, and Charming’s mother killing herself was pretty damn stupid.
All Snow/Charming flashbacks lack any tension because we know how their story ends.
On an unrelated note: The kingdoms recruit kids to fight those huge freaking ogres? Boy is Henry in for a surprise when he gets to FTL. Careful what you wish for kid.

Least Favorite: Henry using the How To Be A Villain For Dummies method of using someones love to manipulate them. Charming letting Henry get away with everything with zero consequences and deciding to include him in his plans. Emma’s attitude and stupidity. Aurora. And pretty much everything else.
charlie francisParticipantI wonder who all those hearts belong to. Random innocent people, Regina’s enemies, or people like Graham who don’t follow orders?
charlie francisParticipantEmma is no longer the undisputed main character of the show. She had to be in the first season, as she was the Savior and no one else had their memories.
Now that everyone remembers who they are, all of these characters are going to get more screen time than they ever did in season 1. The curse being broken opened up a whole new world of storytelling, and has made it a true ensemble show.
I don’t think we’ll ever go back to ow the show was structured in season one, and I for one hope we never do. I’m more than happy with Regina, Rumpelstiltskin, Red, Charming, Belle, and Hook getting plenty of screen time. Shoehorning in Emma and Snow White into stories that don’t really need them would just make them seem out of place.
charlie francisParticipantI’d be fine with them introducing Frankenstein to the show. The show was originally advertised as “every Fairy Tale character we know” but once it premiered they quickly changed it to “every Storybook character we know.”

Hold on a second. If Regina knew FTL still existed, she knowingly sent the Wraith there…I doubt she really cared tbh- she just wanted to save her own skin.
And its not like she could have known there would be someone marked right there at the other side of the portal. I mean, really, what are the odds?
charlie francisParticipantBoth Rumple and Regina know that if everyone knew that the Enchanted Forest still existed they’d try and get everyone back there.
But neither Rumpelstiltskin nor Regina want to go back. Rumpelstiltskin wants to find his son, and Regina doesn’t think life in the Enchanted Forest was ever particularly fair to her. She’s not wrong.
charlie francisParticipantBelle doesn’t need to be in every episode. Heck, We Are Both proved that an episode can be amazing even without Snow White and Emma.
I think Belle should be used sparingly. Definitely more than what Red got in season 1, but less than what the major characters get. Maybe use her about as much as they used August last year.
charlie francisParticipantI imagine there won’t be a romance between them, but therapy sessions now that Regina wants to be redeemed. Oh to be a fly on the wall for those sessions: “Now, Regina, tell me about your parents…”
charlie francisParticipantI liked how it took Regina realizing that her relationship with Henry parrelelled her own relationship with her mother, in a way. Now that she recognizes just she’s become (“I don’t want to become you.”), I think she can strive to regain a peice of who she used to be. Letting Henry go with Charming showed just how serious she is about redeeming herself in the eyes of her son.
