My guess based on spoilers is:
That based on the “Distinguished Gentleman” they are casting, that they are making Hades a very devil-like character and in European legends and folklore the devil appears often in the form of a dragon. This and the Lily’s name make thing that she is gonna be Hades daughter.
Wasn’t there even a disney cartoon episode in which Hades tries to flirt with Maleficent? Even though the devil and his grandma aren’t uncommon characters to appear in fairytales but like RumplesGirl said not “family-friendly” for an US-audience, I guess.Even though they already had an reference to the Devil-with-the-three-golden-hair…. I just hope they gonna at least include the GodfatherDeath/GrimReaper as Thanatos in some way. But that’s off-topic.I’m kinda excited. Hades is a villain I actually wanted to see on the show since we speculated about the wrat.

— from the Neverending Story by Michael EndeAs a German thinking about the “Sorcerer’s Apprentice”/”Zauberlehrling”(original) there are two things which came in mind.
First the sorcerer is actually called “an old master of witchcraft/warlock” in the original poem, which I guess will not be important because they will focus on the Fantasia version and it seems the hat isn’t connected to witchcraft in any way.
But there is something else which the poem is known for in the German-speaking area, which even the English Wikipedia article mentions:Der Zauberlehrling is well known in the German-speaking world. The lines in which the apprentice implores the returning sorcerer to help him with the mess he has created have turned into a cliché, especially the line Die Geister, die ich rief (“The spirits that I called”), a garbled version of one of Goethe’s lines, which is often used to describe a situation where somebody summons help or uses allies that he cannot control, especially in politics.
So the line “The spirits that I called” stands for the entire situation when someone lose controle over the powers he played with or the powers he summoned.
Now I’m wondering if the entire Sorcerer’s hat thing might lead Rumple into such a “The Spirits I called” situation or if the sorcerer is also the writer of the storybook Regina might get into something like that. — from the Neverending Story by Michael EndeI have a beef with German movie/show/episode titles anyway. They have a knack for stupid translations, titles making no sense at all, using a different title when absolute unnecessary or use English titles but not the originals. In German “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” became “The Return of the First Avenger” – that English title, no German translation, no kidding. The Heat they retitled as “Taffe Mädels” (Tough Girlies), very funny.
I guess Captain America was renamed because Germans aren’t such big fans of patriotism and Disney thought they should concentrate on the word Avenger so the movie would sell better. So this was more some kind of a business decision.
The problem I have is, that titles are often not some random something, but the writers choose titles with a reason, an that too often gets lost in the German titles.
I guess this is the big problem. You think to be as close to the original art is the best way to translate or localize a pice of art while I think translating from one language to another is an art itself.
These are just two different kind of philosophies. The difference is that you think someone who doesn’t follow yours is just wrong.
I think it’s just different but it can still be good.
I think a good example is the most succesfull movie in Germany. Disney’s The Junglebook.
It was successful because the translation didn’t try to stick to the original version. It was translated so it would feel more natural. And I still prefer “Probier’s mal mit Gemütlichkeit” (“consider trying Gemütlichkeit”) over “Look for the bare necessities”.
Because it fits better.And that what I think. I don’t say the translator is the best translator of the world and I agree that they sometimes add words to a title which really doesn’t need to be there and should keep it shorter. I guess they do it to keep continuity to the style of the translated titles. It would also explain why they didn’t keep with “7:15 A.M.” even though “Viertel nach sieben” would fit into that the style and would be closer to the original.
But “Auf frischer Tat” for “red-handed” wouldn’t be a better title than “Wolfswinter”. Sometimes I would even prefer the German titles over the original one (e.g. “Wolfswinter/winter of the wolf” for “Red Handed” // “Erkenne dich selbst/Know Thyself” for “Lost Girl”) or think both titles are pretty good like “Wenn böse Träume fliegen lernen”(When Evil/Bad Dreams Learn to Fly) for “The Heart of the Truest Believer”.
AndWonderland is the same thing. What is wrong with “Vertrauen ist ein großes Wort”(Trust is a big word) for “Trust Me”?
Yes sometimes the translator seemed to like to make the titles longer and tries to be a little bit too poetic, but most titles are actually just ok, I think.About the German voice of Alice. I agree. The voice actresses is not the best choice because she sounds too young/childish and naive which doesn’t really fits to her because Alica is more like a smart young woman.

BTT: What might be also interesting is that it seemed like her magical color will be ice blue. Looking back to the villains of season 3 – WW and Pan – whose colors were both green it might mean that the season 4b villain might also have a connection to the color blue (Hades/SneakyFairy e.g.). Just theorizing.

I could also see them combining Elsa and the White Witch from Narnia. I really hope they do this and we go to Narnia next!
Combining it could also explain why Rumple would locked her up. In the books Jadis created a spell which was able to destroy her entire homeworld Charn and killed everyone inside of it except of herself just because she was loosing the fight against her sister for the throne of Charn.

Henry would be the only important character who comes into my mind. Probably also the child between Philipp and Aurora. It’s possible they do something which makes Aurora and Mulan impossible to rescue Philipp’s soul so they child could never born.
