Reviews, theories, and talk about ABC's Once Upon a Time TV show
I’m wondering if Pan being linked to Rumple has something to do with that spring and the water. Maybe they were brothers, and when their father left, there was a different Pan and he stole them off to Neverland. While there Rumple was injured and drank from the spring. Maybe this Pan then took on the price of that magic by agreeing to become the new Pan and stay in Neverland so that Rumple could leave safely. And maybe after centuries of being a child, Pan became bitter. Or maybe they are brothers and their father somehow got them to Neverland and he had to abandon Pan to save Rumple, and then had to run away from Rumple for the shame of it all.
And if they are so connected, has Rumple becoming the dark one prolonged Pan’s life longer than it was ever supposed to be? I’m wondering when this connection happened, before or after Rumple became the dark one.
I watched this episode with my kids, and I couldn’t help but laugh at all the things that reminded me of OUaT. Jake had to go find squid ink to fix Cubby’s map. Peter Pan says something to the effect of When you make Tinkerbell mad, she stays mad.
Also, watching Jake and OUaT really starts to mess with my head. Haha. I sometimes imagine Jake as a cartoon for little rascals where they are really all truly evil, like Pan in OUaT, and Hook is actually the victim. Although Jake’s Hook seems like the bumbling uncle of Once’s Hook. Makes it more fun to watch when I feel like I’m watching the same thing day after day. 🙂
It’s interesting that Henry could be seen as the person to save magic, wasn’t he wanting to destroy magic at one point? (I could be remembering that wrong.) He is the reason Regina shows restraint when using her magic now. I’m not sure how much restraint Rumple would show on Henry’s behalf, but I do think he cares for him. Did Pan bring Henry simply to lure two of the greatest magic users to NL at the same time? And why? To save magic, like he says? To play an epic game?
One thing about Pan’s speech that I think was a little off was calling Neal the “spawn of the Dark One.” Rumple wasn’t the Dark One when Neal was conceived and born. (Does Pan know this?) So while Henry does seem to have evil on one side and good on the other, it isn’t quite so cut and dry.
