ParticipantIt’s notable that they mention exploring the Sleeping Beauty lore yet have not confirmed whether or not Sarah Bolger will be back as Aurora, since she did sign on for a series regular role on another series. If they do all this and can’t bring her back, that’ll be frustrating.

ParticipantThis is probably the vaguest thing I’ve ever seen Adam release. Probably the opening scene – I mean, we do know how Once loves giving us either vague or parallel openings for premieres.

ParticipantI find it funny how William Shatner is our biggest (celebrity) fan.

ParticipantNote: episode rankings are going to be judged in two ways. A.) How they stood on their own and b.) How they compared to their last season counterpart.
Favorite episode of 4A:
A tie between Rocky Road and Shattered Sight.
RR: I liked the introduction of the Snow Queen, it included some great comedic moments, and it was on par with 3×03, “Quite a Common Fairy.” Plus, it reintroduced Will into the Onceiverse, one of my top five favorite characters. I hope we see more of him in 4B.
SS: It was absolutely hilarious, filled with some great character moments. I really loved the scene of Snow and Regina fighting and, after the curse broke, laughing about it. It really showed how far they have come in their relationship. And, even though there was some mixed reaction, I did like Ingrid’s death scene. The music, her realization. I thought it was nice, and it was infinitely better than 3×10, “The New Neverland,” which I didn’t like.
Least Favorite Episode of 4A:
It would have to be a three-way-tie between 4×01, 4×02, and 4×09. These episodes were all written by my favorite writers of the show, so it kills me that these episodes were just bad. The slowness of the premiere (you can’t announce that a billion-dollar ongoing franchise is coming to your show then have a slow introductory episode), the oddness of 4×02’s flashback (I hated Bo Peep. She was just really, really stupid), and the “What did I just watch?!” factor of 4×09 made them to be some really bad episodes. Plus, I loved their counterparts last season (with the exception of 3×02, “Lost Girl,” though I did think it was better than 4×02).
Overall Thoughts on the Frozen Arc:
It wasn’t the worst way they could’ve brought them in, but I do wish they were spiced up a bit more. Plus, I think killing off Anna (which, again, I know they couldn’t do) would have provided both better drama and a better character arc for Elsa.
Favorite Moment:
The scene in 4×10, when Regina poofs into her Evil Queen outfit and says, “I’ve missed you.” I always love it when Lana portrays Evil!Regina, since it provides better dialogue.
I also really liked the Elsa/Emma storyline, as they were able to help each other in taking down their walls. That said, I still think killing off Anna would’ve helped, too. 😛
Best Frozen Adapted Character:
Pabbie and Kristoff. I liked the wisdom in John Rhys-Davies’ voice, and I always liked Kristoff’s quips. But all the characters were pretty well cast.
Overall Grade:
B-. I think that, if some character motivations and development were consistent throughout the arc (*cough*RUMPLE BUMPLE*cough*), we would have had a better story. However, I do think I’m going to end up liking this arc more than 4B, since that arc knocked itself down a grade by making the term “The Queens of Darkness” canon.

ParticipantSo if Rumple is the “Big Bad” of this half season, does that mean he’s going to actually die in a blaze of villainous glory?
I will not be surprised. At all. I think—and don’t yell at me guys–that Bobby wants out. He had a 5 year but I wouldn’t be surprised if he asked to be let out
I doubt it, especially since Bobby has said that he loves playing Evil!Rumple. If anything, he might’ve threatened a release unless they gave him a darker, more evil arc.

ParticipantKITSIS | Rumple is absolutely the Big Bad.
This is what bugs me. Rumple was always the ambiguous one. Since Season 1, he helped whoever could get him closer to Bae. He created the most elaborate scheme to get to our world (which, with all the portals that “are in short supply,” is getting pretty laughable at this point). That is what makes me confused the most since he wasn’t like this until 4×01. He gave a speech at Neal’s grave, for crying out loud! Now, since he’s lost everything (Neal, Belle, the lavish suits), he wants to destroy the heroes so that, “[they] could be the victors.” What?! If they wanted to set him up to be the ultimate Big Bad, which I would have been fine with if they didn’t decide to go through the redemption arc in S3, they should have laid the foundation. At least, not make him remorseful while being controlled by the Wicked Witch.
1000 cookies saying that Cruella is a shape-shifting Dalmatian, and her fur reflects that. Also, the term “The Queens of Darkness” gets on my nerves. Even more so that it’s canon.

December 14, 2014 at 9:59 pm in reply to: FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS from this episode 4X 11 HEROES AND VILLAINS #293205Corbin
ParticipantThis was a very…different episode. Since Season 3B, I’ve noticed that the last episode of the arc just draws on the major themes of the entire half-season, since the actual plot ended in 4×10, “Shattered Sight.” That said, I couldn’t really think of anything to say about this episode other than, “…Okay?”
Favorite Moments:
1. I liked the good-bye scene for the Frozen characters. Whether or not they should’ve been in the story itself, they were well-cast and had some cool relationships with the main cast (some cooler than others, i.e. Emma/Elsa was better than Anna/David).
2. Regina’s understanding at the Marian circumstance. At this point two seasons ago, we would’ve seen the Gates of Hell open if someone tried taking happiness away from Regina (which, if I may remind you, we almost did), so it’s nice to see a different reaction.
3. Henry showing Emma and Regina the Secret Writer’s Room. The Operation Mongoose arc has been my saving grace of the season, so I’m glad to see a positive development in it, especially since it signifies that we could have an actual author! Plus, I like that Regina was happy to let Emma join Operation Mongoose. It shows how developed their friendship is.
4. The scene between Rumple and Regina. While it bugged me that it felt that Rumple was putting up a personality front, I liked his overall message to Regina – you can’t force someone to give you a happy ending, you have to take one and make it your own.
5. BELLE! She felt very left out of S4, so I was really happy to see her doing things that advance plot. She broke off her relationship to Rumple, and I’m glad that she realized it had to be done.
6. Rumple on a bus! I was laughing my butt off at that.
Least Favorite Moments:
1. The introduction to the “Queens of Darkness.” First, I hate the term. None of them are queens (one is a goddess, the other is a mistress, and the final one is an obsessed lunatic). Second, it was never established that Mal had accomplices. She always seemed like someone who worked alone, and this episode made it seem like she couldn’t do anything without Cruella and Ursula. I mean, I’m sure she wouldn’t have failed defeating Aurora and her mother if she had her other “Queens” had helped.
Also, I really didn’t like Ursula. She, more than the other two, felt like a spoiled brat who didn’t get what she wanted and is now throwing a fit on a grand scale. Plus, the effects on her tentacles were…jarring.
And Cruella is a shape-shifting Dalmation. That’s like taking the crazy out of character’s personality and injecting it into her concept. How wonderful.
2. The final Arendelle scene. I feel like we had a nice sendoff to the characters, so the wedding day scene felt out of place.
3. I’m really annoyed at the fact that we don’t have any clear motivation for what Rumple was trying to do other than, “GIVE ME ULTIMATE POWER AND I’LL GIVE YOU WORLD DOMINATION. MWAHAHAHA!” Again, it really cemented the fact that his character development was retconned. I mean, I understand that he was a slave to Zelena. However, he still felt remorse for his actions while being enslaved (as evidenced by his apologies to Robin when he needed to get Regina’s heart). Now, he “doesn’t have time for everyone else.” S3!Rumple =/= S4A Rumple.
4. Cruella is a shape-shifting Dalmation. I cannot stop laughing at the stupidity of this concept.
Overall, this wasn’t a terrible episode. I liked it better than others in the arc and I do enjoy the idea of exploring what it means to be a hero and a villain. However, compared to the drama of 3×11 and how it felt like a conclusion, this episode felt like, “How many different Disney characters can we cram into one episode?” On the bright side, I have hope for an actual author!

ParticipantI didn’t like their introduction. It made them sound like they were just bitter people who didn’t get what they want. Also, I’m not a fan of Ursula, since I was really hoping for her to be moving on tentacles.
That said, my saving grace is Cruella. She looked really cool, though I’m not a fan of the Irish accent.
Also, I REALLY want an answer to how Mal is alive. She should be dead, and I want to see why she isn’t.

ParticipantUnforgiven has to be the Regina/Mal Centric!
Considering they started filming 4×14 on Thursday and that the title is, “Enter the Dragon,” I’d say that’s it.
