BlockedIt really does sound like so much is hinging on the contracts of some of the leads. Rebooting a show that has been established for several seasons, to the point where ratings are already dipping, with a new crew is extremely hard (look at current show Sleepy Hollow that had a pretty big shake up at the end of its third season—even though lead actor stayed on, it didn’t help the floundering ratings). I’m starting to seriously wonder if this whole “Gideon killing Emma” plot was really a precaution in case JMo doesn’t sign. If she doesn’t sign–Emma will die a Savior’s death and S7 is about recovering from that. If she does sign–Emma defeated fate and S7 is the big end to it all.
I don’t think they’ll kill Emma at all. They may pull a Vampire Diaries on her though. Like she’ll be whisked away to another land or cursed and S7 is about everybody trying to find her.
I doubt that Emma is actually going to die. If she does die the show is dead. Killing her off will be fatal to the show, she’s the foundation of the show. Plus it would be absolutely contradicting the message of “hope” cause Emma deserves a happy ending more than anyone.
TBH though I do believe JMO is definitely a lock for next season, we just have to see what happens. She definitely sounds a lot more hopeful than Bobby did.
The show can survive without Rumple, the show cannot survive without Emma, period.
Snowing, Hook, Henry, etc would not get a happy ending if Emma dies. It’s also cruel to dangle a CS engagement and then not follow through. These writers are stupid but they’re not that stupid IMO.
Digitalspy also did not included JMO’s quotes about how she has no interest in abandoning the character and that she has hope for a S7.

BlockedI think the big thing to take a note of is that it’s more than just JMO and Bobby with contracts up. We’re probably looking at the entire S1 cast having their contracts up.
And it’s still unknown how the contracts work for the cast members who joined after Season 1. Do people like Colin and Emilie still have an extra year on their contract, or were their contracts made to align with the Season 1 cast?
I think they’re signed for S7 but whether ABC will want them for S7 is anyone’s guess. Same w/ Zelena if ABC wants to get rid of her they will even if her contract is for multiple seasons.
I think the only locks are JMO, Colin, and Lana. Maybe Jared as well.
The others are all on the chopping block IMO on whether they decide to do it or not.

BlockedI will say what’s interesting at least is that since contracts are up and the show’s future is uncertain, it makes many characters vulnerable. We would always say well there’s no way this person could die…..but now, anyone could really bite the dust which makes things a little more intriguing.
I don’t think anyone will die. I think they will be written off, but not killed. The only character I can see being killed is Zelena. BC of how irrelevant she has become.
BTW here’sa new interview with Robert about the future. His contract much like JMO’s is clearly up this year. It’s safe to say the entire S1 cast is in need of contract renewals.

BlockedGiles tweeted a pic w/ Colin. I’m assuming separate filming along w/ Lana today at least was confirmed.

BlockedHas anyone posted that article about Jennifer Morrision’s contract being up in another thread yet?
I went looking for it but couldn’t find it. I don’t think it was a written Ask Ausellio. He does live FB question/answer sessions so I think it may have been one of those?
It wasn’t. The one for Ask Aussiello confirmed that a lot of the actors contracts are up(not just JMO) and that S7 was not a slam dunk for renewal.
The articles came from when JMO did her podcast interview.

BlockedJMO is IMO the one they have to get cause she’s the star of the show
Unless S7 is a complete different thing altogether. Like how Charmed introduced Billy and intended her to be the star of the show from then on. For all we know by the end of season 6, we could have a whole new cast of characters, following them on a whole new adventure, with only occasional appearences by the ones we originally saw. But I don’t think that is the case UNLESS they are doing a flashforward where we see Henry all grown up going on adventures with grown up Baby Snowflake and grownup Gideon. I think that could be a show. I’d probably watch.
We know how well that works out for the show…see Scrubs S9.
But A&E don’t care about that, they don’t care about what makes sense for the story or the characters. If they can continue the show even without Jennifer, they will. They get more money by doing season 7 instead of just ending it with 6. Moreover, reealistically, and I hope that A&E realize that, that season 7 will probably be the final season with or without Jennifer, so ratings or fans or shippers don’t factor into decision about how to handle the show. In the end, A&E will do what is most beneficial for A&E.
JMO indicated that she has no interest in abandoning the character and I fully believe she will do S7 for sure. And yes absolutely ratings cannot justify anything more than S7 and TBH a short S7 of 13 episodes.

BlockedEverything that Jennifer said in that article implied that she wants off the show, but she might be willing to stay one more season if it is the last. Jennifer is done with this show. She wants to do other projects. She doesn’t like her storyline and the inconsistencies on the show. She wants to direct. She said she is glad she did Ouat because it got her into directing. Also, if there really is going to be a big change, which that could just be all talk because contracts are up and the actors are trying to get more money, but if there is going to actually be a big change on the show then the only thing that would cause a big change is either Jennifer or Lana leaving the show. Lana doesn’t seem to want to leave and doesn’t do other projects really, so it stands to reason, that it is Jennifer who is the one who might leave.
Don’t vocalize your thoughts and assume Jennifer thinks the same way as you do. Spoiler alert, she doesn’t.
Also that is simply not true.
Rumple not being around would tremendously affect the show. How many of our characters are connected to him? Every. Single. One
Snowing not being around would tremendously affect the show as well. They’re the couple the story was found on, the iconic couple that have been here since day one.
Regina and Emma are not the only ones. And personally IMO Emma is the only character the show can’t lose.
Because the basis of this show is the real world and fairy tail world colliding. Emma is the real world, the original character. Without her, this is simply another fairy tail show.
Michael
BlockedWhy is JMO probably leaving? She’s said nothing but good things about the show and she’s the one that RT’d articles about hopes for a S7. She also said she would not abandon the character.
She gave no indication that she was leaving at all. So can I ask what interview made you think this?
She’s also gonna be at a panel next week with Colin, Adam, and Eddy. So for somebody leaving at the end of the season she still is doing a lot of promotion for the show. I don’t know what you’re suggesting by attitude or interviews. Her attitude for OUAT has not changed.
The show cannot go on without Emma. It will be cancelled so quickly. She’s the original fairy tail on the show, there’s no show without Emma Swan. Period.
And a Hook without Emma? Yeah they’re gonna lose a lot of ratings, no CS fan would stick around for that.
